I assume that there are no more secure currencies because if the supply of a currency can be increased, this usually happens. This was already the case with the Romans and so on. The temptation for governments is to tax inflation. In other words, they print money, have deficits, budget deficits, and these deficits arise because too little tax is collected or far too much is spent.
In the case of Germany, I would imagine that the taxes are already so high that they can't be increased significantly anymore, so that deficits then occur. But economically speaking, inflation is a tax. Everyone needs to know this very well, and this tax, or rather the responsibility for this tax, lies with the governments.
The governments always want to collect more money for themselves. The governments in Europe have no interest in representing the interests of the people. Their only interest is to improve themselves economically and socially. It has become a dictatorship of bureaucracy. In the past, we had dictatorships of princes and kings and so-called "tractors" in Rome, who were only elected for a year or half a year.
But if they did something bad or behaved badly, they would be ousted. Often deposed, murdered, very often by their own relatives. That's the best, the safest way to have many relatives. But still, today's dictatorship of bureaucracy is good. Who do you want? If something goes wrong, the blame is immediately shifted to someone else.
Nobody stands up and says, "I made a mistake." That never happens in politics. And the biggest losers—you can see it with Bärburg, with Ursula von der Leyen and such—they get promoted. It's unbelievable that there's a system where failures are promoted. But we have a very, very strong one in Switzerland.
Politics is sliding to the left, and that's frightening to me. But as I said, I believe that all currencies will lose purchasing power. Not a hypothesis, but a fact. I actually read an article yesterday about Suarez, who was a footballer in the 60s. His transfers were lousy. His transfers from one club to another were a hundred thousand dollars.
Today, that's five million, 100 million. That's inflation. If you go to your grandfather's house, he'll say, "Yes, I bought the house for so much." Today, that's... 20 to 30 times, that's the loss of purchasing power, and you can best observe that with a stable currency like gold or platinum, which, over the long term, don't always rise, but over the long term, they rise.
In 1970, when I started working, an ounce of gold cost $35, and now it's around $1900. At least the purchasing power has been roughly maintained. Yes, that's why I say I hold gold and silver and all these precious metals, but they 're obviously ready now. They were so cheap at the beginning of the 70s.
So, assuming you ask me, I travel. I have credit cards in US dollars, Swiss francs, and Thai franc. I also have cash when I travel in dollars, Swiss francs, and the currency of the country I'm traveling in. I live here in Thailand, and I have an account at a Thai bank in the local currency. I also have a broker account.
So, the point where I'll say "stocks" for today is that there's no way to know for sure. Sooner or later, a situation will arise in the world where you probably won't be able to transfer any money from Germany to Thailand. So, they can transfer, or I suppose one day the Americans will say, " Yes, their holdings in American dollars, they ca n't just sell them, they have to keep them there," and so on and so forth.
That's why, since I live here, I need an income to cover my expenses, and that's why I have a Thai bank, so stocks, a bank account, and a credit card. Generally speaking, people should build up portfolios in various different countries, maybe even with flags. Maybe right next door, the customer goes to the secondhand shop.
The custom is now at Deutsche Bank or Commerzbank or whatever, and the customer says, "I want to diversify," then the bank here naturally says, "Yes, you can buy this fund, this ETF in America, and this ETF or spark from Canada, and they're in England and in Australia, and so on." That's not diversification at all.
Germany isn't diversification either. Germany is today a vassal state of the United States. Did you know that the German state is making concrete preparations to access the assets of its citizens?
