Guys, this is our 58th video in the series applying the Magic Formula. So you can see here on the screen that I'm now controlling the magic formula through my website. On my website, you can manage your entire variable income portfolio, whether in Brazil or the United States, track your monthly expenses, and manage your net worth.
There are several calculators here to help you invest better, compare investments, calculate when you will achieve financial freedom, adjust the future value of investments, determine when you will reach your first million, and so on. In short, there are several calculators here to help you invest better.
And of course, you have a whole automated part for calculating taxes and filing income tax returns. So, we're here on May 20th. I'm recording this video for you guys. May 20th. The income tax return will be finalized next week. And I highly recommend that you use my website because the declaration process is completely automated.
Simply click here on income tax return and you will have access to the functions of declaring assets and rights and the sales report. So, I'm going to quickly generate this for you, as if I were going to file an income tax return for the magic formula portfolio. Everything is right here where you're about to enter.
I've prepared the tax return declaration program, including descriptions and breakdowns, for you. Just copy and paste this into the recipe app. Here you will also find the dividends and interest on equity that you have to declare. So, going back here to talk a little more about the magic formula, you'll notice that I have 12 assets in my portfolio.
I managed to correct that error that we'd been carrying over for a few months, where I had 11 assets in my portfolio. So, last month, since Valide was really worth a lot—and I even have a comment to make about last month—I made the spreadsheet, I separated everything to record the video about the magic formula, and since I was getting ready to leave on a trip, I ended up forgetting to record it.
So, I made the sale, I made the purchase, I got the whole spreadsheet ready, and I forgot to record the video. So, in this video I'm going to talk about both April and May. So, in April I sold Valid, I'll show you in the spreadsheet here, but it had reached such a large value that I decided to split that sale amount in two, putting R$ 500 more into each instead of R$ 1,000, and buying two assets.
So, our portfolio now has 12 assets again, and I'll be careful to ensure that no more mistakes happen from now on. You can see that the portfolio is currently worth a little over R$ 65,000, but I made the transaction on the 15th, so 5 days ago the value was slightly different, and I prefer to show you that here in the spreadsheet.
So I like to show you spreadsheets to keep everything transparent and legal. So, Valide was the company I had mistakenly purchased from. I decided to sell it here on April 16th, and it yielded us approximately 8,200 after deducting dividends. She had a very good return on investment. You'll see that the return from last month to this month was also exceptional, but Valide came out with a 56% return.
It wasn't enough for her to make it into our ranking. The ranking is still led by Cristal Pigmentos with a 140% return on investment. And the last one on the list of five companies I've included is DXP with 70%, but it's quite a feat to have to achieve 56% profitability in a year. So, as I said, with the sale of Valid, I bought two companies: Cruzeiro do Sul Educação and Tegma.
I roughly split the cost between the two here. And in that month I made the sale of Vale. Vale exited our portfolio with a 7% return, and I added another R$ 1,000 and bought the lightweight metal mesh. The mesh was already in ours, it's even up here, the mesh. We had already bought it here in December 2023, and it was sold in December 2024 at a loss of 16%.
Let's see if this time she brings us a little more luck. Showing it here in a very detailed and transparent way for you. So far I have spent R$ 53,329.31. On the day I made the spreadsheet here, on the day I made the transaction, which was the 15th, the portfolio was worth around R$ 64,327. So you can see that from the 15th until now, the portfolio has appreciated by another R$ 1,000.
I received R$ 9,871.50 in dividends . So, adding these two values together, the total so far is 74,199.44, which gives a return so far of 41.8%. And I want you to notice that in April the portfolio was worth R$ 54,000 and it went up to R$ 64,000. So, that's an increase of R$ 10,000 from one month to the next.
And you can see here that it was practically a 15% increase in value in one month. It was one of the best months since applying the Magic Formula. And here, as I always tell you, comparing it to Ibovespa, with PCA plus 6 and 100% of Silic, but I prefer to show it on the chart because I think it's clearer that way.
So, to show you, until a few months ago, the Magic Formula was losing, both the Magic Formula, which is shown in green here, and the Ibovespa were underperforming fixed income. So the purple one here is the IPCA plus 6, the light blue one is 100% of the Selic rate, the green one is the magic formula, and the blue one would be a simple investment in Bovespa, as if you were buying BOVA 11.
So the Magic Formula and Bovespa were underperforming fixed income, but with this month's return, it has significantly increased , okay? So, considering everything from the beginning, if those same contributions had been made using the magic formula, then the 41.8% you already saw in the spreadsheet, if you had invested in IPCA+6 you would have 32.6%.
Investing in Silic is 100% of Silic's performance at 30.7%, while investing in the Ibovespa is practically the worst performer since forever, at 18.6%. Okay everyone, that's it for this video, a really quick one. Since you all seem to enjoy watching it, you've been asking me to make the videos more concise.
So this is what our wallet looks like. This month's return was very impressive, truly one of the best returns we've seen since the beginning of the Fórmula Marica investment, and now it has surpassed fixed income investments and is really standing out as a good investment. I managed to fix the issue with the assets; I had 11 assets in my portfolio, and now I have 12, and next month we'll be back together .
Next month I'm going to put in another R$1,000 so we can do another round of the magic formula and track how our portfolio is doing. I hope you enjoyed the video. If you have any questions, I'm available to answer them. A hug.
