If there is a lot of money to be made, where will it be made? But first it is important to know the history and track record that if a stock actually gains 10, 20, 25, 50% and doubles, then sell it and be happy, that is enough or it can also increase by 10, 20, 25, 50 times. Right? So let me start with what is the condition of the country?
How strong is Imi? How are the markets? All this has its place. But I want to discuss each idea with you first. So that all our audience here gets the confidence that yes, 10, 20, even 50 times more money can be made in the market. So Ramdev Sir, let me start with you. Any one idea you feel that this one was a great idea.
This is how I selected this stock. Well, I know four or five. If you say so, I will take the name, but you refuse. But you will do it. So how did I choose these stocks? How I was able to make 10, 20, 50 times the money in this. If you can make 100 times the money, then let us give an example of that trick of making big and long money, see what happens, whenever a new segment comes, a new business is created, then at that time a new company is started, so the life of the new company in the new business is very long, for example, if your bank was privatized in 95-96, then five to ten licenses were given, at that time HDFC Bank also got one license.
Isn't it ? At that time the entire banking system was in the public sector. So that was a new beginning and that too was promoted by HDFC Bank i.e. HDFC Limited. You should understand that at that time, after listing, after the IPO, you got a price of ₹40. The price was 40 40 and you mean the market cap was 200 to 250 crores, so the entire bank could be bought for 1000 crores and the liquidity was so huge that if you need 10 lakh shares, you will get it in half an hour without impacting the price and after that people also knew that there will be 30 taka growth every year and its P multiple never went above 20, it never went above 20 22, so for 25 years you mean it became worth 1000 crores, even today after so much trouble it is worth 12 lakh crores.
There has been some insurance in between. But it is confirmed 000 times. But look, in 1995 I knew what would happen but when it would happen, I had no idea that so much would happen in 25-30 years. But there was a lot of excitement at that time, we had some children as well and we had less money, so we bought around 5-6 lakh shares.
So, I mean my total portfolio was of 10 crores at that time, after Harshad Mehta, it had become 30. Out of the 10 crores that I had, I had saved 5 lakhs, which means 70-80 lakh crores went to 1 lakh 1 aa, which means 7.8% of my portfolio I bought that much confidence, I was ok, but a news came that brother, the price was 52, 53, 54, that the net worth of this company is going away, and actually the news was correct, our interpretation was wrong, we sold all the shares of the company in one day, we sold all of them, there were 5.25 lakh shares, we sold all of them and the price did not fall by 8 annas, yes, then after that we re-entered in 2 or 2 and after that we made a lot of money in it, so what is this, do you know what will happen in investing, I mean, generally if you do not know that, then there is no benefit in investing, you know that here brother, there is going to be a lot of excitement here, and the good thing is that every 510 years new segments are created.
India is a compounded country. You will get a lot of compounded opportunities here. And you know what will happen in this but you need patience for it to happen. Correct. So that thing is that you are learning slowly. Now I tell everyone that whatever shares I have, I am buying them for 202 years. Now we should have that much courage too.
Did n't sit for 25 years. Same question to you Vijay Sir, that you picked up some big theme, big sector, big stock and you thought that this can grow 10, 20, 50, 100 times and what was its story, but before Vijay Sir answers, if you have noticed one thing in Ramdev Sir's answer, it is very important.
All of us see the price that the price of HDFC Bank was ₹40. Today it became ₹800. Big people never look at emotions. He only looks at the market cap of the company. It was available for ₹800 crores. Today in ₹ lakh crores. So this thinking will make you great. As long as you remember by looking at the share price.
Now the day you remember that brother, I am buying a company worth Rs 5000 crore or a company worth Rs 500 crore. The feeling becomes irrelevant to you. So the first thing you should do is change your habit and start thinking in terms of market cap. Sir, you unknowingly gave me a very big guru mantra, I took it Vijay Sir, so Sir, one thing is certain that these multiples like 10 times, 20 times or 50 times, they do not happen with thinking, at least I do not have that much knowledge that when I take it, I think that maybe it will become 20 times, it will become 50 times, so it does not seem like that, isn't it, sir, one idea can change your life, so one such company of mine was Cera Setri Ware, which I took in 20056 and I took it for around ₹80 and I must have taken around 3% of the company.
After that, that share reached ₹250 during the boom of 2008. Then when the recession of 1988 hit the lemon business, it again decreased to 506. Then understand that it has become 600. Then it became 200. Then it became 1500. Then it became 800. In this way the share continued to move. During Covid, that share of Rs 4200 became Rs 1700 and after Covid, in 2025, before that, one to one bonus came in its shares and I got Rs 250 dividend in that, if I calculate [ __ ] bonus x bonus, then in 16 years I got Rs 250 dividend for Rs 80, so if you add my FD savings and savings, then all of it came in dividend for me, so the shares became free for me, they became free one to one, when 1% was left with me in the last, which I sold in 2024 for Rs 16400, for Rs 8200 and one to one bonus, then my money became 16400 times, wow and that happened within 17-18 years, so this is such a story inside it, but you cannot do this by thinking, for this you also need patience, right, and how much If that stock goes down by 50% or 60% from the top, then there is a problem in it, it is not a big deal that you bought the stock and it goes down by 50%.
Many people have a lot of stocks. But what investors usually make a mistake is that they see the price going down by 50% and then the price comes back up. I mean, I cannot tell you the happiness I feel at that time, sir. You wouldn't be as happy if you bought a stock and it immediately increased by 20-25% and you made money.
The stock fell by 50% and the price came back and the happiness of selling at that price is unparalleled. He said he was saved. After today, do not touch this share. You don't get such a feeling only then, Sir, it is like this, if suppose I am sitting in a train from Church Gate and suppose I have caught Vande Bharat and I have to go to Ahmedabad.
If my train to Bombay Central is late, I have no regrets. I am not happy if she reaches Dadar fast. My focus remains on my destination. My focus is not on the journey in between. So by saying this, whenever the new price comes back to the old price, like you told me, when it comes back to the price after decreasing by 50 percent, then I feel confident that I have caught a leopard.
What is the matter? Otherwise, it should have the strength to recover after falling 50 rupees. So rather it increases my confidence that maybe I am on the right path.
