I think it's the biggest thing, the biggest factor, that's changing the stock market today. Michael Saylor's view is that Bitcoin will compound at a rate that justifies any level of liability relative to the company's size, even levels that would normally be hard to stomach. That's why he has built these structures, and they have been enormously successful products. Of course, he could also change and refinance them at any time.
Michael Saylor is changing the reality of the stock market. He will probably end up being the largest company in the market, potentially the largest of all, especially if Bitcoin goes to a million dollars.
Tom Lee doesn't mince words about Michael Saylor's vision for MicroStrategy. He sees Saylor doing more than playing a risky game with Bitcoin. He believes Saylor is rewriting how the stock market itself operates. MicroStrategy doesn't generate substantial net income to justify its valuation; it's valued solely on the value of its balance sheet. That isn't new in history. When I graduated from college, the biggest stock in the S&P's top five was Exxon Mobil, and it stayed in the top five for 28 to 30 years. An entire generation graduated and worked on Wall Street while a top-five name was a company valued only on the worth of its oil, not its net income. In that sense, MicroStrategy is replacing Exxon in lore. For a whole generation people said Exxon was the biggest company, but you didn't value it on earnings. MicroStrategy could become one of the biggest companies in the world, valued on its Bitcoin.
When Tom Lee talks about MicroStrategy's future, he isn't just speculating about another tech company rising to prominence. He's predicting a seismic shift in how markets value corporate entities. In his view, Michael Saylor's bold Bitcoin strategy could rewrite the playbook, turning MicroStrategy into a titan valued not by earnings but by its immense Bitcoin reserves.
It's a fascinating comparison. Just as Exxon once symbolized corporate dominance through oil, MicroStrategy could soon represent the new era of digital assets.
MicroStrategy has already shown that the strategy works. They started on August 12, 2020, when they bought 260 million dollars' worth of Bitcoin. The stock was $13 then. Now they own close to 5% of the Bitcoin network. They announced a huge purchase last week, and the stock is now around $400, up about 30 times. That is truly executed in a masterful way.
Lee's admiration for Saylor's execution is clear. This isn't just a company hoarding Bitcoin. It's a carefully orchestrated financial maneuver that has turned MicroStrategy into a proxy for Bitcoin ownership. With every strategic purchase, the company has positioned itself not only as a software firm but as a major player in the digital asset economy.
I think crypto treasuries will produce winners and losers. There is genuine scarcity here. Bitcoin is scarce, so it makes sense for companies to hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets over time. I also think banks will, because Bitcoin is being recognized for its proper role as a way to move money through the financial system. The banking sector will likely stake Bitcoin too. They're going to want to own it.
Lee paints a future where corporate Bitcoin adoption isn't a niche strategy but the norm. He envisions a world where not only tech firms but banks and other institutions hold Bitcoin, using it as both a store of value and a critical component of financial operations.
I think Bitcoin should build on this, reaching 120,000 before the end of the year, maybe 200,000 or 250,000. That kind of short-term target shows how bullish Lee is, not just on Bitcoin's long-term potential but on its ability to climb significantly in the near future. For companies like MicroStrategy, every uptick compounds their strategic advantage, increasing both their portfolio and their market valuation.
I think Bitcoin should be worth over a million dollars over time. I also lean toward the view that the four-year cycle may be ending, because of the way institutional adoption is taking place. We now have institutional and essentially permanent holders of Bitcoin coming in.
This prediction underscores Lee's broader thesis. The convergence of institutional adoption and Bitcoin's scarcity could push its price into the stratosphere. For MicroStrategy, that means its balance sheet, and therefore its stock value, could grow exponentially.
There is a certain alchemy to what MicroStrategy has done. They have turned MicroStrategy shareholders into customers. Saylor has essentially orange-pilled every shareholder, has maintained a premium valuation, and has transformed capital markets. That is what needs to happen for the other treasury companies to succeed.
This alchemy is what separates MicroStrategy from other Bitcoin treasury companies. It's not just about buying Bitcoin. It's about building a cult-like investor base that believes in Saylor's vision as much as he does.
I think the day the US says it wants to acquire a million Bitcoin, Bitcoin's price is going to go up parabolically. How would the US even buy it? If you know their wallet, you'll see every purchase, and it will become a national pastime for everybody, because they'd be a long-term buyer. I think it will be easier for them to buy from large holders of Bitcoin, maybe even offer tax amnesty. That's why they're saying it will be tax-free, that they won't tax capital gains. They'll do everything they can to try to acquire Bitcoin. But MicroStrategy has a sovereign put. They hold 600,000 Bitcoin. That's the easiest way to get to a million.
If Lee's speculation comes true, the implications are staggering. MicroStrategy could become the single easiest path for the US government or any major institution to acquire massive amounts of Bitcoin in one swoop.
According to Tom Lee, MicroStrategy isn't just a company. It's a blueprint for the future of corporate finance, potentially reshaping how markets value enterprises. His argument suggests we may be on the brink of a new era in which balance sheets loaded with Bitcoin take precedence over traditional earnings-based valuations. If Lee's vision plays out, MicroStrategy could be to digital assets what Exxon once was to oil: an industry-defining giant that commands respect, not because of its profits but because of the strategic assets it holds.
This is more than a bet on Bitcoin's price. It's a bet on a fundamental reordering of the financial world, where digital scarcity becomes the ultimate measure of value. And if Bitcoin reaches Lee's projected heights, MicroStrategy could very well become the most valuable stock in the world.
I think the best years are still ahead for crypto, Bitcoin obviously, and Ethereum. Not everyone will agree on Ethereum, but we have another generation of people and decision makers growing up in a world where AI is prevalent in their lives and a token economy is becoming real. So I think the best years are still ahead.
Do you agree with Tom Lee? Could MicroStrategy really become the biggest stock in the world? And is Bitcoin the key to making that happen?
