Under what conditions you should invest 100% in gold, what the situation is with physical precious metals, and whether we are on the verge of a crisis, and if so, how you can prepare for it and, above all, protect your moneyโ that's what we'll be discussing today. Today we have multimillionaire Gym Rogers and his most important insights and recommendations from recent interviews.
So, welcome to the success channel! We regularly post new content here, so be sure to subscribe, as there are daily updates from experts and our own analyses of the current economic situation. We'll jump right in with this topic, as he also commented on which country should be on our watchlist, which could actually become a world power, the most important country in the near future.
And now we'll start with "Right the Bull," a new book in which he essentially writes or describes how we live in a very turbulent world. This is, of course, due to the fact that we are currently in a very large bubble situation. In his view, the cheapest assets are actually commodities, because they are still...
Commodities have n't risen nearly as sharply as, for example, stocks, bonds, real estate, or cryptocurrencies, and so he has primarily focused on commodities. Of course, one could argue that if he specializes in commodities, then you usually speak positively about them. He certainly has a legitimate interest in doing so.
And I often say that you should always pay attention to where someone comes from. If someone says ETFs are the panacea, then they usually have ETF links and earn commissions, or perhaps you sell ETFs directly or benefit from them in some way. Therefore, you always have to separate the recipient or message from the messenger.
And here, one can actually say that his statements carry weight because Jim Rogers has a net worth of 300 million US dollars. In such a situation, there's really no need to spread misinformation or express a false opinion. You can truly assume that he is convinced that commodities will reach a new all-time high in the near future, and that naturally includes precious metals.
As I mentioned at the beginning, he personally sees a situation... Given that it makes perfect sense to invest 100% in precious metal gold, specifically when you truly understand it 100%, I find that statement extremely bold. Personally, I would never invest 100% in a single asset, but I am initially convinced of gold's potential.
We hold 10 to 20% in physical gold in a bank safe deposit box, for example. It's very interesting, but no more than that, because you never know if it's really the right horse you're backing. There are always real estate, securities, cryptocurrencies, silver ( as a lesser asset), other precious metals, and other commodities.
He says it's only worthwhile if you understand it 100%, and I find that very interesting because he constantly talks about turbulent times, potential crises, and bursting bubbles. Personally, I've come to the same conclusion as Markus Krall, Dirk Mรผller, or Mark Friedrich: at some point, this money game will be over.
At some point, it won't be like Monopoly anymore, where more and more money keeps flowing into circulation; at some point, you'll own all the streets and all the hotels. Then the game is over, and at that point, gold will naturally explode if money, for example, loses value or even becomes worthless.
This will, of course, lead to the consequence that if you're 100% invested, you can then have a huge profit. But we don't know the exact timing, which is why it's dangerous. I also find it interesting when a multimillionaire makes such statements; there must be a lot of blood on his hands. It's not like all the experts are currently saying everything is fine and the forecasts are all positive; quite the opposite is actually the case.
And even if only half of it is true, we're heading towards a crash sooner or later. That's why he said one should invest in coins. Personally, he doesn't really think much of bars because buying a piece of bread with bars during a crisis is relatively difficult. Therefore, if you get small coins, for example, or combination bars, which are sometimes only a gram heavy, then you have a good option.
So he's actually assuming a possible crisis, and always this image of hyperinflation. The big question is whether gold will work if the price of gold is โฌ10,000 or โฌ20,000, or the equivalent of the then-current currency. Will anyone still be willing to part with their gold? And in a crisis, why shouldn't the baker eat his own bread, or the painter keep his own?
The question remains: does gold really function well as a medium of exchange, or are we simply happy to have enough to eat and keep it for ourselves? Gold does n't play a crucial role in a crisis simply because we can't eat it. Feel free to share your opinion in the comments. He then mentioned a country that he believes will become the largest in the world, both economically and otherwise.
That country is China. The USA is already fighting vehemently against it, and we constantly hear from politicians that the Chinese are being restricted by America, or rather, kept on a long or short leash. It's important to note that the USA... The world's biggest debtor nation is China, so no other country has actually accumulated that much debt, at least not in any significant way.
That's why he says quite clearly that China is almost the world leader in innovation, considering the billions invested in innovation and digitalization. Pretty much every innovation comes from China, including, for example, lithium-ion batteries, which are always manufactured in Asia. Raw materials are also very abundant there.
This means we have a certain danger here again because China is, of course, a kind of dictatorship, with communist leanings. The government intervenes heavily in the market, and if a kind of global or economic dominance were to emerge, it could become very interesting for Europe and America. You can imagine how that would play out.
We've also seen such regulations or, more generally, stronger oversight and control by governments. That 's certainly clear, because we're already seeing these tendencies and approaches in the pandemic year of 2020. That's why he clearly states what investments one should avoid. Ultimately, to be among the winners, you should only invest in areas where you are truly an expert, where you know a lot.
So, don't just buy cryptocurrencies because everyone says Bitcoin is the latest cure, or digital images or crypto art โ that makes no sense because you usually just lose money. Instead, only invest in what you truly understand and what makes sense from your perspective. And for every investment โ and I find this very interesting, it's also a strategy I use myself with my financial decisions โ you should ask yourself ten reasons why you want to buy a particular stock or, for example, gold.
If you can't rattle off ten reasons off the top of your head, then you really need to sit down and do some more research before buying gold. It's best to also check out the gold series here on the success channel; we've answered almost all questions about gold there, and new Q&A videos are uploaded daily.
Therefore, this is an important point you're conveying to us: only invest in what you truly understand. The most important thing is that you have to be patient; there wo n't be any quick money. And for those who are already invested in precious metals, for example, because they are simply convinced of their value, you need a long-term perspective.
In the past, it has actually happened that the gold price sometimes remained unchanged for five years, fluctuating back and forth and thus moving sideways. Therefore, we have to wait until the decisive trigger occurs. This trigger could be a bankruptcy, a country going under, or even a black swan event, perhaps some kind of natural disaster that is truly devastating and hits a major economic powerhouse.
These are the most unimaginable possibilities, a paradox, I might say, but they are the most unthinkable situations we aren't even considering right now, the ones we don't have on our radar, that could potentially bring this financial system to a standstill. That's why I'm very interested in what you are doing with your money in the current situation.
How are you protecting it, and above all, how are you investing it right now? Are you more of a fan of stocks? Are you more of a fan of precious metals? Feel free to write it in the comments and we'll see you next time here on the success channel.
