gold, but there is a risk with gold, so yeah, that means there is, there is not much you, uh, can simply do to, uh, preserve the purchasing power of gold. I'm not saying it can't fall. Of course, it can fall during a liquidity crisis. But to a lesser extent than, say, Micron Technology, Tesla, or SpaceX.
And by that , I mean, if someone wants to hedge their portfolio, they should short any stocks associated with the Trump family. Yes, that's an interesting way to look at things. So, you know, there have been certain geopolitical risks recently. It seems like we were talking right at the beginning of the Iran War , and I don't think we expected it to last 5 months .
How do you see the development of the geopolitical situation in the world? We still have an ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. We still have a war in the Middle East. You know, there are tensions in Asia. You see it keeps getting worse and worse. Well, I think Asia is relatively calm. At least where I live, in Thailand.
But who knows, you understand, everything can change quickly. And I ...it's not that I'm losing sleep. I sleep under any conditions, but it seems to me that the conflict in the Middle East cannot end quickly because no one really wants it to end. The Iranians are at a disadvantage, but I want to tell you something important in this context .
There was a match between Belgium and the United States at the World Cup. Of course? Belgium is a minor country in all aspects except for the diamond trade, which is not in the best shape right now because prices have fallen. And the USA is a powerful country. And I can say that the whole world, whether in Africa, or in Latin America, or in Europe, or here in Asia, was happy that little Belgium defeated the USA.
Why is that? Because for Trump , for the USA and the neoconservatives, for such hard- line supporters as Dick Cheney and Rumsfeld, and similar people—criminals, war criminals. The USA has lost its prestige. When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s, people were fascinated by America. They believed that America was acting for the good of the world.
And this led to the emergence of a president like Kennedy, who gave the world hope. Maybe it was all a lie, but this was a hopeful president. And today the United States has become unpopular almost everywhere. And no one wants the US to simply win the war in the Middle East, with Israel controlling it.
I assure you, after the events that took place in the Gaza Strip, sympathy for Israel in the world has fallen sharply, very sharply. And the US is perceived as a supporter of Israel and a warmonger. And everyone sympathizes with Iran in a certain way, because it is a small player fighting a large powerful state.
And the Iranians are supported through indirect channels by powerful allies. They don't want the US, because the US has now apparently declared the strait almost its territory. It's as if they have hope to make this dream come true. But, ultimately, I want to say that this war will not end soon, because the interests of Israel and the world do not coincide, and the interests of Israel and Iran do not coincide, and so on.
