all right 2024 has come to a close as far as trading is concerned we're now into 2025 but before we get into 2025 I wanted to deliver a performance review for my top stocks and top growth stocks and top dividend stock portfolio and how they performed against the S&P 500 Index and against the dividend ETF I know a lot of YouTubers will not talk about their stocks that underperformed they like to Hype up those one or two selections that they made and then they ignore all of the other recommendations that they made all year long that's not what I'm about that's not what this channel has been about I've been transparent about all my stock selections how they performed whether or not it was a good selection or a bad selection hello Intel the worst selection well maybe not the worst selection but one of my worst Selections in 2024 so I'll review my various portfolios and how they performed performance returns of all of the stocks that I have selected in my various portfolios and I had two portfolios that I kept track of all year long and that's the top stocks to buy portfolio which included which started the year at at 25 stocks and I removed stocks as the year progressed and as valuations changed and then I had a top growth stocks to buy portfolio that I kept track of all year long and then I had a top stock to buy and a top dividend stock to buy that I kept track of all year long I had a list of top dividend stocks to buy but I stopped keeping track of that portfolio maybe eight months into the year or nine months into the year because it was overwhelming all of the various portfolios to keep track of and report on all year long it wasn't because the portfolio was underperforming that I stopped keeping track of it and you can look back and see the videos and see how the portfolio performed and maybe one of you that has a lot more time on your hands maybe a student of mine that's watching this video if you want to go back and look at my portfolio of dividend stocks and how it performed and give us a full year update I think all of us on the channel would really appreciate it but let's stick to the ones that I followed all year long okay so that's the top stocks to buy portfolio here's a list of the stocks that were included in one or more of my portfolios and they include Nvidia Fiverr snap Uber meta platforms Zoom Netflix uipath Visa alphabet the Walt Disney Company and AMD and as you'll notice some of them did really well like Nvidia and some of them did really poorly like uipath and snap but I'm not going to hide those under the rug I'm going to share with you that I selected those I rated those and they underperformed which is a disappointment however nobody can bat 1,000 in the stock market and I wanted to share with you my performance so that you don't get discouraged if you pick stocks that go down in value no nobody is 100% in fact if you can be 70% I think you would be a superstar in this industry over the longer term you can do this for one year and in fact in this selection maybe it was over 70% that did better versus the decliners but that's not going to be sustainable longer term it's going to be some ups and some downs and you hope that the good ones outweigh the bad ones such as here where nvidia's at 171% and the worst one on the downside was just 49% that's what you like to see and then in a little bit I I'll share with you the overall return all right and then some more stocks that I had in there this year were chewy Micron Technology Amazon and Nike and if you're not yet aware the S&P 500 Index the total return this year was 24.84 which is a solid year for the S&P 500 two straight years years of 20% or more returns that's really strong and then the dividend ETF uh sdy returned 8.45% year-to date or I should say for 2024 okay so now that I shared with you the stocks that I had selected and the Returns on those stocks let me now share with you the portfolio performance right so this was as of December 1st you can see here the portfolio return as of December 1st and I updated that on December 31st to include the latest performance results so my top growth stocks to buy portfolio returned an average of 36.2 n% that's up against the S&P 500 which I showed you returned 24.84 per.
so my portfolio of picks uh outperformed the S&P 500 by about 11 and a half% or almost TW almost 50% better return than the S&P 500 Index those are excellent results and I wouldn't expect to do that for the long term I don't expect to be able to beat the S&P 500 Index by almost 50% for the very long term that's just not sustainable for someone with my skill level that's the kind of performance maybe you can expect from someone like Warren Buffett in the long term not someone like me so this is just a oneoff very good year of course I'm happy about that but I'm not expecting that for the very long term now my top stock to buy this year in 2024 was Google and Google delivered 36 or alphabet uh delivered 36% return in 2024 against the S&P 500 Index which again 24.84 per.
so my top stock to buy outperformed the index by about 11% also very good I'm happy about that as well I own alphabet stock so I get a double benefit there I get the shareholder gain return plus I get the benefit of having selected a stock that outperformed the index and then my top dividend stock to buy this year was visa and that also returned 22% and against the dividend ETF which was a return of 8.45% and that was an outperformance of 13.89 percentage points so even better than the other two returns and I'm double happy about that as well because I also own Visa stock and I've owned Visa stock all year long uh probably longer than a year as well as Google I've probably owned it for longer than a year so the next portfolio was my top stocks to buy portfolio and this started the year off with 24 stocks and I added and removed stocks to this list all year uh if you can see here my in my December update December 1st 20 24 update I had uh these that were removed already Salesforce PayPal Target eBay Home Depot and Alibaba I had removed at some point during the year and this was the performance that they had earned up until the point that I removed it from my list I said it was a good time to take profits for most of them and then for Target I really didn't like what I saw from their latest quarterly earnings report that's why I removed that from the list even though it was down 7% year to date so my portfolio of top stocks to buy for the year generated a return of 23.53% compared to the S&P 500 which was 24.8% and so that was an underperformance of 1.31 percentage points so my top stocks to buy portfolio underperformed the index so out of those recommendations most of them outperformed the index one of them underperformed the index so overall I'm happy about the performance this year if I can have this kind of performance every single year from now until when I retire I would be thrilled with those results but again I'm not expecting that for the very long term for the very long term I'm only expecting to beat the s&p500 by a relatively small margin not a a very wide margin at all so if you follow these stock picks and you gain some value I'm very happy about that that makes me almost as happy about the gains that I got from some of these stocks that I own that my viewers got to benefit from my research as well but again please do not take this and run with it and think oh well parv is so great at picking stocks I don't need to do any of my own research whatever stock parev recommends just going to go out and buy it because he's just going to do so well and he knows how to pick stocks please do not come to that conclusion remember this is just one year of results just one year of results where I had Nvidia in there that earned 170% right so just one year you can't jump to those kinds of conclusions with just one year of performance so please continue to do your own due diligence and just use my selections and my research to help you in your own research ion below
