My mission is simple: to help you make ii, I'm Kramer. Welcome to Mad Money. Welcome to Krameritsa . I will be one of your friends. I'm just trying to help you make a little money. My job is not only to entertain, but also to educate, explain, and structure this madness. So call me at 1-800-743-CNBC or tweet at Jim Cramer.
How can we bring a generation of young investors back to the path of truth ? After a great day when the Dow soared 425 points to a new record. The S&P jumped 1.14%, while the Nasdaq rose 0.99%. I see meme stocks taking off again, and I'd like to convince these people that there's a better way to manage their money.
Don't play with money, but rather manage it. I've been glued to the never-ending GameStop saga, including last week's congressional hearings, and it looks like hundreds of thousands of young people, maybe even millions, are hooked on the idea of beating the big hedge funds at their own game. In theory, there's nothing wrong with this, as long as you don't become so obsessed with getting revenge on the system that you forget how to make money.
And people, that is the main goal. I could go on and on about the crazy events of the last two hours of today's session, a day that witnessed a veritable blitzkrieg of coordinated procurement. GameStop, AMC, Bed Bath promotions. It exceeded the wildest expectations of those behind it . Or I can say, "You know what?
It's time to go back to basics ." After all, this is not a team sport, even if artificially swinging that handful of stocks looks like a well- organized team effort, right? So instead of chasing risky meme stocks, instead of getting caught up in an unsuccessful “short squeeze ,” why not try long-term investing?
Okay, there's something that a lot of new brokerages allow—it's fractional share trading, and I don't talk about it enough, and that's my fault, because these are great tools, especially for those of you who started out in dorms, on couches, or on Zoom calls while your name was still flashing on the screen.
Fractional shares allow you to buy quality assets even if you are dealing with expensive stocks. This is a real gift of fate, and you should take advantage of it. So, to encourage people to do the right thing and not just buy GameStop at 147, I want to present a list of stocks in what I call the 500 club, the $500 club, those that are worth $500 or more and that would be out of your reach if it weren't for the miracle of fractional trading.
I'll give you a dozen of them, some of which are still far from their highs even after today. I say I want you to pick three and start shopping. Well, I mean, look, you could choose Bed Bath, BlackBerry, or AMC. Or you can choose these, okay? Now I'm assuming you have a GameStop and it's like how everyone understands when they put away a board game.
First of all, Amazon. Yes, fractional share on Amazon, $3,159. This is not an opening or lockdown event, despite what you may hear. With positive news about the J&J vaccine today, we are about to say goodbye to vaccine shortages. This is why financial managers dumped Amazon. They think this is a "Covid" promotion and want nothing to do with it when we open.
They make mistakes. Amazon is a winner because the pandemic has changed our behavior forever. I'm sure they'll have a great year and their expenses will go down because they spent so much money on COVID. Second is Chipotle for $1,449. These guys cracked the code. They figured out how to make as much money from delivery and takeout orders as they did before the pandemic.
Now the inside of the stores are about to come alive and they're building Chipotlanes, their fancy drive-thru windows everywhere because the malls want to drive traffic and you have to have it, believe me, at least in this one. Third, there is Trade Desk at 781. This is a technological play in advertising that helps companies reach users who have abandoned cable TV and are very difficult to reach.
Now this company claims that 50% of Americans have already abandoned cable. Advertisers cannot effectively reach these people without Trade Desk. What a quarter. You remember what Shawn Colvin said last night, right? At Conagra, 80% of its advertising budget goes online. Here's what you should think about.
Number four, of course, is Cat-Tesla. I get them so confused. Tesla for 742. This promotion is so many things for so many people. But most importantly, you are linking your future not only with Katie Wood, the recognized guru of today, but also with Elon Musk. Right now, my bet is that he's working on something we don't even know about, and it will push the stock even higher.
I'll be the last to know about it because he doesn't love me. It's nothing. I am calm. Fifth—Intuitive Surgical at a price of 758. This company manufactures machines for high-precision surgery. I believed in them a long time ago when I was holding a fundraiser for a local hospital and saw a demonstration of this amazing device .
Machines are one, people are zero, and this is just the beginning. Sixth—Align Technology at a price of 573. This is the company that produces Invisalign. This is a chronically underrated company, even by its own users. If Estee Lauder were in the $500 stock club , I would choose it over Align. And yet, this company has great prospects.
We forget that Facebook, Instagram, and Snap make everyone a potential star, and whether you like it or not, your teeth are always on display. One look at our coverage on Zoom is reason enough to grit your teeth. There are many competitors, but none of them have the prestige of Align. Remember, dentists need their product because they need to make money.
They can't earn enough just being dentists. They need to become something like " invisalignists." The seventh is a company that has just reported after the close of trading. Nvidia, well, it was trading at 590. Usually stocks go down during a conference call because there are people who don't really understand what they're doing , but I accept that, and the First Amendment allows you to be as stupid as you want.
Thank you Jefferson and Madison for taking care of us. When you need the best chips for data centers or gaming, it's Nvidia. The semiconductor industry was previously governed by what is known as Moore's Law. It was formulated by one of the co-founders of Intel. Now it has been supplanted by Jensen Huang's law.
I call it that, in honor of Jensen Huang, who is perhaps the smartest CEO on the planet, a true da Vinci among modern leaders. It is trying to acquire Arm Holdings, which would give it a huge advantage in the field of mobile phones and central processing units. The stock would double if he acquired Arm Holdings.
I'm quite sure of that , but I also know that many don't want him to do it , fearing that Nvidia will become too powerful. I think Nvidia and Arm would be a great combination, but even without that, the stock could go up. Number eight , speaking of semiconductors, we currently have a shortage of them.
This means higher demand for chip manufacturing equipment from the best company—Lam Research. I like this asset just below 597, but I will like it even more during the periodic pullback. Note to NXP Semi: come to the show and explain to us why you're not providing enough of your chips to American automakers.
I'm a outgoing person, if you have a good reason. Nine, businesses need streamlined workflows, and for that they choose ServiceNow. One of my favorite cloud stocks, currently worth 551. This company has gone through a number of quality CEOs, but is now led by the most well- connected person in the world, Bill McDermott, a former SAP executive.
He took ServiceNow to a level I could never have dreamed of. Delay. 10 is Netflix. Listen, friends, I don't like to make things too complicated. This is a $553 stock with a market cap of $245 billion. How did they achieve this? Selecting the content you want to see based on your preferences. Netflix is another company that started growing even before the pandemic.
Now it's so ingrained that it's become the primary way to watch TV for millions of people. Number 11, and here's something you might not know, is HubSpot. This is a $518 stock that is growing like wildfire. HubSpot's cloud marketing software can target you and offer things you didn't even know existed.
Go to the website and see what they did for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which I was supposed to go to last year, but because of the pandemic—I didn't. I prefer Twilio, but remember that I have to be loyal to the "500+" club, and Twilio hasn't even reached 500 yet. Finally, Alphabet, Google's parent company, with a share price of $2,084.
This company has so many underrated gems: healthcare, mobility , entertainment. They have barely begun to monetize most of their businesses. Meanwhile, they have become the third player in the " Mexican standoff"—cloud infrastructure. They come right behind Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Okay, maybe a little further than them.
When you see Thomas Kurian in action , who runs Google Cloud, you realize that this is a serious contender. Additionally , Alphabet has an added advantage as a "post- pandemic" investment because a lot of their advertising has been travel-related. Look, I'm not telling you to give up this crusade to boost the stock of GameStop, AMC, Palantir, BlackBerry, or whatever else the Wall Street Bets crowd has taken to heart.
Although, if you bought a GameStop, say, yesterday for $40 and can sell it for a triple-digit amount, I don't know. To me, that looks reasonable. I know this seems silly to many of you . I just took arithmetic classes in fifth grade and I remember that 150 is greater than 40, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I believe that these stocks were manipulated, that is, raised, very skillfully by those who wanted it - I mean everyone who wanted them to rise, and I wish you all good luck.
But the main takeaway: if you really want to beat big institutions at their own game, you won't do it with GameStop or AMC. You will do this with these companies, understood? You will do it with fractional shares and you will do it right. The $500 Club: Even though there 's nothing more exciting than watching GameStop produce, this is how you create real capital, peopl Kramer with the hashtag #. Missed something? Go .
