I like data centers so much that I wish I lived in one, says Jim Cramer

merica. Other people are looking for friends. And I'm just trying to make a little money. My job is not only to entertain you, but also to educate you. So call me on 1800743 CBC. Tweet me @JimKramer. My God, people. I am not against technology . I am not a Luddite. I really like data centers. I would like to live in something like this.

And I did sleep next to a nuclear power plant during a rather shameful period when I was living in a car. No police officer has ever woken up someone sleeping in a 1978 Ford Fairmont in the parking lot of a long-closed facility in Sacramento. However, on a day like today, when the Dow rose 385 points, we were up 89%.

And the NASDAQ jumped 1.29%. People say it's like I'm running around here with my hair on fire trying to drag you into the greatest winners of all time. Memory stocks, DAS, and great high-speed gaming from companies like Micron and SK Hynix. That's my nickname for SK Hynix, because this monster from Korea, now traded here, has taken over our trading and often determines the fate of our chipmaker stocks.

Yes, the addition of this stock to the NASDAQ 100, which should happen soon, plus the inclusion of SpaceX has added a lot of volatility, which I don't think you fully realize. Oh, and I wish I had hair that could catch fire. But that's old news. Some of you complained that I kept you away from SanDisk, which is up 570% year-to-date.

Micron rose 240%, Seagate 224%, Dell 221%, and Western Digital 218%. I don't know how that's possible. I've liked Micron for a long time. And if you ask Michael Dell who in the media is most positive about his amazing company, I'm sure he'll say Jim Cramer, so I'm not against technology, but I like diversification.

We've had some terrible days lately, with all those stocks I mentioned taking a devastating hit. I started this show in 2005, determined to keep people in the market so they wouldn't fall out of it. Many of you forget that an entire generation of investors was wiped out by betting on the internet. Another cohort was ruined, simply destroyed by the Great Recession, because they had too many financial-related stocks.

They just didn't know it . These two events are the reasons why we all switched to index funds, focusing on the average, because the average itself was diversified. I now run an investment club and have written a book called "How to Make Money in Any Market." Both approaches involve picking individual stocks, but only after you've built a solid position in an S&P 500 index fund.

Most of the so-called smartest investors haven't spent a minute studying what would happen to your portfolio if you bought an index fund and combined it with the best-performing stocks of all time. They hate it when you buy individual stocks. They need your money so they can vote for you. I hate their disdain for your stock-picking abilities.

This is arrogant. This is petty and presumptuous. But I want you to be aware of all the risks associated with concentration, which is one of my biggest concerns about this group. Ultimately, I like technology, but I like to see it in many different areas. If you think Johnson's is just Band-Aids, you don't know this company.

They sold that business. J&J is a balanced company that invents new life-saving drugs almost every month. Later in this program, you'll hear from Bill Brown from 3M. His company, once a powerful innovator, has now reverted to the old 3M with a slew of new products in a wide variety of industries, including data centers.

It can have multi-year growth by leveraging its industrial and scientific expertise. How about CVS, the only real pharmacy left in this country that also provides health insurance through Aetna —a win on two fronts? Have you ever thought about the technology used in running a bank like Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, or BNY, and how you buy these stocks at valuations that are significantly lower than almost all technology companies?

Robin Vince , CEO and Chairman of BNY, whom I introduced to you just last week. Tonight he joined the board of directors of OpenAI and the OpenAI Foundation. Banking technology meets artificial intelligence— it's great. I just don't understand why you can't diversify your investments into these other stocks and sectors and make money.

That's what we do with my charitable foundation, where we've paid out nearly $5 million in profits while remaining diversified through joy and sorrow for over two decades. I don't want you to get " blown out" of the market just because you have nothing but semiconductors and this group had a bad day.

I am afraid that you will suffer losses and move to another form of investment, such as cash, especially those of you who trade with leverage. I'm definitely not against owning technology stocks. Hey, my investment trust's biggest positions are Apple and Nvidia, for God's sake. Sure, they have n't caught up with SanDisk or Western Digital lately, but they are unique, great companies that are making a fortune.

Apple shares are showing success. Nvidia shares are a bit stuck at the moment. Part of this is because they don't sell enough in China. I think it's because Nvidia's customers tend to both praise it and work against it. And the media loves to report every time a customer tries to develop their own chips, abandoning Nvidia.

But it's really cheap, and Nvidia is probably, I think, the best-run company in the world. As I always say, you should own Apple and Nvidia, not trade them. I think the Apple brand will allow us to shift higher memory costs to telecom operators, while benefiting from Alphabet's spending on AI. Nvidia, my position on it has become controversial.

I wanted Nvidia to be the best choice for China, for the Chinese to use our technology. This was a debatable position. It would not be used by the Chinese military because they don't want to depend on an American chip manufacturer anyway. But when Nvidia hit a wall in China, I didn't want American companies to give away secrets for cheap AI.

Hey, why don't you look at the 2017 case that Micron filed against a Chinese entity that stole so much intellectual property. The case turned into a criminal investigation by the Ministry of Justice, in which the Chinese company pleaded guilty. I'm not making this up. I have a lot of respect for Nvidia and will not listen to the arguments.

But not when national security is at stake due to China's access to the classified data of many of our companies. I don't think that's reasonable. Here's my advice. If you want to own a memory chip manufacturer, I like Micron. If you need graphics processors, it's AMD or Nvidia. If you need CPUs, it's Intel, racks, Dell, optics, Corning.

Let it be Corning. We always forget that when semiconductors skyrocket, it's a good time to reallocate assets. But I ask you to realize: as much as I love Micron, Nvidia, or Apple, think about how you are doing with software? Not very well. Also consider: if you bought Micron shares at their peak of 1200, and they are now at 970; or Western Digital at 799, and now it's 548.

If you look at it this way, these stocks have fallen so much that if you bought them on credit, you wouldn't be watching this show anymore, you wouldn't be here anymore . I don't know what you're looking at. I don't know, maybe, uh...uh...I don't know what you're looking at. It's up to you, okay? So remember if anyone has worked with margin trading.

That's right. Worked on margin at Goldman Sachs. You know, I myself took away people's keys after the big crash in the tech sector. Send me what you have. They give me the keys. As a hedge fund manager, I moved into the office of a technology brokerage firm after it was gutted because they couldn't meet margin requirements.

I saw so many people who never came back here because of the 330 stocks that burned in 2000. So , I mean, what do you think? I...I know where I went wrong here. This...I'm trying to get better. I have a big wedding this weekend, my stepson's. I'm just trying to do everything right. Do you know what you will do?

Anyway, the point is, everyone who's been in these marginal situations , you know, they were rich and brilliant before they became poor and stupid? That's what I'm getting at. And not only do I make no apologies for my position, I know I will lose you as a viewer and a club member over the next year if I don't get you to take the need for diversification more seriously.

That's right. Randy, Randy from Michigan. Randy, hi, thanks Jim for all you do. I religiously follow your strategy for one speculative stock in my portfolio. I bought the stock at 34 after the IPO in April and listened to the earnings report in May , the stock I'm calling about is AX. Yes, defense technologies.

People have turned away from the defense sector because they believe that the budget will become a real problem for them . I'm not going to argue with that . I was reviewing all these defensive actions. They are not. It looks like they're not going to recover. As long as they spend so much money on Iran or at least try to remove Iran, that's their plan .

Let's move on to Timothy from North Carolina. Timothy, an important question regarding FedEx, in relation to their integration of Express into ground service. What do you see as their growth potential over the next five years? I am confused about FedEx. Yesterday it fell to six. Today it has grown by nine.

I think Raj Subramaniam is doing a great job. I think it's worth holding FedEx shares for the holiday season. FedEx Freight, in my opinion, is a great spin-off. I left both for the Chapel Trust. I usually get rid of one. This time I didn't do that. I believe FedEx Freight has a big advantage. They will be able to cut costs and become more focused.

These are the things. Technology, I don't know. I do n't know about technology. OK. In any case, diversification is always important, and I am emphasizing this strongly now . Especially since I can't believe I have to defend diversification after everything we went through on Mad Money today. Kimberly-Clark acquires Chem.

How will this help a consumer goods company achieve greater success? I am reviewing this stable dividend company and giving my opinion. You probably hate it because it's stable and pays dividends. Anyway, credit card companies have been doing well lately, but what does this mean for the future? I'm analyzing the charts: 3M just reported an incredible quarter, sending the stock up significantly.

I am meeting with a trusted CEO of the company; learn more about the quarter and the way forward. So stick with diversified C .
