A billionaire investor just warned us. Don't own American stocks. His reason : We are living in the largest investment bubble in American history. But here's what most people don't know. The same forces that are destroying your portfolio are destroying something much more important. Human fertility.
In 20 years, the average couple will be unable to have children without medical assistance. This is a warning from Jeremy Grantham. Over 60 years, he managed investments worth $165 billion. He has survived all the major market crashes. 1929, the dot-com bubble of 2000, the Japanese crash that lasted 20 years.
Today, he connects two facts that most financial advisors refuse to connect. Markets and toxins. And if he's right, both are headed for a collision. Welcome to " Money Under the Table". Let's open the third file. Let's start with the markets. Grantham says we're in a bubble, not because it's a scam.
Vice versa. The best bubbles form around the most important ideas. Think of the railroads in the 1800s. Everyone knew they would change the world. Everyone invested. They reinvested. Shares fell 80%. But the railways still changed the world. Same model with the Internet in 2000. Amazon has grown six or seven times.
Then it fell by 92% . But she survived and inherited the retail business. We are in an AI bubble right now . When Grantham was asked for a simple investment tip, his answer was shocking. Don't own American stocks. Why? Because the American market has dominated for 20 years, and we psychologically assume that what is good today will remain so forever.
History proves the opposite. Markets are cyclical. When one market is wildly overvalued, as it is now in the US, the smartest move is to diversify. His prediction: A 70% drop in AI stocks would not be unprecedented. During the dot-com crash, the NASDAQ fell 82%. The Japanese bubble peaked at 65 times earnings and collapsed for 20 years.
But markets are not Grantham's main concern. He spent billions to combat climate change, and it led him to an even darker pattern: the collapse of human fertility. The data is disappointing. Since 1970, the average sperm count has fallen by 65%. It did not slow down, but fell, and the decline is accelerating by 2.5% every year.
Dr. Shana Swan, lead researcher, predicts that if this trend continues, the median sperm count could reach zero by 2045. This is not the distant future, this is tomorrow. What causes this? Endocrine disruptors, chemicals that mimic hormones and damage reproductive capacity, are everywhere. Phthalates in cosmetics and shampoos actively reduce testosterone levels in male fetuses during the first trimester.
Bisphenols in plastic and cans are synthetic estrogens that critically reduce sperm count. PFAS, the so-called “forever chemicals” in non-stick pans, raincoats, and waterproof fabrics , are directly linked to reduced sperm volume. And atrazine, a pesticide sprayed on corn, has been shown to be so potent that in studies it chemically castrated male frogs, turning 10% of them into functional females.
And microplastics are now embedded in human placenta, breast milk, and 100% of testicular tissue samples tested. Grantham's solution is twofold. First, environmental detoxification. Ban these chemicals, as the EU has done. The EU has banned around 1,500 chemicals in cosmetics. Canada banned 550. United States—12.
Secondly, the detoxification of capitalism. Rebuild society around supporting families, not just profits. Without approximately 2.1 healthy children per couple, society will collapse. It's that simple. So what does this file tell us ? Economically: markets are overvalued. Grantham's advice is to diversify your portfolio, moving away from U.S.
stocks in favor of bonds, precious metals, and foreign stocks. And he points out that most investment advisors have no incentive to warn you. Biologically: the system is broken. If you are planning a family, the researchers' advice is to act now. Pregnant women are advised to avoid non-organic cosmetics and buy organic products, especially the " dirty dozen." Berries , apples, peaches, spinach.
A Harvard study found that couples who consumed the least pesticides had twice the sperm count as those who consumed the most. And society: the social contract is collapsing. High maternal mortality, extreme inequality, and falling birth rates—all these are signs of a civilization that has stopped investing in its future.
Grantham's final message to us all: the sun is shining, but get ready. A storm is approaching. Don't wait for the system to fix itself. Look at the data. Make your own decisions. It was the "Money Under the Table" project. Sign up to open the next file.
