Good afternoon, fellow investors. I'm really, really excited to start summarizing the second part of Peter Lynch's book, " Rebounding Wall Street ," because this book is about how to spot those great investments, those 10, 50, 100- fold returns. What are the categories of shares? How to classify a potential investment?
We will discuss this systematically and in detail and look at it in a modern perspective. So please subscribe and click the bell to receive notifications about modern investing in the style of Peter Lynch, Warren Buffett, and Charlie Munger. I'll start with a brief introduction to the second chapter, which is about how to find those same 10, 20, 50, 100-fold opportunities.
Peter Lynch says you have to notice them. You find these companies by simply looking around you . Okay, what is the essence of business? What is happening? I remember it as if it were today. In 2009, I needed to buy a special book, I searched for it online and eventually found the Italian version on Amazon Italy.
I bought a book, it arrived in another country , everything was fine, but I didn't check the company's stock. I was happy with the other investments I had at the time. They also brought in a good profit. But if you look at Amazon's stock price, it has increased 20 times since then. So if I just looked around, I was using the service, I was using the product, and here you have 20x growth in, what, 10-11 years?
This is simply incredible. So you should look at what is around you and apply the following tools . We will discuss how to use your advantage: where are you located, what is your industry, what do you do for a living? How to find the most promising investors? How do you value what you own? We will look at the fundamental indicators.
Then in the second video that I'm going to do tomorrow, we're going to classify all the stocks, because at the end of this video I'm going to give you an assignment. Something to think about, and tomorrow we'll rank the stocks you mention in the comments below. And the third part, the third video, will be devoted to stock market research and fundamental analysis.
By the end of this overview section, you will have a good idea of how to find a stock and how to decide whether to buy or sell it. That's what this book is about. This is simply an amazing book. There is also a link to the book in the description below if you would like to purchase it. I believe this book should be on every investor's shelf.
She is very funny. Even in books you can find examples of great investments. This book was written in the late 80s and Peter Lynch mentions ADP. So, automated data processing. This is a company that, well, processes payroll and stuff . He says that those who invested in the 1960s received a 400- fold return because so many people used the company.
And those who invested in 1989, finding it in this book as a great business, also made a lot of money. If you look at the graph, in 1989 the price was $4.5. It is now $172. That is, the price has increased 40 times. This is an impressive investment, even without taking into account the ever-increasing dividends.
So, an investor who bought Lynch's book in 1987-89, and it became a bestseller at the time, so a lot of people read it. I could find a great business right in the book itself. So we have to look for great businesses around us, understand them, and so the challenge for you is this : "Write in the comments below three businesses that are not Tesla or some hot new thing.
Three businesses that you would say, "Yeah, that's a good business." It's doing well. I use their products, or someone near me uses them. It's really growing . It's strong. It has a good brand. It has an edge over its competitors. It's got this." Write them down. Don't offer me popular things. Give me something that you'll say, "Oh, now I notice." Now I notice it.
"Check if this company has shares or not. It doesn't matter. Just name the business and write it in the comments below. That's your job, and tomorrow in the video we'll break down these businesses into the six categories that Lynch talks about: from growth stocks and cyclical stocks to recovery stocks and asset companies.
So I'm waiting for your comments. Now it's your turn. Thank you, and I'll see you tomorrow in the next video.
