01. video for today juneteenth and remember while you watch you can get a quote for a life insurance sign up and weeble links down below senator rob portman spoke with cnbc's becky quick late thursday and gave us an update finally on the next round of the 600 per week in unemployment boost that debate and the 450 dollar back to work boost first here are the two facts to know and then let's talk about the new information the two facts to know to make sense of all of this is number one there is in case you're not already aware of this a 600 per week federal boost to unemployment pay so if you're on unemployment you get six hundred dollars per week of extra money and that extra money ends on july 31st the second thing to know is the most popular proposal for fixing with this this sort of expiring six hundred dollar per week plan is to give people 450 per week if they go back to work well that has a lot of people pissed off because on one hand you've got people going well we don't want to disincentivize people from working and then on the other hand you got people going we would love to go to work what do you mean you're just going to take it away you're calling us lazy and it's all very frustrating well finally we have some more insights now senator portman said he started off by saying that democrats are insisting in the house that there'll be 600 per week until january 31st of next year that's what we saw in the hero side on the other hand he said this and he's a republican he says republicans are insisting that the six hundred dollars come to an end but he admitted that this was just a negotiating posture and that there is actually a middle ground so basically he's saying on one hand you got nancy pelosi going no 600 or nothing and then on the other hand you got mitch mcconnell whom nancy pelosi calls the grim reaper because bills go to him to die mitch mcconnell says we ain't doing six hundred dollars so you kind of have these two extremes and senator rob portman basically just admitted like yeah that's that's the leadership's position us like in the senate we're talking with democrats because he's a republican right we're talking with democrats and we're like yeah there's there's a middle ground here this is good this actually sounds reasonable imagine that now this is the reasonable middle ground that he's talking about what he's talking about is a reduced 600 plus up not zero so that means if you're still on unemployment he thinks there's still going to be unemployment boosts like you're still going to see more money if you're on unemployment so it's not going to go down to zero you'll get the state money and some kind of additional money on top of that you might get a back to work bonus when you go back to work this is really interesting and it's the first time we've heard of a back to work boost in addition to maybe maintaining some form of this unemployment pay he alluded to this by calling it a choice you would have the choice to get your for let's say as an example as a number here they're not clear on the number yet but let's say they offered you 450 dollars to go back to work you could potentially also get a 450 boost if you're on unemployment so it's kind of like no matter where you are if you're on unemployment here's 450 and if you go back to work you get to keep that 450 per week for a certain period of time that's the first time we've heard that said and this obviously leaves a bunch of questions open like what if i already went back to work what about those of us who were disabled or on retirement or otherwise not working right this is obviously a very narrow kind of solution for people who are on unemployment and would be going back to work or either staying on unemployment but it's definitely more guidance for something that we're interested in knowing about and especially if you're not on an unemployment but you are interested in the market and the economy and for example you saw my video this morning where i was saying if congress just gets rid of this we're going to have big problems this is actually really good this is a good sign to see that congress is suggesting there is a middle ground here we can actually do a combination maybe a reduced boost combined with a back to work boost this is really like one of the first reasonable things that i've heard in quite a while so i'm happy to hear this and i don't want you to think that i'm fully aligning with this back to work boost thing because realistically i think the easiest thing is just straight up stimulus for everybody uh you know at least for a short period of time while we get through this pandemic that way people can make their payments and things aren't so complicated but unfortunately complicated and congress go hand in hand so uh that this is this is fascinating and he actually went as far as calling it a cliff that is we are at kind of the tip of a cliff come july 31st we're either going to be able to extend some kind of bridge or we're falling off the cliff and that's kind of how i feel too so i find this to be good news now in other good news we continue to see signs that the next rounds of stimulus checks are actually coming now these are rumors at this point but based on the verbiage that we can kind of piece together from what steve mnuchin is saying and donald trump and other people and leadership it seems like the next round of stimulus checks is very likely in the 80 plus percent chance range nobody specifically wants to say it because as we heard rob portman say nobody wants to give up their negotiating posture now there are also things floating around the internet that are saying oh well if they pass that is if congress passes a bill at the end of july it might take two three four weeks to see the checks again i actually personally disagree with that i think the next round of stimulus check payments could come a lot faster and we might actually see it within days of a bill getting signed into law because what did we all go through the first time with the stimulus checks was basically the biggest dress rehearsal and i mean it's real right you got your checks but i mean all in theory they'd have to do now is anybody make any changes okay no changes watch and the money shows up at least in theory which implies that it could come faster but we'll stay tuned and see how this all goes now i do have an update for you on the details of the explore america tax credit there have been a lot of questions about this so i wanted to talk about this a little bit and just remember if you are thinking about exploring america you should probably consider signing up for life insurance and you may as we links down below and remember you can always learn on the go pop some headphones in and learn about money and wealth building on the go i recommend all of you start with my zero to millionaire program in the links down below it'll get you started on finance and get you started with real estate investing by starting with your own home and if you do it right you can build wealth check out that program there is a coupon code expiring in about a week now let's talk about the travel credit this explore america tax credit this has also gotten a lot of negative attention because let's be real who's traveling during a pandemic and it just seems like another handout to people who are wealthier well the us travel association a travel lobbying firm in part because they do spend millions of dollars a year lobbying gave us a prediction or maybe i could call this a congressional recommendation on how the explore america tax credit should be passed and so this gives us an idea as to maybe what some of the larger organizations are thinking that talk to congress and recommend these things see these organizations that spend money on lobbying they can kind of slide over a little post-it note and go hey check out my thor's hammer hey oh is that a post-it note right there that tells you how you should implement this act that benefits all the people in our association yeah you can put that on your shelf yeah that's lobbying right anyway so this is their opinion but they are lobbyists so i think this this is valuable to share they suggest that which i don't necessarily agree with but i'm going to get into it me and my deadpool tie bar i actually have deadpool cufflinks today but you can't see them i really wish i could show these off there you go look at that come on i'm matching today sorry squirrel all right their opinion is that we would see a 50 tax credit right a 50 credit off anything that we spend money on on qualified expenses between the time the act passes and the end of december 2021.

02. that's different you know some things we've heard have been all of 2020 in all of 2021 still up to 4k and here's what they think it should be spent on any travel expenses quote away from home in the united states over 50 and specifically related to meals lodging recreation transportation amusement entertainment business meetings or events and gas now i personally disagree with this because this now only literally applies to traveling and i think the credit should apply to me going to local restaurants as well but again this makes sense because they are a travel lobby not a restaurant lobby so kind of sad but again that's kind of the way lobbying works that's just some potential insight on how this tax credit might get crafted so to speak i do also want to take this opportunity to quickly answer the question that i've seen time and time again in the comments because remember i read your comments i really appreciate all of your comments and your instagram dms and i'm sorry if i can't reply to all of your dms but i do try to read all of them so so i know what's on your mind and what questions you have you do not and this is very very likely if they pass a tax credit you do not have to itemize your taxes to actually take advantage of this so many of you if you don't even if you don't know what itemizing your taxes is then the odds are you take something called the standard deduction on your tax return and a lot of people when they hear well i'm on a standard deduction you know some more deductions or whatever that's not going to help me because i take the standard deduction i don't do itemized deductions don't worry about any of that crap basically if you spend a thousand dollars with a tax credit of 50 percent you will owe 500 less in taxes or you'll get 500 more of a tax refund whether or not you itemize your taxes whether or not you take the standard deduction does not matter this is a tax credit not a tax deduction very very different and we'll see it's all a plan right now it hasn't actually passed yet now a big congratulations i keep falling off my chair over here a big congratulations to all of those of you who applied for the sba's idol grants they are still available and i have now received almost a thousand comments and dms on instagram from those of you sending me screenshots of the money in your bank account those of you posting in the free discord chat that i'm regularly in chatting with you on feel free to join that as well so i thank you for for sending me those photos it's really awesome if you have not yet filled out that form what are you waiting for the government's basically giving you a free thousand bucks you gotta do it just remember when you fill out the form you gotta check the little box that you a they give you a thousand dollars per employee as long as they like what you put in the application watch the walkthrough video talk about that in a second and technically just know when you fill out this form technically you're applying for a loan and the grant you do not have to take the grant in fact you don't have to do anything to get the grant the grant just shows up in your bank account because when you fill out the application you put your banking information in there and the money just shows up you do not have to create an account on the sba's website you do not have to review loan terms you can ignore all of that crap if you want the 30-year loan you could take that as well but you do not need to take the loan to get the grant so you could literally apply for both take the grant and just totally ignore any reference to the loan so if you're wondering oh i gotta i got a loan request but i haven't seen my grant yet just ignore the loan stuff that means you haven't gotten the grant yet and if you're wondering about the status of your grant i recommend you call or email the sba you should have emails with their contact info or go to sba.gov to get more information now if you have not done any of this yet or you still have questions make sure to go to the following links metkevin.com faq so you can learn more and now yes my channel name is meet kevin but since we've kind of met virtually the link is met kevin i know probably not the best branding i gotta fix that it's metcalvin.com faq and you can go to medkevin.comwalkthrough to see a walkthrough and met kevin.com one thousand to apply so slash faq slash walkthrough slash a thousand also in other news the sba and treasury department just announced that for the sba ppp loans those who have received a hundred fifty thousand dollars or more would have their business names made public along with the loan amount those receiving under a hundred fifty thousand dollars would only be included in sort of location totals so if you got a ppp loan for more than 150 000 i think it's actually 150 or more then it is possible that that your name and business name could be publicized so it'll be interesting to see how that goes and we'll kind of see who got all the free money in other news democrats are trying to move forward with a moving america forward act the house has a goal of passing this before the july 4th recess so that way they can be in a better negotiating position when it's time to discuss the stimulus plan and infrastructure bill with republicans heads up even though it seems crazy that the house is kind of pushing through bills this is actually a negotiating tactic because oftentimes the person who writes the offer wins a better battle in a negotiation because the other side tends to be focused on changes while the people who wrote the offer get all the other stuff through as well while they debate the changes so usually the writer wins so it's not a terrible idea for democrats especially since democrats only control the house and these republicans control the senate and the white house now this bill by the way would provide a lot of money for things like drinking water healthcare infrastructure which i had to look up what healthcare infrastructure is and it i guess it's like public health safety like health inspectors information and data for counties and labs and emergency prep like fema kind of response and that not super familiar with that but it does also provide money for broadband and we'd finally get to 100 broadband coverage in the united states and provides more money for public housing now in the meantime 41 democrats are also calling for an additional 175 billion for k-12 schools which is over five times what the cares act provided for education that's crazy now in other news we do want to talk about mortgage forbearance really quickly i encourage you unless you're going to buy soon or refinance i do encourage you to consider applying for mortgage forbearance and you can watch this video that i'm going to link up here and see some more details on my thoughts about mortgage of forbearance and we do have a few other updates governor brad in idaho is giving a 1500 boost if you go back to work and you're a full-time worker and part-time workers would get 750 to go back to work the associated press is now capitalizing the word black when it is used in a racial ethnic or cultural sense so that way it appears as a proper noun and apple has closed uh stores in four states they've closed 11 stores due to sort of the rise in the roni cases which has definitely left the stock market in somewhat of a sad state to end the week which for those of you who do chat with me in discord especially those of you in my program on money and finance congratulations to those of you who joined me in buying into en phase the day short sailors bagged on the company hardcore and we went through the report and were like this report looks like a whole lot of bologna baloney bought the company i personally put 50k into the company and the company is now up about 28 in a matter of two days which definitely makes up for my play on play i won't talk more about dave and busters though that is a long-term recovery play and uh they're certainly getting beat up on this sort of resurgence of a second wave uh in the meantime we've got jimmy kimmel apparently taking a break for the summer after criticism for dressing in blackface in the early 2000s and hey video consider joining you liked this roundup please share this with somebody who needs this information and perspective and folks thank you so much have a wonderful friday evening and a wonderful weekend you
