As you know, I own gold and silver. I've bought more since we last saw each other. Not much, but I bought some. I try to buy more when the price of gold and silver drops. I never want to sell my gold and silver, Claudius. I want my children to receive my gold and silver someday. Put it in a closet, under the bed , anywhere.
Everyone should have some gold and silver. Over the past few days, weeks, and months, precious metals have increased significantly in price. So yes, someone— maybe it's you, Claudio, but someone is buying a lot of them. And I expect this to continue . I expect that for the rest of your life and mine, gold and silver will continue to rise in value.
Why both? I don't know why both. I mean, both have been valued for hundreds of years. Remember Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ was sold for 30 pieces of silver. This has been going on for many, many, many hundreds of years, ever since gold and silver became valuable. And I hope—I know that for the rest of my life, gold and silver will be valuable.
That's why I own them, because I know that at least , no matter how bad things get, my gold and silver will remain valuable, and maybe in an emergency they will help. It has been like this for hundreds of years. Do you prefer one thing over another ? Well, I guess it depends on what's happening at the time.
Honestly, I do n't know right now. They have both grown significantly. I usually try to decide what to buy by looking at which one has dropped the most. That's usually what I decide to buy. But Claudius, I repeat, my gold and silver are not for sale. My gold and silver are for my children, for my heirs, for my life, for my fortune.
If things get really bad, I hope I don't have to take them out of the closet. I want to own them for the rest of my life. But if disaster strikes, I know that gold and silver will help. Gold and silver are a protection mechanism, at the very least, an insurance policy, more than anything else. Jim Rogers just gave a master class.
He says that gold and silver are not for sale . They are for his children, for his legacy. He never sold a single ounce. When prices fall, he buys more. Gold and silver are insurance, not trade. The United States is the largest debtor in history. $40 trillion in debt. Washington only knows how to print money.
They will print and destroy the dollar. Gold will grow forever. He holds cash in anticipation of a crash. When panic strikes, everyone sells everything. That's when you should buy. Hide some gold in the closet. Don't sell it. Give it to your children. If it were 1926 now, we would be talking about the pound sterling as the world's reserve currency and a safe haven.
But 50 years later, Britain went bankrupt. They continued to spend money and accumulate debt. Currently, the world's reserve currency is the US dollar. But I mean, the US has a gigantic debt. The debt is getting bigger and bigger. Well, now is a good time to be an elderly American. This is not the best time for young Americans, as they face enormous problems due to their debt situation.
Just like young Britons had big problems 100 years ago when their currency came under pressure. I promise, it will definitely happen in your lifetime, and it will be a big problem for everyone, well, not just everyone, but the world. Because when the world's reserve currency has problems, everyone has problems.
This happened with the pound sterling 50, 80, 100 years ago, when the pound. When the pound sterling was the world's reserve currency, it created problems for everyone because people owned it and had to do something with it. The same thing will happen to the US dollar. I repeat: the United States is the largest debtor in the history of the world, and the situation is getting worse every day, and they are not going to do anything about it.
It will only get worse, and it will cause problems for everyone, including you and me. Their only solution, the only thing they know how to do, is to print money, and they will print more of it. I mean, if you go to Washington, they'll tell you everything's fine. Ah, they will tell you that everything is fine.
Don't worry. But when problems arise, they will just print, print, and print. They don't know what else to do. I mean , you're an intelligent woman, you're an educated woman. Inflation will rise, the value of the dollar will fall. These are pretty simple things. This has been happening for hundreds of years.
That's all they can do . They only know how to print money. They don't know anything else, and that's what they'll do. I mean, gold and silver are denominated in dollars or some other currency, paper money. And if there is a lot more paper money, whether it's dollars or something else, people will protect themselves with gold and silver.
They always have done it and always will. And everyone has to make their own decisions. But yes, I will continue to buy gold and silver because I know that they, Washington and others, will continue to print money. And I do n't know any other way to protect myself. I mean, let's just say the best way to protect yourself is with gold and silver.
So I will buy more since I know they will print more. They will say no. They will tell many lies. But all they know how to do is print money, and they will do it. And everyone should have some of them . Every debtor country, and that's all countries, must own gold and silver to protect itself. And even if they don't watch your show, eventually they'll realize they have to protect themselves.
They know that the value... They will see, if they don't already know, that the value of paper continues to fall. And what is the way to protect yourself? Yes. Wheat will help you. Oil will help you. But gold and silver are more liquid and useful, and have been for hundreds of years. Well, I'm concerned about the price because if it goes down, I buy more.
I have never sold any gold or silver. But if the price drops, hopefully I'll be smart enough to figure it out, admit it, and buy more. Gold and silver will always protect us if and when everything falls apart. I do n't like it, but I know the facts. This depends on the currency as much as anything else.
And since governments continue to devalue currencies and print money, yes, choose any currency. It may have an absurd price, what we consider absurd prices. But it's simply a fact that governments will print more money and devalue paper money. They will cause the value of money to fall. This means that gold and silver will increase in price.
But what actually happens is that printing money reduces its value, and politicians will continue to do so. Maybe in some countries they will stop for a while, but ultimately, I mean in Washington, that's all they know how to do— print money, and they will continue to do so . And this will cause the price of gold and silver to increase in US dollars and other currencies.
The problem is that even if they are taught, they may say, "Okay, we'll stop." But then , when things go bad, they'll start printing money again. That's all they know how to do. They...these people are n't very smart. That's why they work for the government. I repeat, 100 years ago we would have been talking about pounds sterling.
But everything has changed, it's gone. And in 100 years we will be talking about something else. The US dollar will lose its status, and other currencies will appear . There will be some country that is better governed than the US, where there are no such gigantic problems with debt and money printing as in the US.
As I said, tell me what country this is, but send the letter to the post office. Well, I'll just go back and read some history. There will be panic in financial centers. Banks...Some banks will go bankrupt. Many smart people go bankrupt. And there will be a huge panic, a huge crash, a huge " bear" market, because everyone will be desperately trying to get rid of paper money.
They will want to own something reliable. It will probably be gold and silver for a while. But when the panic comes, I mean, if you haven't already , please read about some of the panics. They are all the same. It doesn't matter if it's railroads 150 years ago or US dollars in 1929. When panic sets in, everyone desperately tries to get out, especially from what was previously reliable and popular.
I mean, AI is great. But we had a lot of things that were great. We had railroads, automobiles, electricity, computers . We had many new developments, economic shifts that led to " bubbles." And every " bubble" was wonderful. But each " bubble" also burst and collapsed. This one will also crack later.
I don't think it will break this week, but it will happen eventually. It will get bigger, bigger and bigger, and then smart people will start selling, and then the " bubble" will burst. I mean, there have been a lot of " bubbles" in history. They all eventually collapsed when people started to worry and turned away from what was popular—whatever that was.
I wish someone would ring the bell. They never call on time. I repeat to you, this has happened many times in history, but no one has ever brought a bell. Maybe you'll go on air and say, "Run away. Run away. "Run away." But no one in history has ever done this . Well, I have a lot of cash now because I sold assets in most markets.
Most markets have become very successful and have reached historic highs. When this has happened in the past, it was usually a time to sell and wait for the crash. Who knows if I'll be able to guess this time. But that's exactly what happened in the past, and I suspect optimism and confidence will grow.
The quotes will go higher and higher, and eventually everyone will say, "Now everything is different." " Everything is different now." And they will buy more and more , and prices will reach absurd values. Maybe it won't happen, but that's how it's been in the past. And if that happens, I hope I'm smart enough to start playing for the downgrade.
Okay, so you hold gold, silver, and cash. Are you investing anywhere else right now, Jim? I own gold and silver, and I also hold mostly US dollars in cash. The US dollar is not a reliable currency, but most people don't think so . That's why I own US dollars. I don't know where I'll put my money even if I sell my dollars.
I look under the bed. You're right, that's an extremely good question. This is an extremely important question. Where do you store your assets? And I mean , there is often a reliable bank in your country or city where you can put your money in a safe . But you need to find banks that are more reliable or less unreliable, and you can store your assets there.
But a person has to look for a place where there is no big borrowing, where there is not so much debt, and where they don't... I mean, if you put money in a bank and they lend it out, they can lose everything. Because they loaned your money to someone else. You have to be very, very careful to make sure that the place where you keep your money is safe.
Not everything is safe. Oh, Singapore has been a country for the past few decades that hasn't accumulated a lot of debt or borrowed a lot of money. There is a lot of leverage in this economy. Although that is changing. Debt is increasing, but at this point it's a pretty safe place compared to most other countries.
I mean, the United States is the largest debtor country in the world. Singapore is not the largest debtor country in the world. But even Singapore is accumulating debt. But I'm looking. I mean, I keep an eye on what currencies will rise and what countries will develop every day. To some extent, I feel that I owe a lot to the many people who have helped me in my life, whether it was a teacher or anyone else.
I've been helped a lot, so I believe that if someone wants to ask me, I should help. Of course, I made mistakes, and I want people to know that, but I think I should try to help. I will tell everyone that I am wrong, so you should make your own decisions. Don't listen to other people. But if you want to listen to me, I'll tell you.
However, I will also warn you that I make mistakes. It's best to make your own decisions. Then, if you make a mistake , you will know what happened. If I advise you to do something and it turns out to be a mistake, you won't know what to do. After all, you won't know why you bought it in the first place.
But if you make your own decisions and make your own mistakes, you will know what to do.
