Hello, welcome to Pisk, and today in Pisk, we'll be discussing the stock market's legendary investor, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Everyone knows Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, known as India's Big Bull, and his wife, Rekha Jhunjhunwala, now oversees his portfolio. Rekha Jhunjhunwala is also known to most investors, and after his passing, she manages his portfolio.
As before, both new and old investors keep an eye on his portfolio. Investors make decisions about which shares he's buying and where he's selling his stakes. His portfolio's performance is also closely monitored. Today, we'll discuss his portfolio 's performance. So far in 2024, Rekha Jhunjhunwala's portfolio has performed well.
Furthermore, it has outperformed even the best investors in terms of performance. You may recall that Rakesh Jhunjhunwala had a strong trust in the Tata Group and had significant exposure to its companies. Investments are also important. Their performance here is also worth watching. We are going to tell you all about this in this report.
In 2024, Rekha Jhunjhunwala's net worth has increased by more than 7 percent. This is an increase of 22,865 crore rupees, which is the figure from January to March 22. Talking about performance, during this period, the Sensex has risen by almost 1 percent. On March 22, Rekha Jhunjhunwala's net worth reached the level of 4676 crores.
On December 31, 2023, this figure was 8811 crores. Now you will think that 7 percent is not much in a month, but understand it this way: if you invest money in FD or any other savings scheme, then it gives an interest of 78 percent in 1 year. Here, Rekha Jhunjhunwala's portfolio has increased by 7 percent in just 3 months.
Now, one more thing is to be understood here. The major reason behind this strong performance of Rekha Jhunjhunwala's portfolio is the Tata Group. Tata Group 's stocks have done well this year. Since January, Jhunjhunwala has a significant investment in four Tata Group companies, including Titan Company, Tata Motors, Indian Hotels Company, and Tata Communications.
Jhunjhunwala has invested ₹2,557 crore in these Tata Group stocks, accounting for approximately ₹61 billion of her portfolio. The value of her investments in these companies alone has gained ₹ 1,652 crore this year. Tata Motors has risen ₹24 billion this year. As of March 22 last year, Jhunjhunwala's investment in the company was ₹842 crore.
This year, she has gained ₹83 crore. Indian Hotels shares have risen ₹27 billion this year. Jhunjhunwala's investment in the company last March was ₹1,673 crore, which has now increased to ₹3,357 crore. Tata Communications shares have risen ₹9 billion. Jhunjhunwala's investment in the company was ₹8 crore, which has now increased to ₹80 crore.
Similarly, Titan shares have risen ₹9 billion this year. 1, in which she has invested 17683 crores, whose value has increased by 158 crores this year. Apart from this, if we talk about other stocks, Rekha Jhunjhunwala had invested 1947 crores in NCC last year, in which she made a profit of 577 crores.
If we talk about Central Bank, she had invested 252 crores, in which she made a huge profit of 508 crores in the first three months of this year. Another thing worth noting here is that it is not that Rekha Jhunjhunwala's portfolio has performed better than the benchmark index. Jhunjhunwala has also surpassed stalwarts like Mukul Mahavir Agarwal, Dolly Khanna, Ashish Dhawan, Ashish Kacholia, Vijay Kedia, Anil Kumar Goyal and Seema Goyal in terms of returns.
Dolly Khanna's portfolio has increased by 6.5% this year, while Agarwal's portfolio has increased by 1.7%. On the other hand, the portfolios of Vijay Kedia, Ashish Dhawan, Anil Goyal and Seema Goyal have been seen underperforming the market. These have declined by 2 to 13 percent this year. All of them have suffered losses due to the sharp decline in small-cap stocks this year.
On the other hand, Ashish Kacholia 's portfolio has risen by only 1.5%. Rekha Jhunjhunwala's portfolio has only two stocks that have given negative returns during this period. These are Nazara Technology and Metro Brands. In March last year, Jhunjhunwala invested Rs 439 crore in Nazara, which has suffered a loss of Rs 104 crore this year.
Talking about Metro Brands, he has Rs 1464 crore invested in it, which has resulted in a loss of Rs 183 crore. Clearly, the stocks chosen by veteran investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala are still providing huge profits to his family. Even the current stalwarts do not seem to match Jhunjhunwala's portfolio in terms of performance.
