Ray Dalio. This investor is very well published and respected. He has a lot of interesting things to say and I think he shares a lot of wisdom. I wanted to take a look at what he invests in and see what he's about. Overall, he's his performance has been okay. He isn't leading the pack. I think leaders of the pack right now are Warren Buffett, Pat Dorsey, but Ray Dalio has had positive returns.
Let's take a look at what he owns and how he goes about investing for what's interesting about their holdings is that a majority of their investment is in the S&P. If you look at their investment in an S&P ETF, a spider ETF, 22.3% of the portfolio is invested there. And then another 5.5 is invested in a different ETF that is pretty much pegged on the S&P.
So you have about 28% of the portfolio in the S&P. Now, year to date, the S&P is down about 4%. So that part of the portfolio is not doing so good. It's losing money in 2025. Emerging markets is the next investment at 4.7 and it's should be doing better. Markets like China and other places like Germany, Poland are really outperforming the US markets.
Now, this portfolio has many different stocks, many different positions. The biggest one is with Google Alphabet and can't argue with that one. That is one of my holdings. But the stock is down quite a bit in 2025. Nvidia is also down and I don't know that Nvidia is going to outperform going forward.
Looks like this fund has a gain on both Google Alphabet as well as on Nvidia so far. Meta is the next position and that's my biggest position and I think that Meta is doing terrific. It's up a little bit in 2025 but over the last two years it's just been a great performing stock. Microsoft is the next stock.
So, it's a the individual stocks that they own pretty much are the cream of the crop when it comes to technology. Microsoft is 1.3% of the portfolio. And year to date, Microsoft's not having a good year. It's down more than 10%. Vistra, which is a power generator, is next. Now, this one's a riskier trade.
This is a company that produces power, but they're really coupled to the AI buildout of data centers. And I think that's going to be a risky investment. It's not doing so well in 2025. And I think this one is so far a lagard. So, just to recap, we've gone over about seven different positions in the portfolio.
None of these positions are making money, gaining ground in 2025. They're all down. Interesting. We need to go down to the ninth position in the portfolio to find McKessan, which is a company that is up more than 16% in 2025. McKessan is a health care provider. They distribute a lot of the products that hospitals and doctors need.
It's about 1% of this portfolio. So, it's doing quite well in 2025. But again, the first eight positions of this portfolio are not doing well. It's really losing money. Constellation Energy is the next stock and it's down a little bit. It's down about 1% in 2025. Visa is up about 6% this year. AMD is down big and the next winner is Sigma.
So, the two stocks that are doing the best are actually in healthcare, which is a sector that's working really well. And then Amazon's the next stock and it's not doing well. It's down about 10% in 2025. So, this super investor really spreads the um capital around many different companies and they actually invest in the S&P.
It's not much of a super investor if you ask me, not making precise big bets into stocks. So, I think that Ray Dallio is a really interesting person. He has a lot of interesting things to say, but I I just don't can't say that he's a great super investor. He's not a Warren Buffett. He's not a Pat Dorsy that maybe owns 20 stocks and and those stocks are doing well for the most part.
So, it's a little bit of a mixed bag when it comes to Ray Dalio. I can't learn much from his portfolio because he spreads to so many different stocks. You might as well just own an ETF instead of trying to, you know, learn something from his portfolio. So, that's my review of Ray Dalio. I was a little disappointed that he didn't have big bets that he's just pretty much over diversified and his performance is pretty much poor in 2025.
He is losing money in most of his top positions. I think out of the top 15 biggest positions, only three were in the green and 12 were in the red. So, not very good performance. If you look at Michael Bur, he's doing really well in 2025. Pat Dorsey is doing really well in 2025 and those two investors I really learn a lot from.
They have fewer positions and I'm gonna continue to study their portfolios. As far as Ray Dalio, it's good to see what he owns, but I'll probably not visit it again. I just did not learn much from it and that's uh my opinion on it. Let me know what you think of Ray Dalio. Again, I have a lot of respect for him, but uh didn't learn much from his portfolio. Thanks for watching.
