Around 4:30 PM yesterday, a man in his 30s, identified as A, murdered a woman in her 20s, identified as B, in an officetel before fleeing the scene. I saw police heading there. I was startled, wondering what happened; they were moving busily as if something serious had occurred. It is reported that an acquaintance, who heard B scream during a phone call just before the crime, visited the officetel , discovered the body, and called 119.
The Japanese victim, B, reportedly entered the country this month and had been staying at an acquaintance's officetel. After committing the crime here, A fled and was captured by police about eight hours later. He was caught at a motel in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, more than 100km away from the crime scene. Police investigation revealed that the two had met twice this year, but they were not in a romantic relationship, and there was no history of stalking.
A reportedly stated that he intended to commit suicide after failing in stock investments and attempted to die with the victim, whom he knew. However, police are focusing their investigation on the fact that A prepared a weapon in advance and discarded some tools while fleeing to Jeonju. Police plan to request an arrest warrant for A and uncover the exact motive through an autopsy and digital forensics of his mobile phone.

Reporter Kim Bo-dam. Police and fire trucks arrive one after another in front of a residential building. Around 8:00 AM today, a man in his 60s, identified as A, visited the home of his ex-wife located here. I saw them being carried out on stretchers a little while later. They had bandages wrapped around their heads.
After attacking the woman, A went down to the first floor and fled in a vehicle . The victim's family checked the front door CCTV, saw A leave after about 10 minutes, and called the police when they could not reach the victim. The woman was found in the living room unable to communicate and was transported to the hospital.
It was found that the victim had requested a smart watch from the police on the 16th, stating she felt anxious after her ex-husband, whom she divorced three years ago, called her. Police recommended filing a report and installing security measures like a CCTV , but the woman feared it might provoke her husband.
She said she would stay at an acquaintance's house and only accepted a smart watch. It is reported that she could not press the button on the smart watch she was wearing during the sudden attack. There was no record of 112 calls for domestic violence or stalking in the past three years, but she reportedly mentioned being hit in the head with an object by A during their marriage.
A was arrested two hours after the crime while lurking in front of the victim's sister's house with a weapon. Why did you wield the weapon? The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A on charges of attempted murder. This is KBS News, Kim Bo-dam. We reported yesterday that a man in his 60s killed a woman in her 40s with a weapon on a downtown street at night.
It was confirmed that the victim had already reported the man to the police four times, but she ultimately could not escape the crime. This is a report by Go Min-ju. A woman who was killed by a stabbing from a man she was romantically involved with in the heart of the city. Investigation results show the assailant bought the weapon a month before the crime and waited near the woman's home.
However, the victim had reported the man to the police four times previously. She reported him twice last October for stalking, and in March of this year, she reported being threatened with the distribution of a sex video. Then in May, she reported being a victim of dating violence. She said she wanted to break up, but since she wouldn't meet him, he kept calling and texting her, stalking her.
She tried to avoid him, but the man kept insisting on meeting. The police explained that each time the four reports were filed, they were closed because the woman did not provide a victim statement or did not want the case processed. Instead, starting in August, they managed the case as a 'B-grade', which involves monitoring once every two months.
Then, when it was confirmed that the assailant visited the woman's workplace last month, the police provided her with a smart watch and a personal safety alarm. At the time of the crime, the woman was wearing the smart watch, but it was found that she couldn't call for help as the man forcibly tore it off.
Compared to electronic ankle monitors ordered by courts, the smart watch was easy to rip off, making it useless. The police have applied for an arrest warrant for the assailant on murder charges and plan to further investigate the sexual violence charges that were previously closed due to insufficient evidence.
This is KBS News, Go Min-ju. Jeong Chang-seong, accused of murdering a Chinese exchange student who attended his class and then mutilating and abandoning her body, was sent to the prosecution under arrest today. This is reporter Baek Gyu-jin. A 31-year-old Chinese university lecturer, Zheng Changcheng, has been referred to the prosecution under arrest for allegedly murdering a Chinese exchange student in his studio apartment , dismembering her body, and abandoning it in various locations nationwide. Despite his brutal methods and attempt to confuse the investigation by disguising himself in the victim's clothes, police diagnostic tests did not classify him as a psychopath.
During police questioning, Zheng stated that he committed the crime out of fear of losing his job after the victim threatened to inform the school of their romantic relationship. Out of the five locations identified for the abandonment of the body, additional human remains, including bones, were recovered from three sites: Gyeongju, Sangju, and Daegu.
Police have executed search and seizure warrants on 14 locations, including Zheng's residence, securing over 200 pieces of evidence, and are continuing the search for the remaining remains. Zheng’s past behavior has also come to light. Three years ago, he demanded a relationship with another Chinese female student, and when she refused, he threatened to prevent her from graduating.
Although the victim sought help from the university’s international office, the school’s only measure at the time was a verbal warning. We called him in for a talk, and there were no such incidents recorded after that. Since there were no additional reports or ongoing issues, I believe the matter was concluded then and there.
The police have decided to provide emergency support to the victim's bereaved family, including psychological counseling and the appointment of a public defender. This is KBS News, Baek Jin. The two had dated for four years in the past, but the man continued to stalk her after they broke up. The man waited near the woman's workplace early yesterday morning before committing the crime.
The man followed the woman, who was on her way home, for about 400 meters before attacking her with the weapon in this alley.
