hello. I am a rich older brother. I performed a rebalancing today, and I’d like to briefly share the details . I transferred the Uh Sok and TQ to Lia's account . As you know, the RIA account offers tax-free benefits of up to 50 million won if you transfer US stocks to a domestic account. Of course, although the percentage varies by month, capital gains tax on U.S.
stocks is 100% exempt until May. Up to a limit of 50 million won. So, in order to receive a benefit of about 30 million won , I transferred 150 shares of TQ to the Lia account . I will probably proceed with the selling later in the pre-market . Now, since the profit is about 30 million won, I guess I won't have to pay about 6.6 million won in taxes .
Since I am starting with a profit of 6.6 million won, even if the rate of return drops a little after switching to domestic stocks, I do n't think I will feel too wronged. Judging by current trends, Samsung Electronics and Hynix are outperforming US stocks, so I don't think it's a bad idea to switch to a Lia account .
Actually, I didn't think about it at all at first, but when considering what would happen if a major correction occurred, a single stock is indeed more advantageous than triple leverage in terms of protecting returns . First off, since I have held Samsung Electronics for a long time, I am currently considering SK Hynix .
However, if you look at the MDD of SK Hynix and SK Group over the past five years, when SK Hynix was cut in half, TQ dropped by 83% and SK Group fell by over 90%. Even though it tracks the index, because it has three times the leverage, it tends to fall more significantly than individual blue-chip stocks when it encounters a bear market .
So, rather than simply thinking about the expected rate of return, you can consider it to have a certain degree of asset protection as well. Does that mean the rate of return will drop? On the contrary, it is the opposite. Over the past five years, Hynix had a much lower MDD but the highest return. Over the past five years, Hynix's return on investment was about 1560%, the payoff was 390%, the TQ was 203%, and considering it withstood an MDD of -80% and 90%, the return on investment isn't that high.
Of course, if you had entered at the bottom, the return would have been much better than this, but simply looking at the cumulative return based on lump-sum investments over the past five years, Hynix had the best return. The rate of return was the best, but the decline from the peak was lower. Naturally, it can be said that this marks the completion of Hynix.
Crucially, Hynix does n't even pay taxes on capital gains. Uh, on the other hand, for Sok and TQ, the tax is only levied up to 2.5 million won, and for amounts exceeding that, you will have to pay a 22% capital gains tax. Uh, since I have to pay capital gains tax every time I rebalance, I realized that the tax burden is actually quite significant.
Even though I’m not the type to really worry about taxes, it’s true that I feel like it’s a waste when I actually have to pay them. So, I ended up doing the Rebalance Swing. Well, I wouldn't have considered it if it were a different stock, but since Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are the trend these days due to the HBM issue, I thought the timing wasn't bad.
Even if a correction comes, since the stock is 3x leveraged anyway, it seems unlikely that it will fall less than Hynix; if anything, it will fall even more . So, if I add Hynix to the portfolio this time, I think I will go with three individual stocks: Nvidia, Samsung Electronics, and Hynix. For direct investment in the US, I plan to continue investing with roughly these types of funds: the 1x semiconductor SXQ, 2x USD, 3x SXL, and the Q-Top 3x leverage GT QQQ, which invests in the top 30 NASDAQ stocks .
Although the number of stocks is somewhat diverse, ultimately, it’s practically the same as going all-in on tech stocks and semiconductors . There are no other sectors. I believe that the two sectors of technology stocks and semiconductors will make me rich, so I plan to continue investing. Well, it ca n't be helped even if it's not.
Anyway, believing that, and although it is still just the beginning stage, I will give it a try with the hope that it will yield quite a significant profit after a while . That's all for today's video . thank you
