That these are Gandhiji's three monkeys, so most of us investors do the same. We do not want to learn anything new and we repeat the same mistakes again and again. This is the biggest problem in the stock market. And the second thing somebody was telling in the previous speech was that money attracts money.
I don't think money attracts money. There is a court of mind which says that your mental capacity is more than your financial capacity. I am talking about direct investors in the market. So your mental capacity is Morant. You are going to make the mistakes when you have liquidity when you have more money in your hand.
So at that time your mind does not work because money dominates it. So money does not attract money. Actually knowledge attracts money. And before this there was talk of retirement. So what he meant to say was that if we take life insurance , we take insurance. This does not mean that everyone is going to die or that we will die any moment.
But there is a safety in taking insurance. Similarly, there should be such planning for retirement also. That is the same thing. But I want to tell you all that you should never think of retiring in life. The day you think about retirement, you manifest in your mind that you have to retire. I felt that from that day onwards your growth in life will stop and your speed will stop and if you people observe, you will realise that the plight that a person faces after retirement, if I use the right words for it, or look at the big officers, whether they are IAS, IPS or big bureaucrats or whoever is a businessman in their line, you just look at them once, as long as they remain active, as long as they work, as long as they remain active, they have life.
Once someone retires, their life is completely ruined. So do n't think about retirement in life. You have to work as long as you live. Planning is the second thing that must be done. Margin of safety and planning for adverse times must be done. Because life is all about ups and downs. And a lady was asking, she asked four questions about the risk.
So my quote in that is that risk lies in not knowing the risk with in the risk. I feel that everything in life is a risk. You are going on the road, walking, that too is a risk. You are driving , that is also a risk. You are such a good driver and you know how to drive very well. But there is a risk that another person may come and hit your car.
So everything in life is a risk. So you should understand what is the margin of safety ? How do I minimize that risk and how do I work out whatever calculated risk is there to some extent. You think of an example, if we were talking about risk, then today I think not even an ounce of gold is produced in India, those who do mining must be very negligent, right now someone is saying Hindustan Copper or who said I extracted it or whatever it is, but we import all of gold, probably we import gold worth 50.25 billion dollars, so if someone had told you 20 years ago that you should work in gold, ah gold, but still the jewellery shop is running, still the market cap of Titan is 3 lakh crores, it is all based on imports, and the prices of gold fluctuate.
Sometimes the import duty is 2%, sometimes the import duty is 15%, but till date not a single Titan showroom has been closed and in fact they are opening continuously. Rather, other jewelers also came and got listed. So if we add all of them together, the market cap of just the jewellery companies and the gold jewellery companies will be Rs 4 lakh crore.
So they created a balance for themselves in such a way that the price of gold increases or decreases but the showrooms do not close. So life is also like this, share market is also like this that you have to understand your margin of safety here and like one sir told that we will not take risk then what do we have to do in life and because later he told that there are many students so this is for them only.
I want to share one thing with you. So keep one thing in mind that one innovation can change your ecosystem. One leader can change your country. One idea can change your world. One mentor can change your mindset. One lesson can change your approach. One opportunity can change your career, one bull market can change your net worth, and one stock can change your life.
So this is not just a poem. Let me tell you about my life, how thank you. How Can One Stock Really Change Your Life? I buy one company, one stock out of few which really changed my life. I am talking about one of them. And that is Cera Sanitary Ware. I bought this company in 2005 and something around 2005 and at ₹70, at that time the price was ₹70 and by 2008 before this Lehman Brothers crisis the stock price went up to ₹25 and in this crisis whatever crisis of this sub prime came, the stock price fell down to ₹50 I held on to all my shares and after that you should understand this, this is what people say that the bull market in India which ended in 2008 really started in 2014.
This is what whatever theory of bull market bear market is there, it is said from that that the bull market started from 14. And I will tell you that this stock after that from 208 it went from ₹50 to ₹ 250. From 250 it came down to ₹100. From 100 it went to 500. Then that 300 came. The promoter of the company was a dynamic boy who made all the changes in the company and the stock price went down from there and then it went to ₹1500, then it fell by 50% every time, its value got wiped out, then it came down to ₹800, then it went to 4000, then it came to 2000, then during Covid it became 400, 45200 something and during Covid it again came back to 2000, then last year it became ₹8000 and in between this one to one bonus came and for that if I invested ₹17080 in it, he gave me a dividend.
But if one to one bonus came, if I add that dividend then I got a dividend of ₹250 x bonus because it got doubled, so if I take the costing of 70 then I got a dividend of ₹250 in 167 years which is double than what I could have burned in fixed deposits. So this is my return with my FD, my price has matched with that, it has become better because understand that my price has become four times or whatever it is and the price last year was ₹8200 after ex bonus, so that means ₹16200 and I sold my remaining balance stake, whatever was left of mine, more than 1% of whatever, I sold it ₹ 16000 at ₹8200, that means ₹16200, so if I give dividend to that company, then my value, my cost price, is zero.
So the stock gave me a return of 16,200 times. 16,200 times in 17 years. It is not the It is not the It is not the percentage I am talking about. It is the times return. So this is what I said that one stock can change your life. All you need for that is knowledge, courage and patience. You will have to keep these three things.
Knowledge to identify a good script and courage to buy in a meaningful quantity compared to your net worth whatever you have and patience to hole in all the adversity all the crises like supreme and covid and whatever you have faced in the last 20 years. So this is what the return stock market can give to you.
So this is what all you students should understand that one stock can really change your life. So but to identify that stock is variant, you need to have a lot of knowledge about it. For this I have written another analogy of yours which I feel that the knowledge that you have is your luck. Whatever you know, whatever you understand, decides your destiny.
They become your destiny through that. Ok? So I wrote an analogy for that. I will read it out to you. Then We Will Take Q &A We Will Have Q&A Sessions Knowledge Fuels Practice and Practice Builds Experience and Experience Teaches Lessons and Lessons Shape Decisions and Decisions Drive Actions and Actions Deliver Results and Results Create Luck.
So ultimately, the knowledge, the thing that you know, as I told you, directly decides in which direction your destiny is going to go in life, so you should know that luck is more important than money, you can have money but you can lose it. But you cannot lose what you have learned. You should keep sharpening it.
So that's all I have to say for today, let me just tell you one thing in the end. I have written another analogy that and
