What is the best for me to do in a in a scenario of collapse and how much time do I have before the collapse comes? If the collapse comes tomorrow, I won't have time to sell everything. And even if I sell everything and I have everything on deposit, what about if the deposit collapses, the bank where I keep my deposit?
Or what about if the Treasury says, "We're not paying you the interest on the government debt anymore. We changed our mind. The president changed his mind. He never changes his mind, but about that he changed his mind." But I think is not the best, but it's probably reasonably good if you can keep it is to have money in gold and silver and platinum.
The global financial architecture is barreling toward an inevitable systemic breakdown that will leave capital markets paralyzed. Investors relying on standard banking deposits and government debt face catastrophic defaults once sovereign authorities refuse to pay interest obligations. Marc Faber, a renowned Swiss investor, author, and publisher of the Gloom, Boom, and Doom Report emphasizes that allocating capital into physical gold, silver, and platinum provides the only reasonable protection against total monetary decay.
While tangible commodities may experience short-term volatility, their fundamental purchasing power will be preserved far better than overvalued equities. The impending reset will also trigger heightened risks of government expropriation. As institutional trust in the dollar completely evaporates and states scramble to seize private wealth reserves, hedging effectively will require anticipating these extreme sovereign interventions before market liquidity disappears entirely.
Now, we present the clips from Marc ; The system will collapse one day, and I'm asking myself constantly the question, what is the best for me to do in a in a scenario of collapse, and how much time do I have before the collapse comes? If the collapse comes tomorrow, I won't have time to sell everything.
And even if I sell everything, and I have everything on deposit, what about if the deposit collapses, the bank where I keep my deposit, or what about if the Treasury says, "We're not paying any interest on the government debt anymore. We changed our mind." The president changed his mind. He never changes his mind, but about that he changed his mind.
This administration is a circus, is a clown show, but I think is not the best, but it's probably reasonably good if you can keep it, is to have money in gold and silver and platinum. Now, there is a risk of expropriation, and Trump would not hesitate to do expropriation. He's been convicted for fraud and embezzlement on repeatedly.
He's used to be a a thief. So, he wouldn't hesitate to take the gold away from other people. And he's taken reserves away from other people as as the US government done for years. That's why nobody trusts the US dollar anymore. The purchasing power of gold will be maintained. Now, I'm not saying it can't go down.
Of course, it can go down in a liquidity crisis, but less so than say Micron Technology and Tesla and SpaceX. And at that try I mean if someone wants to hedge his portfolio, he should short any stock related to the Trump family. The collapse of the system, it sounds like you think, you know, the US hegemony is if it's not, you know, it doesn't seem like there's any other country that will come up up and overtake it, but it's obviously at risk of, you know, bifurcating.
What new system do you see? I'm telling people anything can happen. I don't think that China or Russia want to be kind of a hegemon and control the world, but China wants to control Asia. That is good enough for them and they don't want to be threatened by the US and by the US bases surrounding China.
That is clear. That is a long-term goal. And uh I suppose the Middle East they want to don't want to be threatened by Israel and I assume that some countries feel threatened because Israel has nuclear weapons, whereas the other countries don't. And in politics and in in war strategies, if one participant has superior weapons, the others want to acquire these weapons as well.
And in Europe, the sentiment is for sure they don't want to be controlled by Russia, but they don't want to be the slave of the US either. Oh, this is the feeling of ordinary people, you understand? The politicians may have a different view. The politicians may kowtow to to the American presidents and to the US, but ordinary people want to be Europeans.
They don't want to be Americans. And so the world may not have a leadership the way it had post-Second World War. And we may move into a multi-polar world. But under the current circumstances of trade wars, I don't think that this very good for economic growth and prosperity. That's my view. My main message is it's a sad testimony to democracies that democracies over time have produced worse and worse leaders.
Completely incompetent people never worked a day in their lives. Or they were born with money and so on and I have to say when I look at the US and I have many people who are acquaintances and friends of mine and so many people are brilliant people, scientists, and economists, and social observers, intellectuals.
And here you have a government that is completely incompetent. Terrible. Yeah, it doesn't seem to And people tell me yes, they're better than the others. That I admit. I I I've always said I would vote for Mr. Trump and I would vote again for him when the choice is Kamala Harris and Democrats that are communists.
They're not Democrats, they're communists and socialists. Geopolitical power dynamics are rapidly shifting away from historical unipolar dominance toward a fragmented multipolar international structure. Regional powers are solidifying distinct spheres of influence with China expanding operational control across Asia to neutralize foreign military bases.
While Middle Eastern nations aggressively seek deterrent weaponry against existing nuclear imbalances. Concurrently, European populations are increasingly rejecting foreign subservience in pursuit of genuine regional autonomy, diverging sharply from the agendas of their political leadership. The ongoing proliferation of aggressive trade wars will inevitably paralyze international commerce, depressing global economic growth and undermining long-term prosperity across both developed and emerging markets.
This structural breakdown will leave the international monetary and trading systems permanently divided without centralized leadership. Now, let's get back to the interview. Let's assume that the current system will come to an end one way or the other. That the Yes, I call it a bubble. That this bubble will come to an end.
And this bubble is gigantic because the government printed money for the last 40 years, and especially after COVID, which was used as an excuse to print. So, they printed the massive quantities. And the problem with money printing and that I to my credit, I expressed the view when Mr. Bernanke started the quantitative easing, the announcement was in December 2008 during the crisis.
And they asked me how long will that last that this quantitative easing? I said, "Once you start it, it's very difficult to stop it. It's practically impossible. You can stop it, but then you have a severe recession. And this is exactly what has happened. Each time the money supply grows in the US slows down.
And by the way, I need to mention according to Bloomberg, the financial conditions are at present the easiest since 1997. Never been that easy to borrow money and so forth. So, we have plenty of liquidity. But, if you if you cut it down, you have a recession. And in a democracy, uh governments don't get elected who cause recessions.
I mean, Trump, he knows very well. He must keep the stock market up until after the November elections. The midterm elections. And he has to show that the economy is okay. He can lie, but the lies can only go this far. I mean, one thing that he cannot lie about, they can manipulate a little bit, but not 100%, is the long bond, long-term interest rates.
Uh the long bond has been the weak. In my opinion, that has an impact on the housing market because mortgage rates are approaching 7%. I tell you, if mortgage rates go over 7%, it will have a a psychological impact. And the housing purchases are at a historic low. Why we have a booming economy and people don't buy homes?
They can't afford them. It's an affordability issue, you understand? The Fed has maneuvered in cell itself with the with the ultimate wisdom into a position where they increase the cost of living so much that ordinary people have an affordability issue. They can't afford to buy things. They would like to buy things, but they can't afford.
And the rich people can buy things, but they don't need them. They have already everything. The economy is now in a very uh sort of distorted diverging paths where the middle and lower classes of society, they are going downhill. And we can measure this as the wages as a percent of the economy. They are the lowest level ever.
And the corporate profits at the highest level ever. So, we have a bifurcated economy with some the 0.1% the Bill Gates and the Jeff Bezos of this world and Elon our friend Elon, they are benefiting. And ordinary people, they are in good English, screwed. And the government is not helping. They are supporting these conditions.
The only way to turn around permanently is to get rid of state interventions. That is the issue. Once you get rid of state interventions, especially by people who are clueless. You understand? If you go to hospital and you get operated on whatever, it is a there is a difference between a doctor who has some knowledge and some practice in operating on you and someone who just comes from the outside and is clueless about medicine and anything else but playing golf.
And I'm telling you that the worst for an economy, for a society, is to have clueless people run a country. And this is happening now across the board in Western democracies. Why this is the case is not entirely clear to me. But I suppose that wealthy people, they like idiots in government so they can bribe them and they can manipulate them.
I suppose. The massive four-decade credit bubble engineered by continuous fiat printing and post-pandemic stimulus is inevitably moving toward a complete unraveling. Quantitative easing policies have trapped central banks in a vicious cycle. Maintaining excessive liquidity fuels devastating cost of living increases, while withdrawing monetary support will instantly trigger a brutal inescapable recession.
Rising long-term interest rates will deliver a severe psychological shock to the real estate sector as mortgage rates push past the 7% threshold, driving housing transaction volumes to historic lows due to absolute unaffordability. This ongoing financial distortion has produced a deeply bifurcated economy, forcing working-class wages down to record low shares of output while corporate profits and ultra-wealthy elites capture unprecedented windfalls.
Because Western democratic institutions have devolved into incompetence and regulatory capture, state interventions will continually exacerbate systemic decay rather than stabilize underlying economic vulnerabilitie.
