the market will require the liquidation of Mal investment and excessive debt North stream pipeline Russia or America who blew it up the U.S no one man could be as evil as the Democrats say is it over or is this just beginning it's not over it is a long way to go Dr Ron Paul you're a doctor OB what is a woman well he was my representative for economic policy and I could fully trust him that he would say the right things he was right in line with no libertarian he knows what the free Mark is all about we're in a 120 countries with special forces and and we've been involved in 120 coups I have a strong position on bitcoin and crypto is Tesla and Elon Musk going to save us I think that's the biggest con ever electric vehicles have the honor of uh being in Dr Ron Paul's office and in the presence of Dr Ron Paul I am so excited to have a conversation with you especially since you mentioned that Peter Schiff was your economic advisor back in your 2008 campaign we were just at his home talking about gold and Austrian economics I cannot wait to talk to you about this tell me about your relationship with Peter Schiff I kid him I was keeping him straight rather than the other way around no we've been good friends we've known each other for a long time and I I knew his father and that was a sad story and we visited on that subject for a long time but no I've done them for a long time but he he would he was my representative for economic policy and I could fully trust him that he would say the right things he was right in line with the libertarian he he knows what the free Mark is all about and he sort of pro so money are we in a free market today no we're not even close a market always exists but that as a country or as a government as the rules go in the monetary system we're far from it but the free market always exists you know somewhere because there's uh most people think it's the black market but they have all kinds of names for it but there's always a sorting out of events no matter how many rules and regulations are people do uh you know get around the regulated market for survival and the worst the economy the bigger the uh the the bigger the uh the black market is or the quiet Market the dark Market because that's where the pricing is if I can I would tell you one little story when I was in in the military I was a flight surgeon and we did flights around the world and one time we land and this is in the early 60s a year a few years ago and we were in in Pakistan pashawa and we uh we drove up to uh Africa that was next to Afghanistan and the power Pilots went in and out of there all the time but I was the MD with them and he said we're going to take you up to the kyber pass everybody's heard of the kyber pass so it was a neat a neat trip because they showed these bear and Stony mountains all over there in Afghanistan and Pakistan and they said Dr po do you know what's up there nothing and they said it's filled with tribes of people thousands of people live up there and they've never been conquered and these were the Afghans so that was something that sort of got my attention and then when we got to the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan they said oh well we're going to go shopping I said shopping you know it's six it would have been about 64.
and it was still a pretty hot cold war going on so they they took me into a cave and the cave was this Market we were talking about the black market but it was it was the the Soviet system the Communists and the Americans there doing the real trading figuring what prices were all by it was like this back and forth and I got the thing and it was big it was like a department store and there were some some things that the Americans wanted and some things they wanted but but it went on very peaceful and but it was in the cave pretty deep in a mountain and I thought just at this very time they're up there fighting and killing each other sure you know and here everyone is peacefully interacting yeah that was sorting out you know the problems the other good example of how the market works is uh you know you know having a unit of account you have to know what the dog what is the dollar the founders knew that they defined it as a weight of silver and thus of gold and people worked operated with that and then we gave then we got the fed and it was destined to not have a definition and by well the final link to a definition for gold in the dollar was in 1971.
when Brenton Woods broke down there is no link with whatsoever but the market during that period of time was always sorting it out but you know they they rigidly illegally uh not economically you know said the world will accept our dollars at 35.00 pounds until they printed too many dollars yeah and then there was a run on the dollar we had a little bit of inflation in the 70s oh yeah that's what the 70s were all about and that uh but I always said uh you know they they had they were sort of rigging it which I still think they're involved in a bit of that for the gold price I said or Nixon in terms of rigging or both well in 1971 Nixon just unilaterally oh they all work together there's a there's a oh one in the same there's a deep State that's um pretty high up there in control and monetary policy but the thing of it is the investors I I was just getting involved in the in the 60s and people were buying gold uh it was illegal to own gold from 1933 on up until 1975 71 when Brenton Woods broke down it was illegal for me to go and get gold coins but it was breaking down because the market was demanding the investors and people who knew something he wanted to hang on to Gold because they knew it wasn't 35 dollars an hour right and when it broke loose when Brown was ended I mean it it uh it skyrocketed of course it had to adjust but it went from 35 up to over 800 wow and uh then it had to do this again but that's but the market the market was still overwhelmed all that rigging of the governments pretending that the dollar would be uh at the same value forever even though there was no value to it so I see the power the markets subtly quietly will always give us the right information can Bitcoin help us with this price Discovery it doesn't help me so I don't know about you and your viewers but I have a strong position on on on bitcoin and crypto as a Libertarian it should be allowed it should be legal and uh peop I had a bill in the Congress to repeal all legal tenderness laws so that you didn't you could pay in something other than depreciating Federal Reserve notes and uh and yet that argument is still going on when you look at the SEC and other things uh I I just I don't understand computers and all this as well and I was never never really up up and think it was this is going to save us from us everything but I I really want to I want it legal and uh I I've gone to a lot of the cryptocurrency uh meetings okay and uh but I don't talk about I I don't get involved in the investment part of it because it's uh I can't understand the whole thing but I would uh I would go but the people who like crypto like it because I like gold it's just this philosophic debate which one is best and what's going to happen but the big unknown on that is the government right see at the beginning I said I warn I said you watch out the government isn't no matter they didn't pass my bill and they're they governments throughout all the history have to have Monopoly control of the money and uh until it breaks down and uh that's uh that's that's what happened that uh the the the government eventually they're they're going to be involved the IRS and the whole works so I'm a cynic when it comes to that so I want real privacy see that's interesting because uh the chairperson of the SEC Gary Gensler was just on CNBC yesterday talking about their lawsuit against binance and coinbase and the arguments started with disclosure and Regulation and Licensing and that but a few times in the interview I almost feel like he slipped up and he said well you know why do we even need a digital currency we have the dollar you can exchange the dollar digitally at your bank and it almost seemed like he was starting to get a little philosophical anti-crypto because it threatened the dollar is it possible the SEC is trying to destroy crypto to preserve the dollar I believe they'll be because that will you're subscribing for that I think you know right now they're talking about uh you know an international digital currency globalism and the globalists are alive and well and our side which argues for individual liberty and and uh the marketplace making these decisions uh I mean we saw what a disaster was when medicine was turned over uh to the government under covid and what they did what they did to us there so I know and I think this contest is big but I think it's been big for four or five thousand years that is the contest of Good and Evil and and uh they're always challenging it but I also recognize and worked on the assumption that we were fortunate and have been fortunate to live in a country that at least had respect for the Constitution which is dwindling for a long time John Locke and uh influence uh Jefferson that was good stuff but you know lately it's not doing so well but uh you know I I still think that uh there's a a significant number of people who if they were given the right information I still think people will prefer Liberty over slavery but they have to have the information and right now uh the uh the people who wanted to work for globalism you know their tool was uh you know taking um taking the educational system that progressives for 120 years took over the education system and all this junk that's coming on now this bizarre crazy stuff I mean it isn't just falling out of the sky it fell a lot of people who believe this I mean even the principle the reference to sort of like the politics getting into education with children oh yeah yeah and that's been going on now and it's it's still getting worse at the same time when I try to do on my program program is point out all the mess we have and then also say well could be a positive sign because you know look at what they just did today they just sometime right now they're promoting the idea the government should have a camera in everybody's house and I said Daniel McAdams that's on my program uh we work together when something terrible comes up uh instead of saying oh horrible I said ah we just woke up ten thousand more people because they you know just sitting at the lockdown people the parents the parents decided maybe their kids were valuable and they shouldn't take it for granted and there's been resistance to it but uh the back and forth is going to continue because the the authoritarians the cultural marxists they will not give up easily and it's big time and uh I do believe in a deep state that has a lot of control a lot of people talk about Soros but I think there are a lot of sorosis out there and uh and they they get involved in places that are very very important but some of the things going on though people I talk to say why everything is crazy how could this happen why do they do this and I spend a lot of time trying to explain that to myself and others well I ran for governor in California and uh hey I came in second of recall candidates so I wanted to change a lot of what you're talking about here which specifically one of the things I wanted to ask about and touch on is this cultural Marxism in the Deep state did the Deep State get to Tucker Carlson is that why he got fired oh no oh you mean did they punish him yeah I think it was probably more complex I think they hate his guts but uh because because the the Deep State and the opposition they're nihilists and uh they can't stand anybody that tells the truth so you know uh I I had I had an example during one of my campaigns I gave a speech and the student is at the campus they were very very excited about it and I talked about the Constitution when uh you know what do you do I said look to the Constitution you can find most of your answers and uh they said uh I you know so I promoted the Constitution although most of my talk was you know to wake up them up and I said well uh I said you've come to me and you're complimenting me but you know the the next candidate got up and he more or less said the same thing you know that we should look at Constitution I said why are you talking to him and he says we didn't believe him oh wow no trust trust is a big factor and uh even if you say some of the things clumsily that but people can sense and I think that's what's going on right now I think Tucker was one that they say he's not making this stuff and look at what do you have 17 million people watching people are dying for this kind of stuff oh they they don't want uh the the candidate representative to say everything you can't say everything everybody's going to agree with because we don't all agree with them but they do want they do want an honest answer they want you to do your best to tell the truth and if you have a little bit of knowledge and the the thing that I've emphasized the free markets and personal Liberty and I really believe in it well you would mentioned John Locke a little bit ago and John Locke was of course all about limited government the Treatise of government limitations does it feel like government is becoming more and more unlimited these days oh yes certain branches of it I I think that's what's happened there there isn't how about the just a good example would be the justice department the monetary system you know it's all done in secrecy I had an audit years and years I went to Congress first in 76 and I shortly thereafter had a bill you know to audit the FED because it's done secretly and uh and they have so much power I don't I think all this talk on uh on budgets all fake because they can handle so much cash and you can inject or change interest rates or or trade you know Securities and all they can bail out Banks and governments it is huge and uh your I understand in the investment business boy you have to be pretty smart to figure all that stuff out I don't know that anybody can figure it all out there's so much it's crazy oh yeah but you were on the Banking Committee when you worked in the house what do you think about this banking crisis is it over or is this just beginning no it's it's not over it's it has a long way to go because uh people will say you know they'll agree with me basically and they say well what can we do don't uh don't we have to get more people like you in the Congress and get more and change to Congress and vote this down I said there was a time you could but you can't do that anymore it's not going to be you can't get enough people they're not going to listen the corrections are too painful it's not going to happen even though we have in our history an example of that of course in our first history of it was the Continental dollar because we had a new country and we got rid of the Continental dollar and we defined the dollar in terms of gold and silver well that was early history but then after during the Civil War in 1961 we went off the gold standard and we had greenbacks back then so that went until after the war was over there was a lot of debt and they were still using and the economy wasn't doing well 1975 Congress passed a bill called the restoration act restoration restoration accent we're going back to the gold standards there's a mess out there and we've abused it and we want to redeem it in Gold again and and it was an over transition was three year period and they withdrew greenbacks spending was not out of control and and by the time they did it in 1970-78 uh 1878 the uh it was a non-event but they can't do that now because nobody would believe them I mean if they came to us now and said uh okay uh we're gonna Pat the Congress you know just had a budget thing there and they put in here in two years from now we were going to have a gold standard and we were going to balance our budget and we weren't going to have any Foreign Wars and we were going to rain in the the uh so the welfare system nobody would believe it I mean nobody believes the government now which is probably one of the healthiest things we have going for us because too many people cannot give up the um the trust and the confidence in having the government take care of them uh so that's not going to happen even though I believe that the strength of the Liberty Movement and sound money is very very strong and we're having a tremendous amount of influence uh going on and even though covet was a horror a lot of Americans woke up and the people decided maybe parents should have responsibility for their children that's a big deal otherwise they were lackadaisical and they they send them off to a government school that's one of the reasons that I have a homeschooling program so I I I think homeschooling if they get if they get rid of homeschooling and private schooling uh my my optimism is going to fade I'd still be optimistic that ideas have consequences uh but uh it was it's uh it's something that people I I do believe that people will respond I work a lot on trying to keep our country out of stupid Wars and and uh you know I said how did these wars get started and uh then I mock the people who do I said oh I know how they get started you get a bunch of kids uh 18 to 25 together and they call up somebody over are in Ukraine or Russia or China and they get a group together and you put the teenagers together and you know what it's just so boring let's have a war why don't we start a war I mean that's not the way it does the kids are the last ones when they have a brain that's that's the last thing they need or what but is it more like maybe Lindsey Graham that kind of style or what do you know yeah he seems very excited about sending that money to Ukraine what's your take on that I think it's this craziest thing I ever heard I I think that uh the first thing is is I was very much involved in the anti-war movement uh in the first part of this Century under George Bush and my simple answer was and is the founders thought about this and they have a simple rule you can't go to war without the Congress declaring war and I brought this up I was on a foreign policy committee uh when they were getting ready to expand and go into Iraq and uh and I knew everybody was going to vote for it so I introduced my amendment I said uh this amendment is to declare war against Iraq of course that's what I didn't want I said I want this and I'm going to have you vote on it uh but I'm not I'm not going to vote for it and uh and and the chairman of the committee he had hit time he put me down and said the doctor oh we know you're an abstract from our constitution but we don't follow that part of the Constitution anymore you don't have to declare war so if you can do it with money and you do it with uh if you do it with the monetary system or war or even any any monetary transfer where is it where did this idea come from that if if I have a need a financial no matter what the reason and you're my next door neighbor and you're doing quite well I don't have nobody in this country hardly says well just go take it he has more than you do you're not allowed to do that but guess what we do we go to our Congressman I and they say you go in that house you take it through taxation and then you give it to me and uh then there their conscience is a little cleaner that way well I didn't Rob him but it is uh bastiat in the law you know was very clear uh that uh that is plunder and uh when if you do it as when the government does it they're plundering and stealing and it you a Libertarian generally sees things in moral town because you know this idea of killing and robbing and lying I look back at that and it's very very old it's been around for as long as we've ever written anything of trying to establish it in the early years some of some of the laws written back uh in 5 000 years ago made more sense and that we have now because we we we're we don't follow hardly anything anymore you know justice department boy I I that that's stressful what's happening now do you think that the cynicism that you mentioned which you suggested was healthy do you think that potentially makes it actually harder to pass bills like you also mentioned because we're creating maybe more divisiveness I don't even think they're on the level of thinking that anybody's serious I think we're so far removed from getting it done yeah okay there there was uh you know I was there a long time and uh I didn't play the game I didn't raise money for the party if he raises 10 million dollars you might become a chairman and that kind of stuff so so I didn't I didn't participate but I did get a chairmanship uh wait did you just suggest you get a position based on how much you fundraised for the party oh yeah you wouldn't become chairman of Banking Committee unless you capitulated and voted every one time by that what they tell you and who's they just the leadership yeah leadership and the leadership is funded by the people donating to that by the corporations if the money comes from the corporation legal companies how about how about what's your industrial complex I mean there is there's trillions of dollars we have a we spend more on our military than the next 10 countries are put together yet they're terrorizing our people right now uh it's atrocious what's going on about people can't wait to have this war with China and it makes no sense at all so uh I I think it's tragic but uh now now we I I sort of worked with a coalition uh in the 70s or at the beginning of the century under Bush with Progressive Democrats because I got along with them they so a lot of them progressives you know recognize what civil liberties were all about and they were anti-war they had an anti-war reputation after Vietnam and so I worked with them Dennis casinci she was one of my closest allies and he was a progressive Democrat and uh we things we disagreed on we didn't bother with but dealing with civil liberties and War those are two big issues but we had a coalition there but that Coalition essentially disappeared now we have uh have some of the Democrats have become Hawks yeah it's flipped I was just going to ask you what why is it flipped why is it that let's continue to send hundreds of billions of dollars to to Ukraine I have no idea exactly why other than the fact that money talks and maybe that's how they think they get ahead getting have a getting power and uh getting ahead politically it's real important to a lot of people and and they'll do that but they'll rationalize it and think oh no this is different China is different but there was a there's votes going on this past week where there there were some different coalitions coming up and people who you thought would have been peace more peace oriented you know uh was was they were voting with some of the worst Hawks we have in the on the Republican side wow so I mean is this just a proxy war again of the United States versus Russia in Ukraine or or what is this how do you look at Ukraine and how does this end ah this war ends badly it's it's uh it's it's I unfortunately I have to as I did against the all the wars in the Middle East uh you know uh uh I uh I took a position and but and especially Republican primary voters are they're they're really Hawks now it's um they're they're not going to change and and start uh uh looking and declaring war again they assured me and I think the first month I was there it's 1976 and they assured me I was on a radio program and they assured me that they will never declare war again they're just going to go to war when they feel like and then that chairman of the committee put me down that would have been about 1970 uh two I guess no oh 2000 that would have been 2002 before we were going into uh uh Iraq and uh no they they don't do it there's no rule of law and the only rule of law uh is the morality of the individuals this is why Adams and most of the founders said you know you have a republic it's limited government it emphasizes Liberty sound money but uh it it won't last if the people don't maintain our moral standards and uh I'm I'm convinced of that because that has to come first where it has to replace it but uh and I think it's uh it's the seductiveness of of uh transferring wealth people don't see it as plunder they're just it's only fairness this is fair because everything is equity you know we have to have equity and eliminating any incentive system and which is the opposite to do those things that they're talking about now has to be authoritarian and and threats by the by the government you know uh this is uh this is that we're facing a crisis there but it'll end well you know I remember uh of course World War II and and I remember how how that ended but we declared the war just think of what what was done in World War II it was less than three years that we took Japan and Germany and we had been attacked and it wasn't lasting forever you know and now you know we we went to into uh uh Afghanistan 20 years 20 years in Iraq the other day Daniel and I were talking I said I said you know we haven't talked much about Iraq we sort of thought it was pretty peaceful and didn't hear a word and here the announcement was we were we were getting ready to start a new base in Iraq next to the one that we've had all along guess what right in the oil patch and look where why do we have a I don't know how what percentage it is we probably have 20 25 of Syria even though peace is sort of breaking out in some of the area but uh guess what our our troops are in the oil patch I mean I when I first heard the term I thought oh you're a bunch of a liberal lefties uh because uh I was a little bit more sympathetic to sanity but the the far left Progressive uh you say you know when these wars were broken high and they say it's all about oil oil that's what it comes it's a big deal if you want to be able to make a quick few hundred bucks by just referring a link to somebody else well the sponsor for biggest con ever electric vehicles no well no I think the technology is fantastic but there's no economic argument for it I don't believe and uh because it uh I mean it's still electricity and I saw a report this week and it was talking about how many places you can refuel how many cars there were how many refueling states that are it's just not there I talked to somebody not too long ago he may over the years he's always made trips from Dallas to Houston and he knew how long it took let's say three and a half hours drive down get to Dallas to Houston but then he got an electric card and it was his first trip he said well I better be careful he checked a place where he could get refueled and he took off and the refueling stations were very very inefficient and uh he's and it took him five hours so so he but even if you straighten that out uh Dollar Wise from people that I respect I didn't do the calculation that you still have to have the electricity we still get it from Cola and and we probably should be getting it from nuclear because that is that's a that is a safe fuel I have uh this my district was nearby here and there we have a nuclear power plant and uh we worked with them getting a permission to get um get an add to it and have another one but it was in the middle of one of these International crises over a nuclear I don't know whether it was one in Pennsylvania or whatnot so so or maybe it was Chernobyl but anyway the pr was wrong at that time and it never got it never got built but countries like Germany and and States like California are trying to get rid of their nuclear it's crazy you know if you had nuclear you might be able to afford uh electricity coming from from that but 2 uh but but I don't think see I think it's a I think it's going to be more expensive and uh not uh any better for the account for the environment I think it might be worse uh California has also recently started talking about maybe reparations for black individuals up to a million dollars for lost wealth and productivity over time what what do you think about that because insane I mean it has no principle what do you do okay so okay well in a billion how much out of a person a million bucks a million bucks okay okay this is like a black couple in California that uh I don't know whether they have to be born here or anything just a descendant of slaves and it's a proposal it hasn't passed but it's yeah they're talking but it doesn't it doesn't make sense to me so they have to get the money from someplace and uh so they're gonna have to go and tax black rich people they'll have to pay taxes too and they've been thriving and and minorities have done quite well you know in this country because there's been more freedom but uh it just it does it doesn't make any sense to me to do that and I think it's uh it's immoral on what they're doing what they're doing is enslaving people it's it's sort of like uh the foolishness of the Student Loan program which they're trying into iron house but uh they're not they're not going to pay that you don't have to work you don't have to worry about a default you know a lot of people started worrying about the default I tell people why are you worried about a default it's not going to be any default it's ongoing it's every single day you go to the store they just give you back something that's worth less and that's that's a default you've lost the value purchasing power of your money and uh it's it's crazy but nobody said that in that whole debate that uh this default it's all and it goes up at last minute they've done it for years and now the big argument is did it do anything and the conservative leaning to Republicans right now said if we're not we're still fighting it but uh the fight's gonna not solve the problem should we have defaulted Donald Trump and DeSantis said we should have defaulted do you think that was just a police I just uh I just quit spending money and maybe uh just cut to spending but uh I I know they I wouldn't I'd uh I said the checks under the conditions we have and even transition on what I think uh the checks aren't going to quit coming to the Social Security I mean they're going to do that forever and ever until a whole thing comes down but my argument is if you do it it's going to come down it'd be a civil war if you just cut off all the transfer payments oh if you stop paying Social Security oh yeah it may be a civil war but uh if if uh but if you don't clean up our house uh there's going to be a civil strife and we already see that I I'm still you're from California yeah I am still just flabbergasted because I I wasn't a big traveler but when I was at a conference in San Francisco I remember one trip out there Milton Friedman had a townhouse and I thought it went up high I and I thought what a beautiful place and just walking around the traditions of San Francisco it's just fantastic I said but it just it must sadden people in California to see the street people there were two things well the uh the the sewers in the front in the streets the living on the streets one thing but but the other thing my wife is pretty much non-political she goes along with what I do but she's not political but you know the one thing that she's expressed more discussed with was uh places like California and many other places where teenagers gangs would March through a store and you weren't even allowed to touch them you know if we were a store owner uh you know in the old days and even in Texas now if it's your house you can defend yourself and you're shot yeah of course people people never touch our rural area because I know there's police there but there's see the policeman can't protect us that's a fallacy uh but uh but but that was really disheartening to her to see them breaking things now I'm breaking the wind and the next thing is I I don't know maybe they're just playing the same recording over and over again but it's so sickening to see them beating up a person to death on the street uh there's there's that's back to the moral issue of a society oh what's going on no it's it's terrible a lot a lot of problems there how do we start solving that do we start with ending the Fed well that would go along with anything that that is the symbol for quit printing money quit inflating quit running up debt see the the fed the Fed was uh even though I was interested in monetary policy I didn't quite realize how integrated that system is because ought to defend people are going to find out what they're doing when they find out how they're ripping us off you know with weaponry and uh how the Pharmaceuticals are ripping us off doing bad medicine uh that would be uh it would change all of society if you had sound money but um traditionally governments so often have done this you know they people want they still the people can be convinced that they can get something for free uh but I I still want to believe that uh people know what's right and that if they had the sense of being productive and producing something uh that uh the the the psychological and the physical and the economic benefits of something is tremendous but now things are going down people aren't getting richer you know people are getting poorer but they have to relate it to and I do concentrate on the uh on the Federal Reserve so indirectly the Federal Reserve is a big deal but you have to know where the integration is it deals with war it deals with welfare state it deals with honesty and integrity and all of these things so uh it's uh it's that dishonesty that leads to the chaos and but people say well you know Ron if you if you close the Federal Reserve down into check stop you know that is really going to be chaotic I said that's true that's why you should have a plan to gradually do it but what if you get what if you win what if we would go to Venezuela or Germany or in the 20s boy that's gonna that's not gonna be very friendly and you think we're on that path essentially because it will because I think the signs are on our streets already what about this argument that Innovation is so deflationary and that artificial intelligence perhaps will lead to so much deflation that all the money printing we're doing now in the debt today will look relatively small and will have relatively low inflation despite all the printing because we'll be able to continue to innovate so in other words just print away because that negative will offset the inflation we're creating what do you think about that well I think you have to think that through I don't buy into the Nirvana and it's all going to come and be easy but they they worried uh about that throughout the centuries you know what about these cars and the call you know you know our horses and they're always arguing and uh Automation in the uh in the industrial revolution it builds jobs and uh but but I uh I I think there's going to be a lot of learning in about our our official intelligence I'm afraid it's going to be very artificial oh yeah yeah you know I mean that that's inviting a cop-out if we put that little machine out there it's going to be smart enough to do it there it does not have a conscience it does not have a brain it's only a smart uh as the people who who operate it and uh that is that is not a solution it should be turned into something very positive you know I think I think the internet once again just like nuclear energy good and bad the internet look at what it did look at what social media has done to us I mean that undermined our liberties too and then uh we and these these uh inventions have to be permitted but one absolute rule I have if you want that to work you can't get one nickel from stealing it from your neighbor through the government's you know special interest because that misses out on the on the economics decision making the the most important thing on economics would be the interest rates the interest rates tell us what to do uh if you know if people are saving that's an indication and and this is very very helpful so we we did we got rid of the definition of uh of money and now we lost all the the most important information I might be exaggerating but that's what I believe I think the most important information in a free market is knowing what the interest rates are because you know whether you should save but they're just like did it did our interest rates go down below zero well in reality they did because of the inflation rate so they the uh so that says the gross Distortion and what has it done just I I look at it now I look at the male investment in debt those are what that's what we have to deal with uh and and but I'm convinced the market is powerful the part of the market took a 35 ounce uh uh gold definition and overwhelmed the government's manipulating but uh no the market will uh require the liquidation of Mal investment and excessive debt and our country in other words is now at that level of excessive that so no matter what AI productivity artificial intelligence this or whatever a good doesn't make the wrong right in other words that's right and and that machine I think it's fascinating but but in a way we've had stuff similar there there's lots of things that happen that's been automated and uh and sometimes though maybe people would uh wake up and decide I'm sick and tired of talking to these machines you know yeah well one day so I mean I I hear you loud and clear on the attack distortions really of Taxation uh and and this excessive spending that we're doing could we rein this in by just saying something like hey sorry no more funding for Ukraine or or where would you cut from the budget I mean somebody's going to be unhappy now in economics you can't an interventionist and that's what people want it means that you pick and choose then it becomes a political issue yeah and then it destroys the the Society of freedom because uh majoritarianism will work so you get 10 special interest groups together to become 51 and they can cancel out the people who just want to be left alone and I I think that's where we are so you see there's I bet you if you listen to the TV and the regular television I bet they say democracy protect democracy hundreds of times every single day and Libertarians generally think that pure democracy is very very dangerous it's dictatorship of the majority rules exactly 100 you know 51 and they re they rule and the people who want to just be you know emphasize responsibility they get they become the victims because 51 percent can go after what they have right right and I think that's the benefit of sort of our Republic our system to some extent but it leads to a lot of gridlock which we see in Congress as well how was that while you were there and how has it changed because you were there at one point with your son yeah I was I was there for 23 years uh it's it's um it's I think it's different I think there's more anger more anger today yes and I and I think that's understandable because people are starting to recognize that uh this thing's coming to an end and I think it's somebody the whole system scurrying around to get into position to pick up the loot who's going to escape it and they're starting to realize that the very wealthy are doing a better job at that than the poor people in their statistics to show that uh you know the poor really probably getting poorer and there are more trillionaires than ever before and it has a lot to do with the monetary system and the influence they have in government you know so that's uh that's that's one of the big problems what do you think about I mean earlier you talked about sort of the secrecy of the justice department and problems at the justice department could you use what happened to Donald Trump as an example of that that oh yeah I think I I think even if you can separate ourselves from you know what is right and wrong strategically and politically I think uh the people who don't like Trump are making a big mistake for for themselves because uh because the people that like Trump see him uh flawed but he's straight talker yeah and that's what and that that's what they want they want to hear that so no one man could be as evil as as the Democrats say I mean like this week I heard two more cases filed against him I mean he was coming out of his ears and he still survives and if every time he they raise more money that's how disconnected is I think by just fine like impeaching the guy twice it makes no sense and they they think oh look what we did he's a bad guy everybody knows that but everybody's lost confidence in the people the police the people who are doing the impeaching right and now they've lost uh they've lost confidence in the Justice Department because um of the FBI have lost all credibility somebody dug up a speech a couple months ago when the FBI was sort of really big in the news and they got a speech and I think it might have been when I was running as a Libertarian and uh it was an interview like we're doing now two people gone they asked me about that I said well but the only thing I could think to do to solve the problem with the FBI that was in 88.
I says we need to get rid of it wow get rid of the FBI oh yeah would you still do that today oh more so than ever a lot of people are talking about what about like the CIA and some of these others get rid of every three-letter organization we've we're in 120 countries with special forces and and we've been involved in 120 coups where and they've been involved in the Kennedy assassination times two Martin Luther King's assassination uh and look for the authority in the Constitution they don't give you they matter of fact they were against a national police force that's what that is and uh no I I think but what amazed me is oh I didn't know I said that that for a while long but they were playing it backwards they're saying hey look he's did it back then but that was an instinct but they're all supposed to be there to protect us isn't that what they do they protect their power yeah wow but they they don't they don't protect us so Trump or DeSantis pardon me Trump or DeSantis yeah yes who would you pick I wouldn't uh I'm not I'm not voting uh for either you're going for Peter Schiff yeah I I think I I I just think about him especially since I've been out of Congress for 12 years I've I I get less involved with uh you know the political stuff going on I want it to be philosophic wow you know when I had my Rob uh uh convention when we had the Republican intervention in Florida and that was in 2012 and we had I think somebody said you had as many people here as they had over to Republican convention we had a huge crowd and I talked for about an hour 15 minutes if some reporter came up to him and he said you talked for a hundred for an hour and a 15 minutes and you never mentioned your opponent or the Democratic opponent wow and I had no interest in that because I was interested in and and this is exactly what the people who came were interested in they they want to hear about you know sort of my brief explanation of why the Federal Reserve is a big deal and uh a lot of them are coming from different angles so sometimes it's just conspiracy but a conspiracy is a careless term because just planning uh I guess I'm a conspirator I'm conspiring all the time conspiring all the time to how do we how do we just get to the audit of the FED see I I think it'd be a good idea to audit the Pentagon you know we don't know how to depending on and and uh the uh you know we just sent a lot we've been sending a lot of money to uh Ukraine and my son happens to be a senator he he introduced legislation that uh said this have uh you know a supervisor to look at the fund so there's no money wasted we've already or they wouldn't even listen to us and you know to bring it up so uh give them the light of day no and then they and so uh he um uh he did he did that uh and then uh he uh he had when this thing hole broke where all the corruption care he says dad he says I think I'm going to reintroduce it maybe they'll pay more attention so is this I've heard you know maybe two or three times talk about going back to uh philosophy uh I'm a political science major and econ and accounting is sort of more minors but I remember from political science uh a lot of study on philosophy and one of the most core tenants was this willingness to discuss the root causes of of why things are the way they are is it possible though that social media today makes everyone much less patient to ever even have that discussion or to listen to a different idea because you could just scroll to somebody else who agrees with you I guess people do move quickly but I think there's a net benefit for the discussion that's pretty sloppy okay and uh I do my program every day the Ron Paul Liberty report and I do live stream I don't have a real big audience but significant every day you're and where are you airing that what's telling me it's on rumble on Rumble yeah okay Ron Paul Liberty report and that uh I could do that are you on the internet absolutely yeah I mean you couldn't do it without it I wouldn't be here without it so I think but there's a lot to worry about because uh we've been we've been canceled on some things uh and uh but I always try to work to try to look at uh the the whole thing about monitoring the internet uh has caused a dilemma for some Libertarians because uh we believe in the freedom of speech and if you're a private company uh why should we write any rules telling the you know the people who are uh broadcasting your program that they can or can't do something right and I basically believe that but I also believe that they should be totally separate from the government no benefits from the government and they get a lot of money from the government and just think of the combination of the uh the the FBI you know given information that's evil that's corporatism verging on uh you know uh uh you know fascism when they're doing this much so the Press is being used in an evil way but the technology is there and there's still some and I think people know the difference but uh you know if if you and I had a newspaper or you have a you have your organization mine I mean nobody for a minute would think I have my little Studio here I mean you everybody knows you can't walk in here and say well this is freedom of speech I'm going to give him a message today and everybody knows they can't go into a church and do that so I think what they lack is a full understanding determination that property is very important we understand that about our house we understand out of our churches and synagogues and they're not to be interfered with but when it comes to say commercial property we can tell you everything and anything you can do with it who you serve and what you're going to pay and what the wages are all this and I said it should be private property would solve a lot of problems that that we face you know because of too many government regulations so this is the suggestion that government really has its hand in too much media like we saw potentially with the Twitter files FBI involved in what people are saying on Twitter what do you think about this I mean is this I mean if that's happening at Twitter I just wonder what's happening elsewhere it must be pervasive no I think it was a little uh statement today in the news where uh a certain generation a younger generation a group I don't particularly I'm not particularly enthralled by putting every one of us in a different group you know so but the the this young age group was asking uh it was considered astounding because a third of these young people said we think it would be a good idea for the government to have a camera in everybody's house some of the most exciting things have been the people I met at college campuses you know the the best rally uh that I have ever had was the California in uh what's that famous School up in Berkeley Berkeley it was my best rally and but but I've had a huge crowd but it's a big school so I probably had just a small small percentage but I I was encouraged because you know I I gave my talkers like we're talking and I I think uh there was an opening for that I think I think uh and the more uh the longer it goes on the more I'm convinced people just want the truth and the truth might be that you can't say I know the truth and I'm the final answer but they wanted to know that you're sincere that you have some knowledge that you're trustworthy and uh that you'll you'll tell tell the truth when I first after Brenton Woods broke down in 1980 1971 um is when I was practicing medicine then but I wanted to talk about the monetary issue I thought it was a big deal so and I was very busy I was only Dr OB doctor here on in Brazoria County so I went to my wife and I said you know Carol I said I'm so frustrated I got to get something off my chest I'm going to run for Congress and tell them what they ought to do about the monetary policy and she said what what are you doing that for and I said well I just have to I just have to feel like I'm doing something and she said well they could be dangerous I said dangerous why would it be dangerous she says you'll you'll be elected but I assured her there is no way there was no way and most people that was knew what I was doing would have agreed there's no way well you were wrong but I think you got in but that's the whole thing I think there's a lot of people are thinking achieving and thinking and agreeing but it was sort of like when that broke out after the lockdowns when the parents got sick and tired of it you know they were already annoyed but because one person might stand up and apparent PTA meeting and and give them the word uh they all were supportive it you know they they people need a little boost a little push so what what should a younger person do today or or anybody who is maybe just getting started with their career or you know they right now they have to focus on building some wealth before they feel they have or are empowered to get into politics I don't know what what do you think what should people do what would you give as advice to folks because if everything does feel a little divisive right now so you mentioned economics as well as politics both yeah I I simplify it I say do whatever you want okay I like that because it's something I don't know when you started and all that but you you obviously wanted to do it and I did what I wanted to do because some of them want to and some of them did this some of them because of exposure when we went to medical school and then ran for our office and I said well okay if you want to but I I never advised people to run for office I I if they do but it to me it's important that it's not to join the gang if you just because it's worthless if you say yeah I have a strategy and uh I guess I have to raise some money first so I I never thought in those terms raise money and do this and but it was it was fun uh winning but I I really think it was different than a lot of people because I I think that they were for me they were voting for what I was saying gang you know of the the philosophy that they were endorsing what I was saying and that that's uh that that uh validating that we may feel good yeah absolutely 100 but now do you think it's gotten worse though as politics gotten more challenging than more recently to where it's even worse to run for office today than it used to be or has it always been a bad idea and you're well if you read what what the early Founders did they went through pretty rough and tumble campaigns so I I think it's always been that way but I think uh yeah you know and I tell people yeah you should worry it's bad I said but you know uh I I remember the tail end of the depression I remember World War II I remember Korea I remember Vietnam and uh The Ghost and all this stuff I said but uh uh we got over it you know and we survived and and it was terrible 20th century but I said you know in spite of how horrible the 20th century was I probably have greater concern today about the fundamentals the foundation of our society the respect for Law and Order and uh in the monetary system is is in much more deterioration than it has been uh you know you know over the years so I I think I think we live in very dangerous times and I think people are sensing that this is coming to an end and they can't they can't keep they know that they can't keep printing money even the bankers even those the people of the Federal Reserve they know they can't do it forever so they have to fool and the only thing that the only tool they have uh is uh is they have to get sophisticated and lying and uh you know I like to use the quote uh that uh truth is treason in an Empire of Lies truth truth is uh so now well what about some of our truth tellers our whistleblowers they have to leave the country or they'll get crucified absolutely wow you say this is coming to an end that sounds like a bad Omen but you also suggested you were optimistic which is it yes no I think you have to know I think in a lot of times in medical terms if you have a patient that comes in and uh you find out they have uh cancer it's going to be bad you have to go through chemo and surgery and it's going to be risky but that's what you have to do you have to get through it if you have to do sometimes if the patient had been worrying about it thinking about it and maybe they did have it they get so depressed and Torn to Pieces but if you give them an answer and say this is what you have this is it and this is a plan and there's you know good chance you can survive it something like that if they have to if they understand the truth and the difficulty and give them hope uh then it's not so bad and so I think I think that's important don't lose hope don't lose Faith yeah well like you said we were able to make it through the 20th century yeah but we're still early in the 21st well you know one of the big debates today is something very important that I want your opinion on and uh Dr Ron Paul you're a doctor OB what is a woman well if I I probably would flunk you know of a medical school I I probably would be uh wanting definitions that would be more scientific than what's going on today that's that's all complete nonsense and uh it's just not that people can't do what they want but they don't have the right to push their views on others or interrupt schools and do all these things I think it's immoral uh illegal and not justified for somebody who's biologically male to take away from women the right to do their Sports and people are waking up on a logic tells you yeah that's crazy just think about if a man uh you know was a little boost and he gets a hormone shot to build up his muscles a little bit he gets kicked out forever it's the greatest crime in the world and here they're taking people and changing their gender and filling them up with drugs and everything and all of a sudden they're setting all the records and that's a that's a theft they're they're stealing the privilege that was earned by the people and earned by the people who wanted equality with women's sports they're ruining women's sports they can't they can't they can't I mean if people realize how I think people are starting to realize how detrimental it is how painful it is and uh and why that shouldn't be permissive permitted well said what about gender affirming care for children under 18.
to gender changes yeah well uh see I'd like to see it a little older but let's say 18 yeah all I know is if I had any influence I would try to explain to them what medicine is all about and I I don't but there may be some rare exceptions where you know the way the person physically was born that you wouldn't want a law that says no absolutely but uh I think I think there should be uh you can make the question easier because it's much worse than that they're they're now having the government give permission to kids barely teenagers don't tell the parents that's it so 18 is a tougher thing but you know 18 or before that that shouldn't be when I was left medical school they said look you always have to have parental permission of course so if you're in the room if you're an emergency room and a kid even if it's just a small cut or something because if you give them a little novocaine they might have a reaction and die so you you have to if the parents not there we had to call and verify that we got permission to treat the child uh but uh that's here's the justice department again now suggesting oh well 13 year old maybe doesn't have to tell a parent this is back to probably the basic morality of the nation so yes you said I would explain to them how medicine works in making the decision about whether to transition what do you mean well I think it's criminal what they're doing uh the uh the advertisements would explain a lot of this uh sir I heard this ad put on some place but it was recorded on the internet it was a woman who was The Advertiser the promoter trying to talk doctors into doing it and she was explaining why you know it's not difficult uh you know you just have to have a join our group and we'll talk to people and we'll set it up and you can make a lot of money and they said also that it lasts for a long time they have to keep coming back it isn't just one operation it's over then they have to get in medication so it's sort of like the pharmaceutical companies that uh they you know that they're they're criminals as well as what they have done you know uh teaching doctors to and badgering them into saying oh we don't believe in that natural immunity anymore that's crazy and this whole thing about surgical change and gender uh now you can start reading the stories and I think it uh it's not a very natural phenomenon uh although I'm still not against somebody well first there should be no national law but if the states did it in some type of a regulation uh but they have too much license now especially because they've taken advantage uh of of a young person who's not of age and uh and and doing that it's it's not showing up somebody in the emergency room without permission this is a big deal taking advantage of someone for life for profit yeah I have two final questions Biden what's going on what he he's having trouble riding a bike walking at the Air Force Academy is is is is he our president or somebody else running the government you see the prayer oh no he he isn't any more president than a lot of them you know they have and when you look at a some of his advisors and not go into details of their their beliefs that I disagree with there the advisors look human and they're not falling down and and they look more conventional that probably reassures some people but uh no I think he's I I I think he's old and has problems but uh I think the voters should make the decision you know that's uh there's there's been people that function pretty well so last question function I don't I I like to I don't like to go after people you know for for for health matters and uh whether it's uh whether it's Biden or even going after Trump and having having some type of a health explanation for it to let the people decide let the people decide put them out there and let them perform if they don't show up maybe that's a maybe that's something that's the thing you should talk about and walk up those stairs okay you know you know we shouldn't always measure things in terms of how many dollars you make uh you know I I I think human nature is stuff such that I'm asking all my kids and grandkids when I see them and I say well how'd you do I said what did you do productive today and the reason I ask that is productivity gives you a sense of satisfaction that money money might measure it I'll measure it but that uh it's it's not like did you make a buck today as you go okay I said what did you do productive and uh it's sometimes they will say well I mowed a lawn or something like that other times it'll be something else that's uh not related to money at all so I don't I I think to to uh it's a psychological local benefit and a payment because somebody said Ron you're in that Congress all that time you did get paid but uh would it have been as much as you would have made it if you were to remained a surgeon so focus on productivity and what makes you feel fulfilled yeah so that's the end that's what human that's what that's what uh living is all about uh having having preferences and values and some people give up a lot and lead a lot I know I know why not mises you know the name of this is Austrian maises uh essentially uh was the key person on Austrian economics and when he got married at a at an age maybe in his 40s or something like this and uh the story was that he went to his his wife to be and said would like to get married yeah he says but I gotta warn you he says you're I'm going to be talking a lot about money but you're not going to have a lot of it oh wow because he was just an author of an economist he was just in detail and he wrote uh wrote a book called Human Action it's just about this thick and uh so his values were but do you think but just think he could have made whether they say he could have made millions of dollars but but here but here uh nobody nobody cares how much money he had and yet we who know who mises is he's he's he's more recognizable now than he was 50 years ago yeah do you remember when the first time you heard of mises name oh when I was studying at UCLA economics although they like to teach Keynesian teach what they usually just stick to Kane's job yeah well at least they mentioned them oh it was definitely yeah absolutely yeah yeah no so that's uh but I think he's better known now so but but Freedom of Choice the one one if I get stumbling around on what do you do here and there I like to limit it to short sentences of short words and one word I like is volunteerism so if you and I are talking about something social economic or religious or anything else everything should be voluntary which means you have to agree and I have to agree in this contract and you both live up to the contract volunteerism solves a lot of problems just think if we use volunteerism in foreign policy we would not be in it we wouldn't have been in Korea we wouldn't have been in Vietnam we wouldn't have been in the Middle East we wouldn't have been in in Syria we wouldn't have been in Ukraine and we wouldn't be participating in bombing Moscow which we are already you know we you know the ukrainians have our money and our weapons so it's it's a pretty technical thing difference because the Russians know we're doing it and we know we're doing it but you know internationally speaking we have not declared war are we knocking on the door of nuclear war let's hope God I I don't I I I don't think so but uh just because they're out there and there's crazy people out there but uh so far sanity has prevailed I was still disgusted that we had to prove we could drop two of them yeah yeah no kidding final final thought North stream pipeline Russia or America uh the U.S oh we'll leave it at that all right we'll leave it at that then uh the CIA you're talking about the pipeline from Russia the northern Germany yep yeah like like the most recent bombing up up the damn the damn and they say well Russia the Russian blew up their oil line a gas line and now they just blew up their their uh their Waterworks that was cooling their nuclear power plant territory they control but then then you have the unfree media out there saying oh must have been Russia pretty bad how can people follow you the best thing is to join us every morning uh Central Time at 11 A.M on Ron Paul Liberty report on Rumble Ron it's been a pleasure go ahead nice to be with you
