Welcome back. I wanted to cover super investor Michael Bur. He's known for his short position on the subprime mortgage market back in 2008. And it was a brilliant move that took a lot of guts and he was uh made famous because of that event. So famous they made a movie, a pretty good one. I really like the movie.
I bet you've seen it. Well, Michael Bur continues to invest and I wanted to go over his investments, his portfolio, the changes he's made. He reported his 13F report to the SEC and I could see which stocks he bought. He made some pretty big moves in 2025. He had a very good first quarter. Then he sold everything but Estee Lauder.
Then he's bought a number of positions. So, I wanted to go over that. One thing I've covered uh Michael Bur on this channel for I'm going to call it a year, but before that I definitely followed Michael Bur and I would say that in 2024 especially in part of 2023, Michael Bur was calling for kind of like the market was going to sell off.
I think he kind of missed a pretty good run on stocks. You know, uh these investors are not perfect. They have years when they miss, years when they're, you know, they look like geniuses. Though I do, I do remember him, you know, calling out for a selloff. This year, he's doing he's doing good. He's beating the S&P.
And I'll stack rank him against other investors that are out there to see where he lands on the pecking order of which super investors doing the best and which one's doing the worst. So, let's take a look at Michael Bur's portfolio. So at the beginning of the third quarter, Michael Bur reported that he bought some new positions in Lululemon, Brocker, Regeneron, Marcalo Libé, and United Healthcare.
So the one I'm going to start with is at the bottom, United Healthcare. I think uh a number of super investors have looked at United Healthcare and see a great opportunity because the stock's so sold off. It's a really good business. So along with M uh Warren Buffett uh and others 19 total super investors are in United Healthcare.
Michael Bur is a new investor into this stock. Another stock he bought is Mercado Libre which is an e-commerce company down in Latin America. I also own Mercado Libé and it looks like a very promising e-commerce company that's really focused on Latin America. Interesting to see that he did buy into that stock.
And next stock he bought into Regeneron, which is a pharma company. I've looked at Regeneron and it's it's not a stock for me. I don't think they do as well as other healthc care stocks that I've seen. Their margins are not as good. Their free cash flow production is not very good. So, I'm I've never been a Regeneron investor.
Brecker I'm not very familiar with. and and then Lululemon. He bought into Lululemon. Um, and this stock has been beaten down. You know, it is an apparel company, premium apparel, and he decided to buy into them. He kept his Esteee Lauder shares. He owns about 150,000 shares. Total investment in Estee Lauder is $12 million.
the investments he's made in other companies. Lululemon almost 12 million, Brooker 10 million, Regeneron almost 8 million, Li almost 8 million, and about $6 million in United Healthcare. What's worked and what hasn't worked for his portfolio? Early in the year, he was just on a roll. He had a 38% gain on Estee Lauder.
Alibaba really did great. He owned Alibaba in the first quarter and then he sold it but he really got a great uh return from Alibaba 56%. And he was in China. He owned a number of Chinese stocks and a number of healthc care stocks. So he he likes healthcare. Now one thing that's interesting about this super investor is he's actually went to medical school.
So he really knows medicine and he knows investing. So he probably is a very good person to see when it's a good time to invest in healthcare. He was invested in Molina Healthcare, HCA Healthcare, Oscar Health. So he he was he was investing in healthcare quite well. So interesting. And one thing I would say about Oscar is shortly after he sold Oscar went on this really nice uh upward trend.
So he missed out on that on that upward trend. He uh on the the third quarter uh the quarter we're in now, it looks like Lululemon's not doing all that great. It's down 13%. Brooker is down 17%. Regeneron is up almost 10%. Malo Libra is down 9% and then United Healthcare is up.5 and that's compared to where he acquired the the stock.
So overall, his third quarter isn't looking all that great. Year-to date, his portfolio is up 16.59%. That's as accurate as I can get based on the information that's been reported. And the S&P is at 9.72. So, he is beating the S&P. Where does Michael Bur rank? Well, right now he's number six. He's uh beating the S&P.
The S&P is at 9.74% and Bur's portfolio is up at 16.59. The guys are investors ahead of Michael Bur. Chase Coleman's having a really good year. He's up 26.85. Ter's up 22%. Venol 21. Kathy Wood's up 18.45. Tom Lee is up 17.84. Looks really good. So, he's doing well. He's beating the S&P, but I think especially his performance in the third quarter is kind of holding him back.
We'll see if uh those stocks really start to rally. I think his investments in healthcare, if healthc care continues to rally the way it's been rallying, that's probably going to help him move up the ranks. The other thing about Michael Bur, he's easy to follow because he doesn't have a lot of positions.
He has just a few stocks that he owns at a time. He gets in and out of stocks, but he's not in a a long list of investments. The one who has a long list of investments and is really getting it done is Chase Coleman. He has a lot of stocks, like 50 stocks, and he has an eye for good stocks. He he really has picked some good ones.
So that is Michael Bur, a very famous investor who who deserves all the credit and he's a really interesting investor to follow and we'll see how he performs for the rest of this year and we'll see how he does in 2026. Six.
