01. on today's episode we are going to take a quick look at the overall semiconductor industries doing pretty strong we can see amd is up 3.5 for the day nvidia's up 1.7 and even intel is up 1.3 for the day as i am recording this episode for those not familiar my name is jose naharo i am pretty much a tech investor i have an educational background a master's in electrical engineering so i love enjoy i love researching the semiconductor industry right now amd and nvidia are my two biggest positions and they make up roughly 18 of my portfolio and on today's episode we're gonna take a quick look at some recent research on the overall graphics card department we're also going to take a quick look at some news affecting nvidia in forms of new acquisition and a recent acquisition that they had just made and we're also going to take a quick look at price targets for all these companies and i'm just going to and the subscribe button now let's get started so like we said i mean am all semi-conductors are doing pretty strong today it's been a pretty green day in forms of stock market i think my portfolio today hit an all-time highs which i'm super super excited i hope you guys as individual viewers are also doing well in the overall market right now best of luck i wish everybody's making money right now so today we are going to take a quick look at this research by jpr this is john petty research and they kind of talk about the gpu market so the gpu market some of the main players right now are nvidia and amd those are probably the two biggest players in form of discrete graphics cards but there's also integrated graphics cards and intel kind of plays that game so let's take a quick look right now if we take a quick look at the overall pc gpu vendor market share this is both integrated and discrete this cree is pretty much when you buy that individual graphics card those are what amd and video sell integrated is sometimes inside a cpu and we know who creates cpus intels and amd you have some form of integrated graphics processor as well uh so that's why this kind of chart is gonna is gonna be a little bit different but amd's overall market share from last quarter decreased about point two percent intel's market share increased about point one percent and nvidia's market share increased by point zero six percent as indicated in the following chart so jpr kind of created this chart for us and we can see quarter two of 2021 the biggest player in the overall gpu vendor market is intel the main reason for that we're going to take a quick look at discrete in a bit but the main reason for that is because that integrated graphics that comes in the cpu so we can see i mean intel has been kind of really collecting um collecting a nice amount of market share year over year and even quarter over quarter which is impressive uh so for me in the gpu market i could really care less about integrated gpus i'm pretty much more into the discrete gpus and that's we're gonna see in a bit so here we can take a look at the total desktop and notebook market share for discrete graphics cards so these are the individuals cards that you buy and these are the main components right and we can see amg and nvidia are the two players here but intel is coming out with their own discrete graphics card in the future this is going to be intel alchemist gaming gpu and the release date is expected to be quarter one of 2022 so what's that about six months from now six to eight months from now uh so that's something interesting i would definitely want to see how intel will be able to market their graphics card what kind of performance performance target is expected to be nvidia's geforce rtx 3070 let me just say if you're not familiar with the line the rtx 3070 is a very impressive card so if they are able to kind of get that performance target around there it wouldn't be a bad car depending on everything else uh so this is in the intel and they are going to be coming out with their own discrete graphics card so next year um this this might be a little bit different and i'm really really excited to see that but we can see nvidia right now has about 83 of the discrete graphics card uh market share and desktop and notebook 83 that is pretty darn impressive uh and that's up quarter over quarter and that's up year over year we can see amd is actually at 17 percent and that's down quarter over quarter and it's actually down year over year and it doesn't necessarily mean both obviously i think it's bullish for nvidia it's not necessarily a true bearish case for amt i mean we don't know how the overall semiconductor industry with the overall shortage that's happening how has that affected these the company's ability to kind of prove to kind of provide to their customers this discreet card nvidia is a big player so maybe they have a little bit more pull in that kind of in the supplier chain compared to amd since they have a smaller pool and some in in my opinion so that could be a reason uh and we are seeing that the semiconductor shortage is gonna continue and video talked about it in their most recent earnings i mentioned it in the most recent earnings video and that's something to definitely keep an eye out uh unfortunately they did mention that the upcoming inventory build out for the holiday season that usually takes place in the third quarter will be constrained until supply chain catches up with demand and this is something we saw in nvidia's earnings report that they don't believe their gaming department will grow so much quarter over quarter because of supply constraints uh and this report kind of mentions the same thing so overall i mean still bullish uh it's great to be the leader in this market right if nvidia is the market share leader then people who either design some form of 3d modeling compu software any type of software maybe for gaming software usually they're gonna start with optimizing it for the graphics card that has the highest uh the highest kind of market share so if you have some form of education some form of software some form of modeling some form of gaming animation kind of software you're going to be focusing on creating something for nvidia first because that's where the market share is at it's not that they're in they're kind of rooting for nvidia it's more like they're rooting whoever has the market share and whoever they can attract the most customers to so outside of that i also want to take a quick look at their arm deal so nvidia is a quad is expected to acquire arm this is a deal i've talked about numerous times in this in this channel and this one i don't believe will happen or the chances of it happening are very very low but today nvidia mentioned or reuters mentioned that nvidia is set to seek european union okay for the 54 billion dollar arm deal so our arm deal and sources say this right so right now um just to show off the overall the overall process nvidia is going to go to the european commission and be like hey we're going to purchase this acquisition we're going to purchase arm you have to determine if you're going to give us the okay or not so it's going to keep kick off a 25 day of preliminary review after that 25 day of preliminary review the ueu is going to be hey we need to probably do a longer time frame full maybe a full a full investigation which is usually about 90 working days or we're giving you the okay right now more than likely i believe the 90 working day will happen just because we saw earlier last week i believe that the overall uk regulator said that they needed to do the full investigation so if uk regulators are doing it i wouldn't i wouldn't put it past that the european commission is also going to do it uh but this is i mean i don't know if it's bullish or bearish case here it just shows that nvidia still believes they will get this art acquisition and they're still going with the process right uh so this is something interesting i want to see how it plays out i do believe this march 20 22nd deadline that they give is not gonna be met um and it's going to be pushed off a lot longer so something investors should kind of keep an eye out the second thing i want to talk about nvidia is another acquisition this is a very small company that they purchased so nvidia just purchased deep map this acquisition was kind of talked about i believe in june or july of 2021 but yesterday it was updated it was updated august 26 that nvidia has completed this acquisition so nvidia has acquired a company called deep deepmap which is a startup dedicating to build high definition maps for autonomous vehicles to navigate the world safely and the great thing about this is deepmap is expected to extend nvidia's mapping products help help them scale world worldwide map operations and expand their full self-driving expertise for those that don't know nvidia is in the two markets first they have nvidia drive which is this this is the their autonomous vehicle development platforms let's say you are an eevee autonomous vehicle company and you want to kind of get technology already made that helps you kind of develop that technology and develop the the service you are you're going to come to nvidia and you're going to you're going to ask for their nvidia drive so that's a great thing right it's kind of it it's an acquisition that makes sense it's probably a small acquisition because it there there really hasn't been much talks i don't think it's going to be one that really hurts the bank for nvidia another thing is nvidia has this nvidia drive simulation uh which is an end-to-end simulation platform to kind of help artificial intelligence and just kind of help the overall learning process for some of these autonomous autonomous vehicle companies so this acquisition makes perfect sense it's a small player but still something investors should keep an eye out and it just shows that hey nvidia still is becoming more than just a hardware company this is now becoming a software company so now i'm going to share my overall thoughts on stock prices like we saw amd is up 3.7 video's up one point seven percent intel's up one point two percent i do wanna say amd and nvidia even though these are my biggest positions i do believe there's a little risk in maybe the short term so in the short term i wouldn't say i'm more of a bear in the short term i believe the stock prices can give us better buying opportunities in the long term i'm talking about three five years i believe these prices where it's at right now um are a lot cheaper than where these companies are gonna be in the future uh so amd and video right these not ones i would open up a full position at the moment but wouldn't mind getting skinned in the game if i didn't uh because these are companies that in the long term i believe can give us better returns
