Hello, this is Buja Oppa. I would like to start this video by expressing my gratitude for the membership sponsorship I received after such a long time. Thank you to Eun, Kenny, and Yeop for your membership support. Honestly, it is not easy to run a channel relying solely on view revenue, but when you make membership or Super Thanks sponsorships like this, it gives me tremendous strength in running the channel.
Today, I would like to talk about TQQQ. The hottest stocks these days are Nvidia and Tesla; their fortunes are quite diverging. Nvidia is doing so well that it is becoming a hot topic, while Tesla is doing so poorly that it is becoming a major issue. Also, there is SXL, the semiconductor stock with triple leverage that I like, the NASDAQ stock TQQQ, and the SNP 500, which can be considered the epitome of US stocks, and SPY, which estimates the SNP 500.
I have analyzed the performance of these five stocks over the past five years. Can you see the characteristics of the stocks? Even though they are 1x leverage, since Nvidia and Tesla are growth stocks, their volatility is truly tremendous. Now, regarding the common misconception that triple leverage like TQQ is dangerous because of its excessive volatility, or that interest rates are too high...
There is a lot of talk saying that it cannot trend upward in the long term and is not a stock to hold for a long time. However, if you compare Nvidia, which is at a 1x leverage, with Tesla, its volatility is actually very low. That is why, first of all, I am making this comparison video to break the prejudice that 3x leverage results in tremendous, unmanageable volatility.
Many people are fixated on 3x leverage, saying it is too dangerous and has too much volatility, but if you look at the essence, it is an index composed of 30 stocks. The underlying indices are the Philadelphia Semiconductor and the NASDAQ 100, respectively. The fundamental characteristic of an index is that it has low volatility, so it is a prejudice to think that it is too volatile and dangerous just because you estimate that very low volatility with 3x leverage.
In fact, individual stocks at a 1x leverage can actually have higher volatility and be riskier. Since TQQQ is based on the NASDAQ 100, both Nvidia and Tesla are included in it. Stocks like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta are also naturally all included. Consequently, when looking at 5-year returns, Nvidia and Tesla...
While TQ has generally shown high returns, looking at the recent sentiment, Nvidia has risen so much that it feels unsettling, and Tesla is plummeting so severely that it feels worrying. However, since TQ is an index composed of 100 stocks rather than just one, there is absolutely no reason to be swayed by specific issues.
For instance, just because Tesla is underperforming these days, would TQ investors stop investing? Of course not. After all, it is just one stock. To put it bluntly, even if Tesla were to fail, the impact on TQ would be minimal. After all, other stocks would fill the void left by Tesla. Still, isn't it true that TQ is risky?
Yes, that is correct. It is naturally risky due to the 3x leverage. But even so, would you be satisfied investing in a stock like SPY? Its 5-year return is 83%, volatility is almost non-existent, and the probability of it trending upward is nearly 999.9%. However, the returns are too disappointing to throw your entire fortune into a stock like SPY and expect to become rich.
It is a stock that cannot generate high returns in the short term because it holds a whopping 500 stocks and tracks them with a 1x leverage. So, the point is that we need to find a suitable compromise. Individual stocks can hit the jackpot if picked right, but honestly, they feel a bit unsettling because they have to react too sensitively to specific issues.
Stocks like SPY are incredibly stable and have a high probability of trending upward, but they are n't stocks that will make you rich quickly. In that case, a stock like TQQQ can be a very good alternative—it has a high probability of trending upward, is relatively volatile, but isn't as unsettling.
I find this very appealing, and I am currently investing in it. It definitely puts my mind at ease. TQQQ went public in 2010, so it has been about 14 years now. If you look at the logarithmic chart over those 14 years, anyone can see that it has trended upward. The direction itself has definitely been verified.
Of course, we can't definitively conclude that this stock is guaranteed to rise based solely on 14 years, but the underlying index is the NASDAQ 100. If the NASDAQ 100 doesn't trend upward, then what stock or index on earth is trending upward? The NASDAQ 100 is an index comprised of the world's top-tier companies.
If it does n't trend upward, then other It is difficult for individual stocks to trend upwards, isn't it? Those of you currently investing mainly in individual stocks are probably under a lot of stress. Regardless of which stocks you invest in, I believe stress is unavoidable because volatility has been extremely high recently.
That said, investing in indices feels too bland, and while I do think concentrating on very hot individual stocks is the right approach for getting rich quickly, the stress can be quite severe. Therefore, I don't think it's a bad idea to diversify to some extent into stocks like TQQQ, which offers decent returns and the potential for high profits through 3x leverage.
Going all-in can actually be a bit risky. I do not recommend going 100% in any stock. Especially for long-term investors like us, managing your mental state is extremely important. If the returns on your stocks are lower compared to other stocks, you are bound to feel disillusioned. First of all, it hurts your stomach.
So, to prevent that feeling of envy, it is better to invest evenly across various stocks. For example, if I am currently investing in both Nvidia and Tesla, and someone teases me about my Tesla returns being poor, like this... You can refute that, right? Hey, I'm investing in MBD. Just mind your own business.
I'm making good profits on my own, so the point is I can deliver a satisfying blow like this. And I don't feel bad about it myself, do I? Even though I'm flopping with Tesla, I hit the jackpot with Nvidia, so from my perspective, there's no reason to be annoyed. So, considering the characteristics of each stock, I recommend diversifying your investments across multiple stocks if possible. That's all for today's video. Thank you.
