01. I'm not sure that it will be used by the system by central bankers and by governments but it may be used by individuals. You understand? You and me, we have money. Maybe we have a tendency to speculate. Part of us is also to have money as a store of value that doesn't depreciate cons consistently. That's its purchasing power is uh maintained that if you have savings, you want to maintain the purchasing power of your savings.

02. Disregarding making money here and making money there. To maintain the purchasing power, individuals are gradually shifting funds from cash deals, say in American dollars, still 4% or so on 10 year bonds, they're shifting it into gold and silver and platinum. Amid persistently weak yields and inflation risks, individual investors are turning to gold and silver for wealth protection.

03. These assets are increasingly viewed as reliable shelters against currency devaluation and sovereign debt instability, making them a preferred alternative to cash or bonds. Considering the diminishing role of bonds as portfolio stabilizers, allocating a portion to precious metals is increasingly viewed as a prudent inflation hedge and diversification tool.

04. The speaker, Dr. Mark Faber, a Swiss investor, economist, and publisher of the gloom, boom, and doom report, argues that while central banks may not rely on gold, individuals are increasingly likely to do so as they seek ways to protect their savings from losing value. Gold has experienced a powerful comeback, rising by over 30% in 2025 to levels above $3,000 an ounce.

05. This is driven by fears of dollar weakness, escalating geopolitical tensions, and a lack of trust in traditional financial instruments. As a result, gold has regained its status as a global haven attractive to both institutional and individual investors. Mark warns that Washington's only realistic path to manage its massive debt is money printing since tax hikes and spending cuts are politically untenable.

06. This risks fueling inflation and weakening trust in monetary policy as the Fed may prioritize debt costs over price stability. With rising deficits and strained credibility, hedges such as gold, tangible assets, and inflation protected securities are becoming increasingly crucial for investors. 08. part of us is also to have money as a store of value that it doesn't depreciate cons consistently that's it its purchasing power is uh maintained that is say if you have savings you want to maintain the purchasing power of your savings is regarding making money here and making money there but to maintain the purchasing power individuals are gradually shifting funds from cash yield say in American dollar still 4% or so.

09. I think that platinum looks inexpensive relative to gold and silver because it hasn't moved much in the last few years and their times when platinum actually sells at the premium to gold. So today platinum is around $1,300 and gold is over $3,000. So I think platinum could could go up three times. Actually, if I were Putin, the South African government, I would the US government with its gigantic debt, they can do a few things.

10. In theory, they could increase taxes to pay say the interest on the debt. No politician would get elected if he went to the public and said, "Look, you all have to tighten your belts and I'm going to increase taxation." That is not going to fly. Trump has increased taxation. tariff is a tax on the consumer in America.

11. He's a great promoter. He tells the people, "Oh, we have to protect our interest in America, the economic interest. That's why we in living tariffs." You understand? He doesn't go to the public and says is attack. No, but it is attack. That is a possibility. The other possibility is to go to the people in America and say look, we have this state problem.

12. And we have to solve it. And we can solve it by cutting government expenditures. The problem is in a democracy, people like that the government spends money on subsidies. The corporate sector loves subsidies and government contracts. Then they will never oppose the government because they get money from the government.

13. and uh the cutting of social security and retirement benefits would be unacceptable in a democracy. I mean you think the veterans would take a 30% pay cut on the on their pension income. The third possibility and every government has done it throughout history, the recorded history of over 5,000 years and that is to print money.

14. The Romans did it, the Spanish did it, the British did it, and the Americans are going to do it. And especially Trump, he has no respect for people that lend him the money. The speaker, a longtime precious metals investor, stresses that central banks and governments cannot be trusted, so individuals must hold their gold.

15. He recalls that after peaking in 2011, gold fell to around $1,000 in 2015, but now trades above $3,000, showing how it protects wealth by offsetting the loss of money's purchasing power. Gold continues to outperform other assets in 2025, beating stocks and bonds with a year-to-ate gain of around 28%.

16. UBS has raised its gold price forecast to $3,600 by March 2026 with the potential to reach $3,700 by mid 2026. Central bank demand and ETF inflows are playing significant roles in this rally. Valuations in US markets are raising red flags. The pricetobook ratio of the S&P 500 has surpassed levels seen during the dotcom bubble according to Bank of America suggesting that prices may not be sustainable.

17. One of the primary causes of the global shift is this overvaluation as investors are increasingly allocating their funds to developed non- US stocks and emerging markets. With an 18% year-to-ate gain, the MSCI Emerging Markets Index has outperformed the SNP500 by more than double, making equities in Asia, India, and Latin America more appealing.

18. However, despite concerns about inflation, monetary policy weakness, and fiscal uncertainty, gold remains a solid investment option as investors become weary of gold and seek alternative precious metal exposure. Platinum is also gaining traction, having rallied by 44% so far. Let's recall the interview.

19. I'm a large holder of precious metals and I've been telling people for the last 40 years that they cannot trust central bankers and the government and so that they must have their own gold reserves. I still maintain this view, but I'd like to make an observation. If you look at the gold bull market of the last few years, uh we had a huge move into 201 I think it was L1 and after 2011 we went down to 2015.

20. In 2015, gold touched for the last time around $1,000 an ounce. Now we at 3,000 over. My view is that gold is reflecting the loss of purchasing power of money. Uh and if someone askked me well is it expensive or cheap? Well you know if I compare the cost of living in 1970 and today gold has been a very good protector of wells.

21. I mean it you know you own an ounce at $35 an ounce in 1970 and now it's worth over $3,000. So it's okay. And I would recommend every individual anywhere in the world to gradually every month a little bit accumulate gold with the intention to have approximately no between 20 and 40% of their money in gold.

22. I have around maybe 25%. I was just thinking today when I was taking a bus in the in the evening where I shouldn't put everything in gold and silver because because I really think the western governments will all print money and the purchasing power of money will go down. Now I admit that to own stocks, shares is a way to protect your wealths because the share market is a better protector of your purchasing power than the bond market and cash.

23. Cash and bonds would be the worst instruments. So you could actually own shares except if I look at the world I notice that US shares are expensive and that some emerging market Latin America say Brazil and the Colombians of course Asia, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Thailand are relatively cheap. Also European markets compared to the US are relatively low.

24. You and I, if we decided to put all our wealths in stocks, we would have to buy stocks that are reasonably priced and not buy like the NASDAQ. According to Dr. Mark Faber, people, not governments, should be in charge of protecting their wealth during times of high debt, tight finances, and dubious monetary policy.

25. Gold and silver are significant long-term hedges against inflation and currency devaluation as evidenced by the overvaluation of US markets, global capital flight, and the resurgence of precious metals as safe haven assets. A structural shift in the way investors safeguard their financial future is indicated by the recent spike in metal prices as well as the growing mistrust of bonds and cash.

26. Is gold approaching another high, or does its spike above $3,000 signal the start of a fresh multi-year bull cycle? Given the current state of uncertainty, what proportion of an investor's portfolio should be made up of gold and silver? Share your thoughts on Mark Faber's analysis in the comment section below.
