you today is Monday January 28th little late today we had some snow last night to clear the driveway and sidewalks we are supposed to get some 20 to 30 below weather coming up here in Wednesday if the high is 17 below zero yeah that's what happens in North Dakota yeah I was down a little over 200 points today at one point I was taking a look at it when I was right before I went outside to go clean the driveway and it was down over 400 points he got down tunnels don't know a little over 400 it wasn't much more than that I don't think so down a little over 400 points that I'm finishing down about 209 so what a 200 point comeback from its lowest today finished down less than 1% Nasdaq was down over 1% still hanging on over 7,000 though we had earnings going on today three big movers biggest warmer today was a video 14% today missed on revenue and that caused AMD Advanced Micro Devices to fall eight percent as well I was just looking at the AMD chart that thing stock is just insane to ups and downs and that thing it was that two dollars here just in 2016 2 dollars and ago left a 34 that's ridiculous a little over two years and now it's at 20 it's done that in the past it's been up to about $50 back in 2000 and then it fell all the way down to under four well three years later and then I went all the way back up so 42 and then I went all the way back down to 2 and then all the way up to 10 back down to 2 up to 4 down to 2 again and then all the way up to 34 and now we're sitting that 20 unbelievable ride for this stock you know dividend or anything so you know long-term I don't know there's give yourself to kind of play that stock trade trading I guess you can get it get it low and maybe sell when I makes the big jumps I don't think I would get it now at 20 bucks its it's down quite a bit from its high but still 20 bucks for AMD you still I don't believe that are profitable you've had this huge run and I still at the same time well I guess there maybe it'll make a little bit of 31 cents a share price they're earning 65 pretty high still a lot of risk in this stock not saying it won't go up I definitely would not be putting any money AMD right now couple of stocks FL big on caterpillar was down over nine percent uh turnings today I'm not good news coming out of Caterpillar ticker symbol see 80 another stock that's been really volatile that's sell today was Freeport FCX the United States largest copper miner folder holding over ten bucks still but every time he hits that $10 seems to bounce back it's been it's been in between 10 and 20 bucks here for quite a while that one is you know it could be like a totally different company but it could be like an AMD stock it seems like when you get it at a low point and sell it when it's high it's really low right now we've talked about this stock a lot same prices it was back in like 1994 so it's it's really fall and it was got up to $60 a couple times the low has been five it's never really gotten below five I mean it has just the very very short period of time but every single time it's made huge jumps when it's hit five bucks it hit fives back in 1999 and then doubled really quick and then fell back down to five and late 2000 that's when it made a historic run it was a under five bucks late 2000 early 2001 and they went from five all the way to kind of went up and then went back down to five again and went up to ten and then went back down to five again actually really the best I would have been late 2002 middle of 2002 if he could have bought right around there it went from five to sixty so you're looking at a twelve times 12-time gala twelve hundred percent game and when we get to six to you in two thousand seven so a little over four years i went from five all the way up to 60 and then I did hence the stock has some huge swings went from sixty I dipped out who looks like a really sharp down turned to thirty-five and then right back up to sixty within a very short period of time within like three four months and then that's when you know I wasn't following this stock it wasn't following much stocks at all at this time but this was well what an epic fall here went from over sixty it's spiked up over sixty a few different times and then it just 2008 when everything else kind of fell this fell more than anything it looks like going from over sixty was saying looks like about six months I'd went from 60 down to or looks like about eight seven or eight dollars man that was I think copper prices rallied not long after that in the stock went from that seventy dollars back up to sixty again two years later and then it fell all the way back down that was 2011 when I hit its high and then I fell in to five years later exactly five years there sometimes it's almost to the day time oh it's it's just goofy sometimes how this works were stocks can't highs and lows like right had to be right at the end of the year like literally the high was literally right on the line of end of 2011 beginning of 2012 and the low was literally on the line of 2000 2000 of 2016 but it's funny how that works and now you've got the stock rallied we're talking about Freeport here uh ticker symbol FC x1 from five all the way to you have a 400 percent gain there in just two years and that was the high tune right at the beginning of 2018 I mean like to the day it looks like January 1st was the high and then it fell it's fallen 50% now we're back to ten bucks today man I just don't know if this thing's gonna it's gonna gotta fall back down to five again to make another historic run or if it's ten is the bottom it has been a couple times where it looks like ten was back in 2008 ten fifth you know we had those huge sell offs in the market 2008 where stuff dipped and then they were kind of recovered pretty quick it looks like 10 was really you know it dipped under there maybe you know a couple days but ten was really the bottom and then before I recovered to sixty and we're at ten now again so um you know I might be one of those stocks they do pay a one-and-a-half percent dividend to it couldn't be one of I mean long term I mean I would say with electric vehicles that there's gonna be a huge demand for copper the coming years I think this is one where you know it is extremely volatile who knows it might it might go back down to five again you know when you're down 50 percent that's that's tough if you've got much money into it but it could recover it could go on a huge run again you never know it could go on a run where I mean it makes a new all-time high it has that potential so let's let's wonder to watch pay attention to moving on here what else we got Oh bio Christopher masu turkle's down 8% think we talked about this one yesterday I was a pretty big mover ah not any news today trying to break through $10 sometimes when a stock tries to break through and doesn't make it it just Falls Harding it was up to just below $10 today it didn't quite make it and then it followed fill back down all the way to 895 which if you go from the high double it was it was actually up I think four or five percent this morning I was kind of surprised when I was show up on my radar and the the dark red when it was all of a sudden it was down 8% never really covered today recovered a lot of stocks didn't like the ones I just mentioned even when the doll came back a couple hundred points some of these stocks just kept going down onto video a caterpillar freeport AMD bio Chris you know the jump in the doubt and not help those stocks at all the only stocks that were biotech stocks were giving pretty hard today the only one that I really saw that was off was Puma was up today that settled at $27 today that's when we've talked about a lot seems you don't work it seems to have no effect on that stock right now the marijuana companies were up today those were the big gainers today marijuana stocks tilray it was up 9% new age beverages was up seven and a half percent canopy growth was up almost 5% the only news I really see out of those companies was paper jaffrey upgrade in the price target of canopy growth company CGC they raised the price target 50% and that unless there is news I didn't see any from tilray or new-age beverages but I think that's what caused those stocks that jump as well and it's funny because canopy growth is actually the company that got the price target increase but to array and new age beverages actually jumped more than canopy growth bed so that's kind of interesting there I see overstock was up over 4% today you know that's the inner as the cryptocurrency that we talked about they're pretty much shifting their entire business to to this blockchain that they've the CEO has basically put everything on the line with this blockchain that's a new cryptocurrency that they have so that's another really interesting stock to follow but mostly mostly in the red today we obviously did not rate through the 25,000 for the Dow I sure if this these negative earnings are gonna persist through the rest of the week or if we're going to see anything positive would be nice to see some positive earnings so we can so we can keep this rally going in the markets some cheap stocks out there still some that are pretty expensive but if you can find the right stocks don't forget to always take a look at the income statement balance sheets I some when I'm gonna buy a company a stock in a company I always just line by line and just pick those earnings in those financial statements apart to make sure that there's no red flags there so if you ever got any questions with any companies that you're looking at I can you know go through the two financial statements with you and see if there's anything that we come across that raises any red flags so so I guess that's what all today there are some stocks ever don't clear it mostly biotech soil was down I think 3 percent today so a lot of the oil drillers were down Transocean was the number 5 percent that stock I had that stock for a while around around $8 and then I sold it and then it went up to I think 12 or 13 but now it's back down to 8 again so that's one where you look at the chart that's another one where I was up I mean I think this one I don't know if this was because of a split or not but the chart says that Transocean in 2007 was up 275 dollars now it's at 8 imagine owning a stock that was 175 dollars an ounce at 8 I mean what do the calculations but think it's got to be about a 95% wipe out their investment maybe if you got it if your gotten at the top which that's exactly why I never my stocks on their advert all-time highs that's just you're kind of asking for trouble when that happens so that's why I like to buy stocks when they're low we ask sometimes they go lower you know but I think your chances are better if you guys buy something when it's when it's low you know something where you know maybe the fundamentals are still there that's why the looking at the balance sheet income statement are so important if you would have looked at Trans oceans balance sheet at the time he had askew would have seen before the crash you would have seen I mean there was other factors a lot of other factors obviously in 2007 which caused it to crash but you would have seen that the company had a mountain of debt unsustainable amount of debt and that's why I fell so hard when I was from 175 to 50 really clean had a couple of recoveries but that's why it's gotten it's extremely hard when you talk about our getting 95% wiped out is because of the mainly because of the debt so if you can that's why it's so important to look at those balance sheets and make sure you you know all their revenue from these companies aren't going to pay off their debt so yeah let's see anything else to talk about here I'd really like to know if there is any major technological advances going on out there I follow these biotech stocks to see if there is anything you know diseases being cured or anything like that this huge biotech round all I've really seen is you know Gilead has basically they call it a cure it's 95 percent people who take it or cure from hepatitis C but other than that I don't really see any uh you know don't see cancer being cured or anything like that yet as far as technology see more of the virtual reality stuff but nothing doesn't seem to be anything groundbreaking here lately so you know it would be interesting to see if the Nasdaq can keep going up without some sort of technology you know like the like when the iPhone came along that just changed everything so again let's meet up again tomorrow and I will be here right after three o'clock and please subscribe so you can get a reminder every day I'll be doing the updates thanks
