Look at how Salesforce shares have skyrocketed. After the close of trading, the cloud software market leader reported an incredibly successful quarter. It also announced a significant expansion of its partnership with Anthropic, where they will integrate their customer relationship management software into Anthropic, despite fears that AI will destroy companies like Salesforce.
But this partnership put an end to such worries, perhaps forever. This afternoon on Closing Bell Overtime, I had the opportunity to chat with Salesforce co-founder and CEO Marc Benioff and Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei about their new partnership. But now I want to invite Marc Benioff to discuss his wonderful quarter in more detail.
Mark, congratulations on your return to Money. Jim, it's always a pleasure to be with you, thank you and greetings from San Francisco. Okay, let's get straight to the point. Mark, this was a fantastic moment of acceleration into the second half of the year, because that's what people were afraid of.
Will it accelerate? Tell us how you managed to accelerate exactly as we hoped. Jim, you know, this apocalypse narrative was complete nonsense. I mean, I've heard you say it many times myself. And here you see, Jim, the net increase in average order value— the highest in four years. Skeptics said jobs would decline, Jim, and Agentforce, Sales, Service, and Slack—everywhere is seeing growth compared to last year.
Skeptics said customers would leave, and turnover is now at nearly the lowest level in history. And, Jim, the skeptics said pricing power would decline, but here we are, thanks to our A1E and A4X packages. The volume of orders more than doubled compared to the previous quarter. And, Jim, contract terms have improved across all segments.
New business and renewals, agent usage on the platform increased sixfold. Six times, Jim, because agents are using Salesforce more than ever because of our model context protocol calls , and the apps aren't dying. They are growing. Nine of the top 10 AI companies, most of them within a block of us, as you'll see at Dreamforce, Jim.
Nine of those top 10 AI companies use Salesforce and Slack. Their spending, Jim, is growing 435% annually . Advanced models depend on CRM. They do not replace it. You just heard from Dario from Anthropic, the number one AI in the world. How he standardized his work on Salesforce and uses it every day.
And now, together, we've created Cloudforce so you can build next-generation enterprise applications . It was all nonsense I heard. Come on, hey, while we're at it, let's debunk all this nonsense. People were saying, “Oh my God. " Slack doesn't work that well." But it was a stunning success for Slack.
Jim, I, I can't describe the success of Slack. This is unlike anything I've seen in this industry. We saw triple-digit growth in Slack orders for the quarter, but the numbers are simply impressive. And that's because every new AI company is built on Slack. Slack. Plus, we got some great replacements.
I was just at one of our clients, Nike. Great company. I love their products. I use them myself every day. They standardized work on Slack. General Motors standardized on Slack. We're having tremendous success with Slack everywhere. Incredible. And these new clients are quite exciting. If we could start with FIFA, because the World Cup just happened .
Cisco, the spy type, because they are the largest also standardized on Slack. That's right. And I also want to mention a company that a lot of our viewers use, and I think they'll be surprised that you and Robinhood have merged, even though I knew from the beginning that this could happen, but now it's a reality and I'm going to tell you about Robinhood.
Well, first of all, you know my opinion of Vlad, I consider him something like the Steve Jobs of our time in financial services. I've never met an entrepreneur like this before. I've known him for a long time, and you probably remember that he went through a terrible crisis, but it changed him. He's become a great leader, and yes, he's standardized on Salesforce and also uses Slack, and you know, I have a lot of respect for him, the company, and everything he does.
This is so exciting, and let me tell you, it's not just Robinhood in financial services. There are many other companies that have also made deep commitments to Salesforce, like JP Morgan, like Bank of America. All the largest financial institutions, Jim, are built on Salesforce. The Department of the Army is on base, uh, what?
Veterans. These are very large contracts. All 15 US agencies use Salesforce . And you're right, the army is running it. We are also rebuilding the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). So there's a huge opportunity for efficiency and automation in the U.S. government, and the idea that we can start to take and evolve some of these legacy systems and upgrade them to AI-based systems like Salesforce is a huge opportunity for the U.S.
government. I couldn't be more excited. You know, the Secretary of the Army took me aside and said that thanks to Salesforce, he completed his recruitment four months early. So, not only do they force human agents to carry out his plans four months early, he carried out his plans four months early. This is very difficult to do because it has not only human agents, but also agents with artificial intelligence.
So it can attract more people than ever before. And now the Army Personnel Command plans to conduct 55 million conversations with agents every month. No, 55 million, Jim. I mean, it's " become all that you can be." I like it. Yes. You're like an army, Mark. The only thing I think about when I hear about these contracts is that it can't just be about your niche.
It can't just be sales. You have to do what others are doing , you have to take market share away from other companies that are perhaps more “SaaS- oriented.” Well, Jim, I'm thrilled with the success of Salesforce's ITSM product . What we do in IT systems is very exciting. We already have over 450 companies on Salesforce’s ITSM platform, and this month we did a huge conversion from ServiceNow for McAfee.
I think we will have more to tell you about, we are very satisfied with ITSM, and service in general is a huge area. I think you know that I have performed over 5 million autonomous service operations myself using Agentforce, Jim. If you go to help.salesforce.com, you can see this: of the 5 million that I completed, 2.5 million that required human intervention were automatically transferred from the AI agent directly to the call center.
That's exactly how it should happen . It was a very powerful moment for me to see that it really works. By the way, about what really works: we had the opportunity to chat with Dari earlier. This is Anthropic. Many believe that the reason for the concerns about Salesforce was Anthropic. I think they should be afraid of being in a company that isn't Salesforce, because it sounds like a very successful partnership.
I know this is the first of many. I know it's not necessarily exclusive, but it will be very beneficial in the future, because otherwise you might not get these clients. Jim, you have to remember that Salesforce is first and foremost a data business. We help our clients build data warehouses, integrate, federalize, and harmonize their data.
You may remember, Jim, we acquired Informatica last year. This database is critical not only for Entropic, but for each of our clients. And we also have the applications business : in sales, service, marketing, commerce, and the Tableau analytics that you know so well. But these programs are no longer just programs; these are also the semantic foundations for these AI models.
These AI models need this level of intelligence, security, and control for users—we call these user models, sharing models , and on top of that we add an agent model. And this new interface you mentioned—Cloud Force. It can bring it all together and unlock the value that has been locked up in enterprise systems.
All of this will unfold in the next generation of AI user interfaces, and it will require the investments that all of these companies have made . Yes, you mentioned FIFA, Deutsche Telekom, Army Athena, Uber Health— all those with whom we signed agreements this quarter or year. Let me tell you what's going to happen, Jim.
By adding Cloud Force to these systems, they will gain a new level of value and capabilities. They will be able to create a variety of next-generation applications that were simply impossible before. Well, no, it's a great combination. Mark, I'm glad my trust fund owns Salesforce stock, as it has for many years.
I mean, when did we establish our trust? I want to thank you for participating. I want to congratulate you on your excellent results. This was in 2009. I think that was the first time you invited me to the show. I don't think we've had a billion in revenue yet, Jim. Now our revenue is almost 47 billion.
Great job, Mark. That was a real Thank you for your support, Jim. We are very grateful to you. Of course, Mark, it's mutual, and we'll see each other . See you at Dreamforce. Jim, you're going to love what's happening at Dreamforce. We have prepared some incredible things to discuss. New products such as Cloud Force, Slack Code, and more.
See you there. I'm looking forward to it. Thank you very much, Marc Benioff. I'll come and take my whole team . We can't wait to see everyone take the wife. Why not? I mean, let 's do this for real, huh? Okay, take everyone. Mark is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Salesforce. Congratulations, Mark.
Nice to see you, dude. Money will return after the break. When Nvidia reports, the whole world listens. So listen closely, because Jensen Huang is talking to .
