Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel. I'm Laura. Starting today, I'm excited to launch a brand new series called the story of top traders. In this series, I'll share stories and lessons from some of the greatest trader who changed the game and build amazing legacies. Today, we're talking about a real legend in trading, Ray Deio.

Before he turned in 28, Ravens broke three times and almost lost everything because of bad calls. But in the end, he built one of the biggest hedge funds in the world, Bridgewater Associates. Ray Delio's name stands for more than just money and power. It's a story about bouncing back from failure. Ry grew up in Queen, New York in a pretty normal family.

His dad was a jazz musician and his mom was a stay-at-home mom. When he was 12, he used the money he earned working at a golf course to buy his very first stock, nor just airlines. He didn't read reports or study the company. He just bought it because the price seemed cheap. Lucky for him, the company got bought out just a day later and the stock price shot up three times.

That was Ray's first taste of making money trading and it gave him the wrong idea. He thought he was some kind of nature, but really he just got lucky. In college, we got hooked on trading all kinds of markets from foreign products to bonds, forex, and stocks. He started talking bigger risks with borrowed money, feeling super confident.

And what happened? He went broke again and again. First time he lost all his own savings. Second time he lost borrowed money, even worse. third time in 1982. He was sure his market call was right, but it wasn't. He shorted the market publicly and got slammed by every bond. He lost a lot. Clients pulled their money.

His team had to shrink and he even had to borrow cash from his parents. Re said, "That was the most embarrassing day of my life. I realized I wasn't some genius. I was clueless. After that big failure, Ry made a K decision. Stop guessing blindly and start tracking every trade carefully. He built his own trading rules.

Every trade has to have clear reason. Every win or loss must be studied. Every lesson needs to be writen down. He came up with this model. Don't try to predict. Get ready. With that we created a system based on logic status and testing but emotionally or get feeling. He put all this into a book called principles which become a global bestseller.

One of the biggest takeaways pain plus reflection equals progress. That simple formula has helped tons of traders grow. In 1985, Bree studied a bridgewater associates, just a few clients, a small office and some old computers. He treated trading like science and so markets as complex system. Bridgewater style is super strict and calm.

Every model, signal and decision gets reviewed multiple times. Ry created the for famous all weather strategy. A way to invest that works in any economic climates no matter what the market does. This changed how Wall Street thinks about managing risk and Bright Water quickly grew into one of the biggest hedge funds.

Managing over $115 billion, Ray didn't stop at beginning successfully. He shared his idea through books, talks, and social media. His book principles is translated into many languages and helps not just traders, but also business leaders around the world. He teaches us that making money isn't a whole story.

It's about how to rebuild your mindset after setbacks. He's not perfect and hasn't had a smooth aride, but he kept reflecting and pushing forward no matter what. Ray Dio's story shows us trading isn't a quick path to easy money. It's about making mistakes, learning, and growing. A great trader isn't something who never fails, but someone who learns from mistakes and turns them into strength.

If you ever lost money, doubted yourself, or wanted to quit, remember what Re said, "Failure isn't the end. It's the start of success if you learn and keep going." That's the story of Ray Deio, a guy who went broke three times as a kid and built a financial empire.
