greetings today's focus of our talk is on two things primarily the first is the punk truck or the cyberpunk truck 2.0 and exploring some of the mysteries of the vehicle the second thing we take a look at is what we call ice 2.0 strategy and so basically in the first round we're at compliance vehicles and now we've sort of entered a new realm of vehicle types and what are the implications of that this is greg for Tesla fan it's like thanks once again for joining us the huge sound you hear behind us is we're actually in a place called Redondo Beach California we're still on our sort of West Coast tour and our goal is to shoot some video today in Los Angeles at the Auto Show but this background is kind of different in interesting and just a bug you guys what I may do is sneak in some of the views for example you can hear the sound behind me of the ways hitting but to my right is as you can see is kind of a landmass and the contrast of water to land is kind of interesting so note if you don't like it we won't do it again but it is cool to be at patterning of the water so we wanted to start off for a discussion today because as you all know Tesla stock price took a nice hit after the cyber truck was revealed and then the market had a chance to take a look at it and I I had a meeting there's a a gentleman who I know from my high school and he owns where his family owns a number of car dealerships and what was kind of crazy is that there's a word I want to say I might get in trouble with YouTube for but I'll try to figure out how to do it so what he pointed out is there's a blank for every seat and so he referenced this one time when we were talking about there was a a vehicle that was unique that was for sale at one of his family's dealerships and you know he kind of made the point they one need not panic because there are plenty of people to purchase this vehicle you just have to line it line up the two so when it comes to the sort of drop-off in the stock price of Tesla the sign is that there won't be a lot of people interested in buying a truck with the functionality elements associated with the cyber truck and you know this vehicle likely is two or three years away and we expect that there's going to actually be a whole bunch of changes to it and possibly integrating features developed for that vehicle into the other vehicles in Tesla's line so I think the you know the bad news of Tesla and it's not price it and all that stuff is overdone because there actually are a lot of people who want the functionality that comes with this one of our show advisors and I were comparing notes and he indicated that when you think about things like bulletproof windows and sort of similarly body panels there are actually a lot of people who are building those vehicles for specific customers and one of those customers is drug lords really need those it's those trucks and so this might be a help along the way another element I thought interesting is how when there are certain folks that are building vehicles they will actually focus on producing a vehicle that is in line with issues that they're dealing with and you're trying to wait well you know how would you build that vehicle well the answer is that hey if you're very wealthy live in an area where there there can be security issues there are folks that actually think about hey how do i optimize my vehicle relative to safety issues so there's there's basically a you know there's basically a market for it even if market may not be you so I'm neutral on the vehicle it's I my inclination is towards the model why I'm working on getting a model three a lot more functionality in terms of the ways in which I might use the vehicle but I do think there's a large market of folks if you want to see who's who is gonna buy this heavily there's a vehicle called that the Jeep Wrangler or the whole Jeep line and I've been awed to see not only how many folks own those vehicles I also AM to see the fact that the modifications that they do on those vehicles are consistent with the fact that folks like the flexibility and they like to take those vehicles in different directions and I just think that there's a whole bunch of ways in which this all happen another element that was pointed out to me was that speaking at Jeep Cherokee there's a dog going crazy right now I guess I won't catch it quickly enough from a big Jeep with giant tires etc along the beach here so any rate a lot of very cool elements I would not argue that it's what I would purchase right out there bad I think I'm more of an SUV and client person because I want my cargo to be enclosed but you can actually do that with the cyber truck by putting a shell on the back of the camper so you could get that done so you know I'm gonna reserve judgment especially when we see a whole bunch of people you know there's a long line of people who actually have reserved it and I'd say one of the mysteries that we see from it it will be revealing the more as we learn about it is the fact that there's only 100 dollar deposit which resulted in a large number of folks in our show in our comments saying that their plan was to go ahead and get in line for the reservation wait it out and then go from there to see what actually happens in the future and so I can't say that that's a bad idea at all although you know a hundred bucks per person seems really low when you consider some of the other prices that are being asked for by Tesla when it comes to deposits so that's good the second thing we wanted to focus on today is that there's sort of new news in China it turns out that they've come up with this sort of experience Tesla process where as they get into selling on a larger basis they're now using the China built model threes that are currently available to ship them to 40 different locations in China and allow people to actually try the vehicles out before purchase it's you know it's fun it's kind of fascinating on China points right now because the suggestion was that it's only moderately cheaper to to purchase the US version versus the Chinese version of the model 3 and I have to say that I this was a mystery that I was really intrigued by it was if the Chinese version costs a lot less to produce it would actually really hurt those who had purchased the US version previously so I think keeping the pricings your close to each other within 2% or so is a really good idea and you know there's not a lot of a huge amount of competition for what Tesla does so you don't have to discount that heavily so we're really excited about the prospect of larger sales for the company and those sales translating into a more stable Tesla going forward that's able to meet any and all obligations I have to admit as as I'm talking there are a bunch of people running along the beach here so you'll see folks behind me and their folks in front of me so I may acknowledge so another sort of mystery of Tesla and China and China is who's producing the battery so we're gonna start the conversation now as we learn more we're going to be diving into this more heavily and what that means is that there's this interesting phenomenon going where everyone's speculating that the battery builder will not be panasonic for the Chinese vehicles and so there was actually news out of Japan where indeed the the head of Panasonic indicated that they will not be building a factory in China to service Tesla's battery needs and there I guess for data points I want to bring up on this number one Yolanda indicated that bettors would come from three locations US Japan and from China number two he also indicated initially that he was going to build a battery plant in China and then he came out with news saying that there's a plan right now to actually double the number of batteries produced at the main Giga factory from 35 kW kilowatt hours all the way up to about a hundred and twenty so I guess that's even more than it's a tripling so when he announced that I was like wow this is great I like the idea of the battery bills being kept in the US and all the expertise kept there as well versus shipping it to China as had been the plan so Wow so any rate the bottom line is that we're seeing a situation where the builds are happening Panasonic's still producing but we need to dive more heavily into this conversation and unfortunately we can't do it right now but this is great for Tesla insight please remember your leg lifts twenty five leg lifts with a five-pound weight on each leg daily remember don't go to bed without within four hours of eating best case or two hours at a minimum from Redondo Beach California this is greg for tesla fan inside and also with low battery inside
