Imagine watching silver fluctuate by more than two and a half dollars in a matter of hours, while gold drops by 130 dollars in the blink of an eye . Most people would panic and sell everything. But one of the most prominent voices in the precious metals world looked at this very chaos and said something shocking.
This wild ride is not a warning, it is a gift. And the reason he gave could completely change how you look at your money. Before we get in, please do me a small favor. Click the subscribe button and tap the bell so you don't miss any videos like this one . And now stay tuned, because the story gets stranger and more exciting with every minute.
So, here's the starting point. Last week, gold and silver went on a rollercoaster ride that left many investors quite dizzy. Peter Schiff, a man who has been a strong advocate for sound money and precious metals for years , says: The pullbacks were not at all a sign of weakness . In his view, they are proof that something stable supports the entire market.
He even said that the sale had given people another opportunity to buy. He expects gold and silver to rise again on Sunday evening and climb even higher on Monday morning as Americans who sold hastily rush back in. Remember, this is his opinion and not investment advice, but his arguments are worth hearing.
Why is this important to you? Because this is n't just about gold and silver. It's about where the big money is currently moving. Schiff believes that investors are quietly moving away from risky bets like crypto and overpriced tech stocks and migrating to things that have real value behind them. If he's right, what you see on the charts is just the first chapter of a much bigger story.
And the biggest twist involves a famous Bitcoin buyer, a promised check for $2,000, and some bananas. Yes, bananas. Stay tuned. Let's start with the craziest part of the week. Silver had just risen by more than a dollar, and gold was up by more than 50 dollars . Then, just before the American market opened, a massive sell-off occurred.
Gold fell by about $130 to $140. Silver lost more than $ 1.50. That means it went from a gain of over one dollar to a loss of more than one dollar. Add it all up, and silver moved by over two and a half dollars between the US trading close and the US opening. That's a dramatic spike in a very short time.
The most important thing about all this noise for a ship is this. All the chaos took place while gold was above $4,000 and silver above $50. He keeps saying that $50 is the real support level for silver. Does that mean silver can never fall below that level? No. Silver is inherently unpredictable and rarely stays neatly on a round number.
It could easily fall to 49 or even 48. But the idea is simple. Buyers regularly appear in this area . Look at what actually happened. Gold, whose key support lies at 4000, did indeed slip below this line, but only just. After rising above 4000, it never fell below 3900. The lowest level Schiff saw was somewhere around 3910 or 3920.
Silver briefly dipped below 50, but then immediately shot back up. Don't forget about timing. On Thursday evening, silver almost touched a brand new high, while gold was less than $200 away from its peak after climbing back above $4300. After the sell-off, gold slipped back below 4100. Sounds scary, doesn't it?
Schiff says: "No, for him this is very constructive trade," he explains. 4000 is the new 3000. Just like 3000 used to be the new 2000. The same pattern applies to silver. When it reached 40, he said: "40 is the new 30." Now, in his words, 50 feels like the new 40. And remember, silver fell below 40 a couple of times before it shot up to 50.
It could therefore slip below 50 again, especially since it is only 60 cents away . But he wouldn't wait for that. That brings us back to his weekend plans. He sees this latest sell-off as another buying opportunity for SchiffGold customers, who might visit the website on Friday, Saturday, and even Sunday morning .
Why the rush? Because he expects a significant increase on Sunday evening and an even greater one on Monday morning . He also noticed a pattern . The big sales tend to happen towards the end of the week, not at the beginning. Therefore, he believes the weekend is the perfect moment to stock up on gold and especially silver, which he believes is on the verge of an explosive move .
Let's pause for a moment, because I have a question for you. What do you think was the real reason why money flowed out of risky investments this week ? Write your answer in the comments, because in the next part you will see exactly how big this shift was and the numbers are surprising. According to Schiff, the bloodbath in the crypto sector is a big piece of the puzzle.
He sees a massive restructuring underway. It's not just investors who are leaving growth and risk stocks and switching to solid, dividend-paying stocks. It represents a broad shift away from risk overall. Portfolio managers seem to want less of it, so the riskiest investments are sold off first. And where does the money go?
Not in bonds, he says, because the old safe havens are no longer safe when inflation is the main danger and the dollar is constantly losing value. Therefore, government bond prices fell during the day and over the week, while yields continued to rise. Tech stocks were also hit hard. The Nasdaq lost about four and a half percent over the week.
Now compare that to the shares of gold and silver mining companies. The GDX rose by five percent during the week, almost mirroring the decline of the Nasdaq in the opposite direction. And the GDXJ also rose by almost five percent. Imagine that. While tech stocks plummeted, mining stocks climbed almost as much as tech fell.
And now comes the kicker. These mining stocks would have gained much more had it not been for the losses on Thursday and Friday . Schiff believes that next week could bring much greater movement if the flight from risk continues. Sure, mining stocks are risky, but nowhere near as risky as tech stocks, and they have much more real profits to back them up.
Take Barrick Gold. The company released its figures on Monday, and in the first three days of the week the stock jumped by 13 to 14% before the violent sell-offs pulled it back. This shows how powerfully these companies can profit in a gold bull market . This brings us to the crypto crash, and frankly, the story here becomes almost unbelievable.
Krypto got the worst beating of all. It wasn't just AI stocks that suffered. Anything even remotely related to crypto was beaten to a pulp. So let 's talk about the flagship of the Bitcoin world. Michael Saylor and his company MicroStrategy. Schiff points out that Saylor has spent more than $47.5 billion on Bitcoin.
And this figure only applies up to the previous week. God knows how much he's spent since then. For all this money, MicroStrategy owns more than 640,000 Bitcoins. The average purchase price is just over $74,000 per unit. Bitcoin was trading slightly above 94,000, around 94,700, when Schiff spoke, after it had fallen somewhat.
Do the math, and that's a profit of 27% after five years of acquisitions. 27% Let that sink in for a moment, because according to Schiff, this is the man who travels around the world praising Bitcoin as the greatest asset of all time. According to Schiff, Saylor told people that the US government should sell all its gold and put it all into Bitcoin.
He said everyone should give preference to Bitcoin over real estate, precious metals and stocks because the returns are so enormous that diversification becomes pointless. And it gets even wilder. Schiff says Saylor's message is not only to put everything you own into Bitcoin, but also everything that belongs to others.
Borrow money, take on debt, take out a loan against your business, mortgage your house, and put all your eggs in one basket. And that's for an investment that, according to this calculation, has yielded a 27% return in five years . Then Schiff asks a simple question. What if Saylor had bought gold every time he bought Bitcoin?
Or silver. Or even the S&P 500? In his opinion, Saylor would probably have more money today. And there is a second, even bigger difference. Gold can be sold. The 27% gain for Bitcoin exists only on paper. And Schiff argues that MicroStrategy could never truly monetize it. Had the company invested $47.5 billion in gold over five years, it would be up well over 27% and could actually sell and keep the profits .
The ship goes even further. He says it is impossible for MicroStrategy to ever realize real profits with Bitcoin and that the company will eventually go bankrupt, with its Bitcoin being sold. Whether you agree or not, that is his claim, and it is a bold one. But this is crucial for the bigger picture.
The money is leaving crypto, and that's obvious. Shares of Bitcoin Treasury companies and Bitcoin exchanges have fallen by 70 or 80% or even more, one after the other. The entire sector seems to be imploding. And that brings us to the biggest turning point in this entire story. So how does a crypto crash help gold?
Schiff cites two reasons. The first one concerns attention. For a long time, everyone talked about Bitcoin as if it were Gold 2.0 and would perform much better. This narrative is currently collapsing, because gold is now clearly beating Bitcoin. The conversation is being postponed. In his words, it's time to throw away the fool's gold and buy the real gold .
Money that has flowed into crypto can now flow back into gold because investors want less risk, and Bitcoin is pretty much the riskiest thing you can own. The second reason concerns the economy. Schiff expects the damage to spread when the Bitcoin bubble bursts. The gross domestic product will feel the effects.
Unemployment will rise. Many people working in the crypto industry are losing not only their savings, but also their jobs and income. This means more pressure on the Fed to print money, and printing more money, he argues, is good for gold. Even people who have never owned a single coin could feel the effects of this collapse .
Therefore, he sees the fall of crypto and the rise of gold as two sides of the same story. Let's talk about the US Federal Reserve now, because things got confusing this week . An interest rate cut in December is no longer a sure thing. Schiff says it's basically a coin toss, based on statements from several FOMC members who have admitted they are unsure what to do.
This burdened risky investments. But here's the strange part. Money still flowed into gold and silver, even while there was discussion about not lowering interest rates. Many assume this must be bad for metals because they like interest rate cuts. But if the Fed waits, investors want safe havens, and gold and silver perfectly fulfill this role.
And Schiff adds something important. He says that for gold and silver, it does n't really matter whether the Fed cuts prices or not. The crucial point is that the Fed does not raise interest rates, and in his view, it should. He says interest rates were already too low before the cut and should never have been lowered.
Since everyone knows that the Fed will not raise rates no matter how high inflation rises, he sees this as positive for gold. In his view, cash is therefore losing value, confidence in the dollar is waning, and tangible assets are looking increasingly better. There was another reason why gold rose this week, and now comes the part I promised you.
On Sunday, Donald Trump floated an idea: a tariff dividend of $2,000 for everyone. Not for every household, but for every person, except for high earners. This means that approximately 95% of Americans would receive a check for $2,000. Calculate for a family of four and you'll arrive at $8000. Gold closed Monday with a gain of over $100, which was great for anyone who had bought on Saturday, just as Schiff had suggested in a previous video .
But where will this money come from? According to Trump, as Schiff recounts it, it is like manna from heaven, a gift from the gods, paid for by tariffs. Schiff strongly disagrees. Firstly, he says that customs duties are paid by the very people who receive the checks . And then came the moment he described as letting the cat out of the bag.
This week, Trump promised to lower tariffs on coffee and bananas, saying it was necessary to bring down high prices. Pause for a moment, because this leads to a big question. Schiff's logic goes like this: If lower tariffs make prices fall, then higher tariffs must make prices rise. So when Trump admits that tariff cuts lower prices, he is admitting that tariffs drive prices up.
Remember, Schiff says Trump told us that foreigners would pay our tariffs. Why do n't the banana farmers in South America simply accept these tariffs? They don't, we will. We pay them if we want to eat their bananas. And if lower tariffs on coffee and bananas are a good thing, Schiff asks, why not lower them on everything and alleviate the rising cost of living?
This is the real point he wants you to understand. These repayments are inflationary, and that 's good for gold. Where does the money come from to prevent these checks from bouncing? Schiff also says that the very idea of a tariff dividend shows that tariffs are largely political. Think about it .
The tariff is intended to make imports more expensive so that Americans buy less of them. But if you give people a big check, they can still afford these higher prices. The dividends are spent on imports , which negates the purpose of the tariffs and increases the trade deficit . In his opinion, the whole thing is nonsense.
Schiff says the same flood of cheap money is also taking place in the mortgage market. He argues that the government created this problem and only the free market can solve it, but the government is trying to make it worse. Flooding the economy with even more cheap money to keep a real estate bubble alive, he said, was good for gold and silver.
This is another development this week that could drive money from US dollars into metals. And that leads him to a bigger picture, which, frankly, is a little disturbing. He sees bubbles everywhere, losing air. Crypto, AI, real estate and even bonds, which are currently taking a beating. And he believes the government will do everything to stop the pain.
He says it must not allow a recession or a financial crisis, even if one were needed in the long term. In his view, the government's only goal is to make the economy look good until Trump leaves office. The last thing she wants is for a bubble to burst under his supervision. Therefore, expect maximum pressure on the Fed to lower interest rates.
And Schiff says that's exactly why she's going to do it. And when a new FOMC chairman comes in, he expects the Fed to go even further and return to quantitative easing to support the housing market and the market as a whole . They might even try to prop up Bitcoin, he adds, although he doubts there is any way to reinflate this bubble .
There are probably too many holes. But because the president's family is deeply involved in crypto , he expects them to try it with cheap money anyway. All of this, he says, should drive the dollar down . And he was surprised that this had n't happened already. So what is his final message after this turbulent week?
Have no fear. Many people see these large fluctuations and are driven out of the market. But Schiff reminds us that a drop of $100 in gold is not huge when gold is at around 4000. And wait until gold is at 10,000, he says. Then $100 is an even smaller movement. He sees the fluctuations in silver as a sign of an outbreak.
They are simply keeping some potential buyers on the sidelines while they watch the market rise. He believes that this fear will eventually turn into greed , but we are not there yet, because greed is still inherent in Bitcoin. At some point, he says, this greed will turn into fear. And then the crypto market will collapse.
In his view, we are nowhere near the bottom and things are still going downhill for a long time. In contrast, he sees a long way to go for gold and silver . This contrast is the core of his argument. In conclusion, Schiff believes that the interplay of changing monetary policy, government spending, and shaky market confidence strengthens the long-term argument for precious metals.
He says that the more precarious risky investments become, the more investors tend to seek stores of value that protect against falling currencies and political uncertainty. Persistent inflation, tariff-related prices, and attempts to stimulate demand with gifts all demonstrate how fragile the situation appears.
And capital flows into investments that are supported by genuine scarcity and genuine demand . His concluding thought is that the monetary system is changing faster than most people realize.
