Why is Warren Buffett so successful? Does the billionaire have a secret recipe for success? If so, what can we learn from him? Hello and welcome to Talabox. My name is Bastian. Today, with the help of Warren Buffett, I want to show you why psychology is crucial for your success when investing. Not only he, but many millionaires and billionaires you ask say that the difference between success and failure lies in mental attitude, or mindset.
Even Warren Buffett's mentor expresses himself as follows: "The biggest problem, even the worst enemy, likely." In other words, the investor's biggest problem, and probably his biggest enemy, is himself. So, how do we develop a good mindset for investing, and what exactly constitutes a good mindset?
Let's look at five pieces of wisdom from Warren Buffett. Wisdom number one for a good mindset is: know your true risk. Do n't close your eyes to real risk. It's pointless to hope, fear, or believe. Warren Buffett says risk results from not knowing what you're doing. So, don't trade based on belief, but always on knowledge.
Or, put simply, do n't invest in assets you don't understand. You understand, or as an old proverb says, "What the farmer doesn't know, he won't eat." This very point was a major problem during the financial crisis because many people did n't know what products they were investing in. But if you follow my channel, that shouldn't be a problem for you, because you can learn a lot there.
Furthermore, Warren Buffett gave a very good example: if you think it's risky to be an entrepreneur, try working for someone for 40 years and ending up living on welfare. What's he talking about here? Old- age poverty if you've never taken care of it yourself because you believe the state will take care of you and that this is the safe way.
So know your true probabilities. Buffett is a specialist in this, and that's probably one of the reasons why he's such a good bridge player. He beats his opponents with probabilities. To be more precise, the successful investor focuses on probabilities and economic problems and makes rational decisions, questioning things.
He does n't blindly follow the crowd. So be different, be better, as Steve Jobs said. Warren Buffett's second piece of wisdom is his emotions. Having emotions under control is more important than anything else; they can be your greatest enemy. Buffett believes it's essential to have your emotions under control to be successful on the stock market.
He goes so far as to say that if you can't control your emotions, then forget about money. But how do you control your emotions? How do you react as coolly and emotionlessly as possible, like a robot? Yes, practice makes perfect. It doesn't happen overnight. You have to ask yourself: Am I acting calmly and collectedly, or am I making a decision emotionally based on impulse?
Everyone has had an argument and realized that they did n't behave rationally, perhaps even overreacting completely. A day later, or sometimes just an hour later, you see everything completely differently because you have distance from the situation. The same applies to your finances. We have to distance ourselves somewhat from everything and look at it from the outside, not constantly fixate on it.
So, better performance without emotion, and I've noticed this myself many times because I've achieved much better performance without emotion. For example, in poker or trading. Back then in poker, the knowledge advantage kept shrinking, so that... I only won when I had my emotions better under control.
It was the same with trading; I was constantly looking at the chart and literally glued to the screen, and then my performance was always poor. In contrast, when I simply set a stop-loss and a take- profit and then stepped away from the PC, I had much better performance. This is precisely why passive investing through ETFs is so interesting.
And as they say, out of sight, out of mind, and emotions are out of the equation. Warren Buffett's third piece of wisdom is not to listen to the opinions of others. Warren Buffett specifically means the recommendations of analysts or media outlets whose opinions are like financial pornโthey don't really help you, but rather influence you subconsciously.
This is how Warren Buffett has been quoted. I think one of the biggest mistakes is buying or selling stocks based on headlines. The influence of others even goes so far that successful people are convinced that you are the average of the five people closest to you. So it's very interesting to look at what similarities you have with the people in your environmentโshared habits or hobbies.
So be careful who you surround yourself with, because successful people Always surround yourself with other successful people. Number 4 of Warren Buffett's mindset is long-term thinking, taking a bird's-eye view and looking at everything from above. This is also how Warren Buffett's headaway works. As Warren Buffett says, someone can sit in the shade today because someone saw that tree a very long time ago.
And here the long-term perspective becomes very clear again. Another quote is: no matter how much talent you have and how much effort you put in, some things simply take time. A baby does n't arrive in a month just because you've impregnated nine women. A slightly crazy quote, but it also reflects the right idea of โโthe long-term perspective.
So we have to see the world through Warren Buffett's eyes to become successful. Investing is like a snowball rolling down a long, steep mountain. At the beginning, it's very small and slow and barely visible, but it gets bigger and faster. This is what all of Warren Buffett's wealth is built on. Let's move on to wisdom number 5 of Warren Buffett's mindset: invest in yourself.
Warren Buffett says, invest in yourself and start thinking like a billionaire. And how did that work? Or what helps you? Reading, reading, and more reading. If you're one of those people for whom reading isn't a ritual, you're missing out on countless opportunities every day. The more you read, the smarter you become.
If you read just one book a month for the next two years, and they all revolve around the same topic, then you'll be among the top five experts in that field. And that's the true power of books. At the end of the video, I've linked another video with the top books on money and the stock market. But how do you develop a positive attitude towards money, or how do you achieve your goals and wealth?
There's a very nice analogy from English that forms the foundation for wealth, and it's called Wells. The "W" stands for "write down what you want," which means something like, "write down your goals." This is also one of the main lessons from the book "Thinking of Riches." "E" stands for " invise your future," meaning, at the beginning, have the end in mind, as in the book " Seven Habits of Highly Effective People." Imagine what the future should look like.
Many successful people use this technique. Affirmation/Desires: Repeat your goals and wishes when you've written them down. Look at them daily, ideally in the morning before you start your day. Your top three to five goals. Listen to your inner voice. Live the life you envision, not the one others want to dictate for you.
Take action and transform. Start even if it 's not perfect, because you'll improve and learn more as you go. The first step is the most important. The vision: Believe in your vision; it's your motivation, your "why" when things get tough, because they definitely will. If you implement all these points, nothing should stand in the way of your goals.
So, what's the key takeaway for you? What can you learn from this? It won't be as easy as reading a book and then adopting Warren Buffett's mindset, because otherwise everyone would probably be rich. But with some time and effort, you can implement some of Warren Buffett's strategies and thus invest more successfully in the stock market.
So, how can you proceed? As mentioned before, invest in yourself. On the left, I've linked a video about the top books on finance and the stock market, and on the right, my video course that shows you step by step how to... You can successfully build wealth passively, so you have to start becoming an expert yourself.
