with our five-year investment time Horizon and having been around this block a number of times uh we know they're going to come to a deal they are not going to deprive employ government employees of their paychecks Social Security so retirees of their paychecks it'd be politically disastrous as we're heading into this election year and and already the field has heated up so so significantly so they're going to get through this uh it's a very short-term phenomenon it might be a short-term fix and hopefully they do get serious about this at some point in time but we don't think now is the time Kathy Woods investment firm Arc invest may regret selling almost 1 million shares of Nvidia between October and the present considering the chipmaker's impressive year-to-date surge of over 160 percent nvidia's stock skyrocketed by 30 on Thursday following the company's announcement of remarkable guidance benefiting from The increased demand for its chipsets supporting generative AI technology platform forms like open AIS chat GPT and alphabet steepmind however despite being an active investment manager who has held Nvidia on and off since 2014 with missed out on substantial gains as Arc invest started reducing its position since the first sale on October 5th when they owned 1.3 million shares nvidia's stock has surged by 190 adding 620 billion dollars to its market value by late November Arc invest only held slightly over 500 000 shares and currently they hold 390 000 shares across their next Generation technology ETFs excluding their Flagship disruptive innovation fund rough estimates suggest that Arc and vests potentially missed out on over 200 million dollars in profits by selling its Nvidia stake at the end of the previous year in an accompanying video kathywood explains her perspective on the Nvidia investment and why she does not believe it was entirely a wrong decision to divest she expresses her strong confidence in Tesla and why she considers it the best investment choice at present additionally she provides insights into the the deflationary state of the U.S economy please take moment to like this video subscribe to the channel and don't forget to drop your comment and observations in the comments section below thanks and enjoy the video very positive on Nvidia we have been very positive on Nvidia we bought it down when it hit nearly a hundred dollars in the fourth quarter last year and and then it tripled as some of our other AI oriented stocks Stood Still so you know we're looking at believe it or not many people do not believe this about us we're looking at relative valuations of uh names in the AI space and we were looking at Nvidia 25 times sales which is where it is and Tesla which is probably the biggest AI story out there is that six times earnings uipath yesterday uh I mean not earning six-time sales uipath yesterday uh reported it is a beautiful AI play it too is at six time sales and as far as Nvidia goes there are a few reasons we uh we take some pause it still meets our minimum hurdle rate of return so 15 at a compound annual rate over five years and so you'll see it in some of our more specialized portfolios yeah we're we're looking for uh the better values but the the risks to Nvidia would include cyclical when I hear shortages shortages shortages about gpus or anything I begin to think about about the cyclicality of a group competition Tesla is coming up with its own chip meta platforms Google their own chips for more specialized large language models and and then the tech itself we're learning from meta platforms the Llama model is able to do with less computing power but more data yeah it's able to deliver better models so there are puts and takes here as there always are people who understood the Nvidia story we were pounding the table on it on 2014 you know really till 2021 and many people actually put into their portfolios their own portfolios and they may have held it we have not gotten much pushback and the reason is people know that we are on we are on a AI but we're doing it in a little bit of a differentiated way Nvidia has become a check the box stock that's why the valuation is where it is but we are looking for those plays uh that have not only the the vision from management team point of view and Broad distribution but also proprietary data and AI expertise so uh we're just pivoting to another set of plays that most people have not discovered yet much like they did not understand that a video was an AI play really until very recently Arc invest has previously released an evaluation model that predicts Tesla's price to reach two thousand dollars per share by 2027 indicating a remarkable upside of one thousand and thirty percent from its current price this valuation model relies on the concept of Robo taxis a topic recently discussed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in an interview with CNBC musk stated that Tesla is full self-driving technology would eventually enable the company to sell cars at software margins he also praised dark invest for their comprehensive analysis of this subject let's continue watching the video as Kathy Woods shares her perspective on her Tesla Holdings and further discusses the deflationary environment that we believe uh Tesla is building it has more data talk about proprietary data it has more data on of real world driving miles than all of the other auto companies and technology companies like waymo put together around the world we would say except for perhaps China because we don't know exactly what's going on there and we do believe that the autonomous taxi platform opportunity is a winner take most opportunity the company that gets a person in an autonomous vehicle from point A to point B as quickly as and safely as possible is probably going to get the Lion's Share of the market and that company will in the United States We Believe be Tesla and we believe globally that opportunity will scale from zero today to eight to ten trillion dollars in revenues uh by 2030.
so you can see why we're so excited by Tesla it is it is the the furthest Advanced from an AI point of view and it's even becoming a manufacturer of factories using artificial intelligence and becoming more and more and more efficient in manufacturing uh factories and and cars uh we think it's the most efficient in the world right now our history with China after covid was we plowed in during covid because we liked what China was doing from a monetary and fiscal point of view they were they were not overdoing it and then of course we entered the period starting in November of 20 where you know managements were basically banished from their companies and there were there was one restriction and regulation after another and so we've pulled away quite significantly uh common Prosperity it seems uh means very low profit margins uh and uh services that reach into Tier 1 on to your two cities so uh JD Logistics and and JD we we have some of that but um we have minimized our exposure until until uh China basically uh seems more inviting to Capital once again when history books are written we'll look back at this period and we'll see the sharp rise in inflation uh which was caused by Massive supply chain really Supply shocks from kovid and the war in Ukraine and you will see so sharp increase and it feels like it's so slowly coming down but when the charts when you start looking at these charts in history this decline will be look very like it was very rapid and we will descend into deflationary territory uh don luswin wrote a a piece uh it was an editorial in the Wall Street Journal I believe about this and I think the FED is going to be blamed for sending us into a deflationary period already we're getting negative uh signs for guidance Home Depot it's same store sales down three to five percent for the year now they're expecting we got uh uh GDI which is the other side so Global I mean uh gross domestic income which is the other side of gross domestic product and they need to equal but they're at a record Gap right now it's been negative so in recession territory for the last two quarters and I think many companies are going to feel a hard landing and is going to come both from units and prices uh I think more and more companies are reporting this on their earnings report these these uh economic statistics that take all the oxygen out of the room are hugely lagging and they're not even getting it right if you look at the digital world gross domestic product was that statistic was devised in the Industrial Age where in the digital age right now so we pay more attention to gross domestic income which tends to be more accurate as we're seeing these inconsistencies the challenges of actively managing a portfolio focused on disruptive Investments are evident in Arc invest decision to sell off part of its Nvidia Holdings despite selecting the right investment theme there is no guarantee of choosing the right companies to invest in Ark invest Consolidated its portfolio by reducing its Nvidia position as the Stock's valuation was very high instead Arc invest is placing its confidence in uipath its second largest AI focused holding across all its ETFs Tesla remains our convex top holding with its self-driving technology and AI Endeavors however both uipath and Tesla have captured only a portion of the year-to-date gains seen in the industry in other news Kathy Wood has a expressed concerns about the United States regulatory system hindering its position as a leader in the Bitcoin movement wood pointed out the shift of cryptocurrency's center of gravity away from the United States due to unfavorable regulations citing coinbase expansion into Bermuda and Singapore she emphasized the need for a decentralized and auditable monetary system highlighting the vulnerabilities of centralized Financial systems shown by ftx's collapse managing portfolios of disruptive Investments is challenging and while there are differing opinions on Ark invest decisions the potential of Tesla reaching two thousand dollars per share by 2027 remains a topic of discussion share your thoughts in the comments section below for more daily dose crypto news check out these two awesome videos on your screen click now and we will see you on the next video
