Warren Buffett, a great investment guru, came to the US and started investing at the age of 11. Today, at almost 90 years old, he has come and used his investment skills in the best possible way and created many, many billions of dollars . Today we are going to look at what lessons we, as investors, can learn from him .
This Warren Buffett came along and came up with a principle called the Power of Compounding, and he came up with a very clever idea, and he used it to increase his winnings. If you look at how it was , I started when I was about 11 years old . His portfolio reached its first billion dollars when he was in his mid- 50s, 55 years old .
A billion is a big deal. He was 55 years old when that billion dollars arrived. If you look at it after that, it's compounded and now his wealth has gone up to several billions, over 30, 40, 50 billion dollars. What can we learn from this? We do our SIPs, what can we do as investors? What is the problem?
If a small investor comes and starts an SIP, and within a year, they will see that the portfolio will not have given a big return. It's a bit disappointing for them, but if the market performs well, they'll want to withdraw the money within a year, and that's all . If you look at Warren Buffett's life journey, he only made one billion in the first 40 years.
If you look at the next 40 years, that $40 billion will turn into $40 billion . This is the power of compounding. If you were to make a journey continuously, that power of compounding would multiply that tarp many times over . So, let's come and read about it from his life history. Plus, no matter how much the market fluctuates, he often won't come and take responsibility for it.
He won't go to the market and withdraw that money. If an opportunity like that were to arise, he would invest the money at that time . So what is it, let's come to his house and do value investing. He is a man who deals in philosophy and who deals in the market at rock-bottom prices, but for some reason I go and buy it for my mother.
That's why his wealth has grown tremendously. He will tell you a famous one. Sell when everyone is buying and buy when everyone is selling. Which means that if you do something contrary to the market, you will benefit a lot and you will get an advantage. So, in a panic situation like this, people buy like that when the market is at a terrible low.
A big lesson for an investor is that you don't want to go and sell your existing mutual funds or equity stocks in a panic situation like this, even if you don't buy. Because you will invest in a good company and have a good reputation . If we go and plant our seeds at that time, it will be our loss.
Maintaining that is Warren Buffett's specialty, and we can learn from him at a time like this . The third thing is, what Warren Buffett says in his own words, I don't understand some segments of the market. When the Fur instance technology company came in 10 to 15 years ago, they didn't come in and make big investments.
He agreed to it. I don't understand what this company's business model is or how much profit it will make, so I won't invest any money. People thought that was a big influence on him at this time. That had a little impact because when that company was performing terribly, I didn't know much about the performance of his fund, but I knew that I would invest because of what I knew.
I didn't make a big mistake because his portfolio was all good companies, very good companies, so that company wouldn't be affected by a big market crash. If you look at it in the long term, he wouldn't see a lot of money in the upturn of that technology company, but even when the market crashed, his portfolio wouldn't be affected.
So what we know from this is that we should handle it better rather than buying something we hear in the market. So if we do our homework and invest, the benefits of that will come better. We can learn from this from Warren Buffett because to what extent he comes and puts money into something he doesn't know, it's not the same.
For example, if he comes and sees his investments, if he sees his philosophy, sir, if you come and see whether you will invest for five years or 10 years, his answer comes. Who knows what his answer is? When I ask why, he says, if a company is doing well, I get returns from it many times over, why should I take it and withdraw it?
And the funds will remain as they are, I will get returns. If I need any money, then I will withdraw the money for whatever need I need. Otherwise, I will stay invested. Who is that, who is our investor? What do we do? Let's put it in for a year, take it out of the market, put it in for the next year, take it out.
If we have been doing it like that, then give that power of compounding a chance. We will not. If we were to do like Warren Buffett and make our investment and stay invested, we would get a good return in the long term. This portfolio can continue as is. If something comes up and I need a return from it, I can withdraw it.
I can withdraw as much as I want from any stock or mutual fund. I can continue the remaining portfolio as is. The only thing he says is that if someone here comes with a portfolio and does it well, then I'll go and check it out. Similarly, if we continue to work on our portfolio without thinking about whether to withdraw or not, we will have a good portfolio and compounding will happen just like that.
One of the best pieces of advice that Warren Buffett gave recently is that he came to people and said, " Why do people make mistakes in investing?" If you're like that, you should always react to a piece of market-related information . What he is saying is, if you have done a lot of research and made an investment, please stay away from that investment.
All those voices outside are saying that if your investment is constant, the benefit of that portfolio will not be cut, plus this month, so you will miss out. You don't know which segment you invest in and which segment will bring you the return. There is a cast in both the second entry and exit. Similarly, after deducting capital gains and taxes, there is not much left in the hand .
So, if you want to make a profit, you have to have a segment of the market in a sector. I have seriously investigated that segment or sector with good value and invested in it. If you wait, it will be a good investment. So all this is Warren Buffett, the world's largest investor, the most sage of the world.
He has made many, many achievements in the investment world. He has made everything simple. He has made everything big. He can do everything easily for us. What we don't have that patience, that discipline, and that follow-up. If we follow both of them, our investment will benefit us many times over. Thank you so much.
