first there's alphabet okay that's apparent Google I think they have real earnings risk here in many ways alphabet reminds me of Microsoft before it lost the biggie trust case nearly 20 years ago there's no escape from Google it determines what you read first and often what you buy first not to mention what you see first on YouTube a lot of first amendment stuff in there what that's congressional purview one of the reasons I've been such a fan of the stock is it has an almost monopoly power that's earned probably its own ingenuity deservedly problem with that unless I can find a way to placate the government someone's always gonna try to be breaking them up the good news stocks sorted pretty darn cheap selling for 21 times textures earnings the bad news while Peter Till's call for a McCarthy style investigation the company's ties to China seems very off-base there's a reason he's going after these guys look I personally love everything about Google but there's no denying its incredible power and it does have the ability as the critics would say to be coercive so I think there's real earnings risk here the company needs to find a way to to self-examine and not buy cheap AI but buy expensive humans they have the money I know they don't want to slow down the innovation they're great innovators but they they lack a powerful well known outside counsel who can tell them what's right or wrong I couldn't believe there was some no-name alphabet guy on the hill answering questions about Chinese communist infiltration can they be that tone-deaf they need some heavy hitters out there to get them out of this Jam next up there's Amazon these guys have Big Brother and Alexa they've wiped out small businesses all over the country they have the power to steer their own goods but Amazon also has friends they've got distribution centers all over the country which gives them influence with Congress their platform is beloved by just about everyone who use it plus CEO Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post hey that's what we did ensure you get publicity although he has not influenced the editorial like that source so if you're worried about corporate concentration that bad enough self bit of riff like even though Amazon spent years crushing smaller retailers I think this one's in the best shape at least here in the United States company's being investigated by the EU but it's been a brilliant settlement with the German authorities nobody's talking about to change his terms of business or a piece of grass some sellers aggrieve sellers yeah the kind of people that are on Shopify like I talked about the top of the show now I think these changes will immunize the company most though amazon knows how to play the game we asked me that least there's Facebook man they sure didn't buy much did they with that five billion dollar settlement with the FTC it's out of the frying pan in the file with these guys the Treasury Department is not thrilled with Facebook's plan to launch its own cryptocurrency me bruh talk about a self-inflicted wound get it things simply bring in some unassailable outside counsel the real credibility couldn't they find some sort of distinguished federal judge who's retired somewhere I mean then maybe the government could would allow them self-regulate again so I'm not that worried about Facebook why in part it's because their Instagram business is on fire as is my Instagram account which is on fire but mainly I'm not worried because I have a plan for them Facebook watches the show so listen up Facebook I understand I like the Libra concept but you got a drop it's clearly doing more harm than good instead just take some of your money you went into payments just go by square seventy billion that's a hundred percent premium nobody turns to have a hundred percent premium then they can blow out squares payments networks worldwide Square cash is gonna be Facebook cash Plus don't forget Square takes Bitcoin so they can still get their cryptocurrency fixed look I'm not being a griever but being the crosshairs of the federal government is going to cost these companies money the bottom line you impact free speech like alphabet' does you're going to take an earnest hit and maybe even some breakup risk as we get to the election you impact commerce like Amazon you're going to have at least a smaller nice it may be a fine but I expect the new rules to be relatively painless like the ones they agreed to in Germany and if you're Facebook come on guys drop leave or go buy square bring in a distinguished former jurors to help play the fence maybe that's enough oh and for those European regulators just like our afternoon show I say check please believe me that's how things work judge cnbc.com you
