01. what's up everyone and welcome back to the Stocks with Mike and Tom show. We have so much news to go over today: NVIDIA earnings, DoorDash earnings, Matterport earnings, some brand new Russia news, what's going on with the Fed minutes, and what's going on with the market right now. A lot of crazy stuff, so stick with us. Tom, we're not going to waste any time. What's going on in the market?

02. Yeah, NVIDIA reported earnings today, and in after-hours trading they're all over the place. They ran up to $275.97, then fell down to around $251, and they're ending up right in the middle. Their earnings came in pretty good, but they didn't really beat expectations by a large amount. They beat slightly on EPS, and their revenue also came in slightly higher than expected. Their year-over-year numbers were actually really great, though. Their growth has been awesome. They pretty much said their gaming business rose 37 percent year over year.

03. One reason NVIDIA might be so volatile after hours is that they expect a $1.36 billion hit to their operating expenses as a result of the ARM deal failing to close. That ARM deal brought quite a bit of volatility to NVIDIA earlier this year, and it looks like it ended up costing them $1.36 billion, and they didn't even get the deal to go through. To top it all off, true, that's right.

04. So I'd say it's safe to say overall NVIDIA did report some pretty good earnings, but I feel like it wasn't enough to generate the hype and make the stock really blast up.

05. Yeah, exactly, I think that was the main thing as well. Like I said, the EPS came in just barely over expectations. If this had come in at maybe plus 50 percent or something like that, it might have given the stock a pretty big boost. They did report great growth. They said they had $3.26 billion in sales from their data center business, up 71 percent annually. Their year-over-year numbers look pretty good, and after hours they're honestly staying steady. But as we look at NVIDIA on the daily chart, they've been recovering off these lows in a pretty good way over the past couple of weeks, so hopefully we see that movement continue up tomorrow.

06. Yeah, that's true. I know it's been struggling a lot over the past couple of weeks. It had those highs just under $350 per share and it's been all over the place, so hopefully it holds up pretty well.

07. But Tom, check out DoorDash. This stock is blasting in after hours, so what's going on with this one?

08. Yeah, this one is actually flying up. They reported a net loss, but they also had some really good numbers come out. They had record numbers for quarterly total orders and gross order value, and more than 25 million active users at a high, which is really good for an application like DoorDash. It shows strong demand for delivery, and I think that's going to be really good for them.

09. With DoorDash, they obviously came in under the estimate on EPS, and their revenue fell just below expectations. But their outlook for this year looks pretty good, and as we start to transition out of the pandemic, it should help DoorDash as the economy gets a little better.

10. We'll see either way. The stock is blasting up in after hours, and it's always good to see a company report record numbers. The stock closed around $95 today, and as of right now it's over $120 a share, so it's really blasting up. To be fair, though, this stock got destroyed over the past couple of months. A couple months ago it was at $250 a share, and today it was under $100.

11. That's pretty crazy, that it was under a hundred, and we're going to open tomorrow at $120, so at least right now we're in good shape. Hopefully it keeps up here. A lot of these beaten-down companies have been coming back up in a pretty good way. I know we saw Enphase report good earnings and get a pretty big boost, then fall the very next day. I just wanted to point this out, because with DoorDash it's always important to be careful. Lately we've been seeing these explosions, and usually the stock settles down over the next couple of days.

12. Alright, and Tom, we can't forget about Matterport. This stock is getting destroyed in after hours right now. Their earnings weren't anything special. The good news is that their total subscribers rose almost 100 percent year over year, and overall they did well, but it wasn't anything amazing. It was a decent earnings report. There weren't any jaw-dropping announcements or jaw-dropping growth.

13. Yeah, definitely, but they did make some good announcements. They launched a lot of different things, which is always good to see. They're innovators, of course, and I know they're pretty good in the real estate industry, getting houses on the market and doing virtual walk-throughs and stuff like that. I don't know, Mike, it sucks to see them down this much. After hours it was a pretty big drop down to $6.45, and we might have to call Matterport a penny stock in a couple of days.

14. No, no, Tom. This stock has been struggling so much over the past couple of months. Right now it's at $6.85, and after hours it was around $8. Well, I guess you could say around $8 in the main trading day, but just a couple of months ago, back in December, this stock was trading around $37 each. It's been brutal for them.

15. I just can't believe this one got hit this hard. Most of these companies, like Unity, that had all that metaverse hype ended up holding their supports a lot better, but Matterport just kept going down. Hopefully they come out with some good advancements, and maybe as the metaverse comes out a little more, that'll help Matterport get back to the upside.

16. Tom, what other earnings reports do we have for the rest of the week? I know we're set for a volatile end of the week.

17. We're definitely not done. Tomorrow before the open we have good old Pollen. They're going to be pretty big. They've been recovering over the past couple of weeks, and hopefully they report good numbers to go up with some of these other growth stocks. Walmart's going to be big, Fiverr too, and Yeti, which makes the coolers and everything like that. Then tomorrow after the close we have Roku, Dropbox, and RUN, which I think are going to be big, plus Redfin. Still a pretty big day tomorrow. And we can't forget DraftKings on Friday, of course. They're going to be huge. But tomorrow we have Pollen before the open, and if we look at Pollen's chart, they've been holding up pretty well.

18. Yeah, not too bad. They've also been struggling a lot over the past couple of months, but again, not too bad. It's a highly anticipated earnings release, so definitely be on the lookout for those stocks. But Tom, the market was all over the place today. It was falling early on, and then we blasted up in the middle of the day. What caused this rise, and what happened with the Fed minutes today?

19. The market's so volatile, Mike. Early in the morning we dropped as more Russia news came out. Apparently yesterday Russia said they had begun a partial troop pullback, but today NATO came out and said Russia was increasing its numbers at the Ukrainian border. So one side is obviously lying to the other, and I don't know which side is correct. Russia says the U.S. media is hyping all this up, and the U.S. media says Russia is pulling our legs. Looking at this, it's obviously creating a very volatile market. The SPY took a big tumble, then bounced off the $442 support. Then as the Fed minutes came out, the market exploded right back to the upside. Apparently the market liked the news that the Fed is looking to raise rates. The Fed has been hawkish lately, and as inflation starts to spiral out of control, the latest minutes showed the Fed is pretty much going to start using its tools to try to stop the high inflation. The market liked that, and we had a pretty good pop to end the day.

20. No doubt about that. When rates rise initially, everyone freaks out, and it definitely hurts the present-day valuations of all stocks, especially growth companies. But keep in mind that rising rates are a necessary thing. When we have inflation the way it is, it's necessary to slow everything down a little. Overall, the market normally rises over the long term even as rates rise, so please keep that in mind. But Tom, like you said, we had a wild day, especially with the Russia and Ukraine news, plus the Fed minutes. Looking back at the SPY, what levels are you seeing?

21. Honestly, we talked about the main levels to watch yesterday, and I said one of the biggest levels was that $446 resistance up there, and that resistance played out very well this morning. In pre-market the SPY bounced off it once again and moved back down. Then it bounced right off the $442 support and came back up to $448. We actually broke back above $446 at the end of the day. So looking at the SPY, I'd say $448 is going to be the big resistance to watch for tomorrow. We kind of double-topped there if you count the pre-market movement. As good support, $446 might work as a shorter-term support. As a longer-term support, I think $444 and $442 will be better levels to look at.

22. Good to know, Tom. Alright, before we transition to the next part of the video, I want to give a giant shout-out to our member of the day, Rick S in the Discord. It's completely free, you can network with a bunch of other traders, talk about stocks all day, and even message Tom and me. Definitely check it out. Tom, any last-minute thoughts on the market or anything else going on right now?

23. Yeah, the market was so volatile today, Mike, but we had some pretty good moves. Corsair popped as they're being added to the Small Cap 600, which is cool to see. DWAC started to rise, which is pretty good to see, though I know that stock has been hyped up a lot. And we even have one of our favorite stocks, Disney, starting to break out in a pretty good way. Disney broke above its $155 resistance today and started moving up nicely. I know they had some earnings last week that went very well, and I really hope to see them get back up to the highs around $158 or $160, and hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.

24. There we go, Tom. Disney's definitely on my radar, but before we wrap up today's video, we can't forget about the momentum plays. With the first one, we have Square, potentially to the downside.

25. Yeah, poor Square. Today they're right around this $108 support, so if they fall below $108, I'd definitely eye them for a quick in-and-out day trade. With the next one, we have BABA, potentially to the upside.

26. Yeah, the China stocks did pretty well this morning. They started to consolidate a little at the end, but if BABA can break above $127, and maybe above $127.50 if you want to be a little safer, I think it has a pretty good chance to run.

27. Sounds good. With the next one, we have Teladoc, also to the upside.

28. Yeah, with Teladoc, go ahead and make sure they break above $75. They almost triple-topped up here over the past couple of days.

29. Sounds good. So we're watching Teladoc and Alibaba for potential day trades to the upside tomorrow, only if they break above the levels Tom listed, and we're watching Square for a potential day trade to the downside tomorrow, only if it breaks below the level Tom listed.
