hey guys this is Eric of investing apps TV and today I'm bringing you some news I heard today about the cash app and buying and selling Bitcoin instantly through it so about a week or two ago the cash app did announce that you can sell some users could sell Bitcoin on the app but just today they announced that most users can buy and sell now instantly on the cash app and I'll show you how to do that in just a bit there are five states that are currently excluded from this but I'll get into that also in just a bit so I heard this announcement this morning on their Twitter feed actually at Cash app where they announced you can now buy and sell Bitcoin instantly with the cash app so that's a pretty cool I'm always interested in exploring additional new ways to access cryptocurrency so if you aren't sure what the cash app is I wasn't either myself I just actually downloaded the app on my phone this afternoon because it's actually an app that you can use to pay friends in saleem pay family instantly send money to and from your bank as well so if you want to learn more about the cash tap you can click on their website here it'll explain what it is but basically they do have a little help article today explaining about their new feature with Bitcoin and it basically says cash app is already the easiest way to send and receive money with friends and family and we've now made it just as easy to buy and sell Bitcoin straight from your cash app balance unlike other apps most of our buys and sells happens in seconds you can even spend your proceeds from a free Visa debit card and they do also warn you that bitcoins price is volatile and unpredictable so please make wise financial decisions don't spend more than you can afford and review the facts and risk to buying Bitcoin before you buy so that's always good advice guys remember when it comes to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency it is still a very volatile asset and markets still very new so as always guys I also agree with that never invest more than you can afford to lose and always invest for the long term because in the short term there are lots of ups and downs that are unpredictable so never invest more than you can afford to lose big advice they do have a FAQs page as well about their new feature with buying and selling Bitcoin but you can guys can read that later if you want it's also linked on their Twitter feed where it says still unsure what bitcoin is you can click on cash dot me slash Bitcoin but right now I want to hop into the actual app so you guys can see how that actually looks on your phone so let's hop on over to the app here alright so this is inside the yep now and like I said guys I just got this app today myself it's pretty simple it doesn't seem like there's too many features in the app it's mainly a peer-to-peer money sending app but now another feature to buy and sell Bitcoin so basically when you first join this app when you first sign up for the cash app you're gonna need to link either a debit or credit card so you can transfer money in and out of your cash app so I added a debit card as you could see you could also add a credit card but I haven't done that yet to access the Bitcoin what you want to do is click on on the very top here where it shows $5 so I previously added $5 into my cash app account because when you first get the app you'll start with zero dollars in your account and with this money like I said you could send to friends or family if you want but if you want to buy Bitcoin with it after you add the money well first let me show you how to do that you would click here add cash on the bottom left you can add in whatever amount you want you can add $1.00 you could add $10 you could add $5 whatever you want it's all up to you so I personally added $5 just to get started play with the app so this new feature is here Bitcoin in the upper right corner it has a very minor chart here not very detailed so again I wouldn't use this app for tracking the price movement so much but if you want to access another way to buy and sell your Bitcoin this could be for you so as you can see they do have a buy and sell option so let's click on buy here and you could purchase it looks like as low as $1 so that's pretty cool pretty low price point of entry you can go all the way up to well $5 in my keys because I have $5 in my cash app if I added more I could buy more so let's lower down to one let's actually right now for this experiment let's click on buy $5 I'm gonna click buy it's gonna ask me to confirm your purchase of point zero zero zero four eight seven seven one Bitcoin at an exchange rate of 10,000 251 per Bitcoin so I'm gonna click confirm and that's it you purchased that one on a Bitcoin point point zero zero four eight eight seven one Bitcoin done and nice so if I go back now to my main account I don't have any cash in my cash up anymore but I now own some Bitcoin as you can see there the five dollars has been withdrawn from my cash app it's now in my Bitcoin wallet on the cash app currently worth $4 93 cents so I'm not sure if that was a price fluctuation in the moment I bought it or if that was a fee to buy it I'll probably make a more detailed video on the cash app because this is a newer feature of theirs but today I just want to show you guys a brief introduction to this new feature so let me know below down in the comments if you guys got this feature I did notice when I first when I first added the cash app to my phone I didn't have the ability to buy Bitcoin so what you have to do is actually go into personal click on personal right there and you're gonna want to add your phone number once you add that you'll then will have the ability to buy and sell Bitcoin on the cash app but basically that is it I now have the money in my the Bitcoin in my cash app again I can click on cell right here any time I want to sell it I could sell the max amount for 86 if I wanted to sell actually there might be a 7 cent fee it looks like to buy and sell because it's currently for 93 and if I sell I could get for 86 so maybe there is a 7 cent fee to buy and sell not quite sure but I'll learn more about that as time goes on and I will let you guys know as well so back on the computer screen let me go over a couple facts about the cash app they do have an effects page here where you could learn more but a couple points I wanted to cover was who actually holds my Bitcoin me or square so if we go to that square holds your Bitcoin on your behalf you have access to sell or withdraw your Bitcoin as indicated in the app is there a limit to how much Bitcoin I can buy you are only able to buy up to $10,000 with a Bitcoin per week but there is no limit to the number of Bitcoin you can sell also well I need to pay taxes if I sell Bitcoin yes the cash app will provide you a 1099 B form based on the w-9 information provided in the app so they will send you a text form during tax season here's another interesting point can I send Bitcoin from from the cash app to my other Bitcoin wallets and their answer is yes you can transfer bitcoins to any other Bitcoin wallet using your third party while it's address in the app so you can definitely send your Bitcoin in the cash app to your coin base wallet or to another mobile wallet if you have one as well so if you want to learn more about that you can click on their article here getting started with Bitcoin and that'll basically open up a help article with showing you how to buy and sell Bitcoin on their app as well as how to transfer to an external wallet as well and then it says can I send bitcoins to other cash users at the moment you are not able to send Bitcoin directly to other users through the cash app but it looks like you will be able to send it to their Bitcoin wallet address if you wish - like I said guys let me know if you want a more detailed video in the near future on how to do this again this is just a new feature at least today I found here on the on the web here you can check out some major articles CNBC com it's basically that it's open access now to most people except actually I do want to cover there are five states like I said that don't initially have access so if we hop on over to the CNBC article that was just released today users of squares cash payments F can now trade Bitcoin except for those in the states of New York Georgia Wyoming and Hawaii so it looks like four states currently cannot access this in the cash app hopefully they will open access to this soon I believe I did read on their blog that they are working on this it's just that those states are not currently don't currently have access to this but if you're in another state you do have access to this right now and that's pretty much it guys like I said I didn't have the cash app today but I just got it it's a pretty cool little app I'm gonna play around with it and make more videos on the cash up for cost on the cash app let's click on that so I thought this was interesting it says they do not add an additional percentage or a fixed dollar amount onto your sale of Bitcoin when you buy a Bitcoin in the cash app but the price that you do sell or buy from is calculated from the quoted mid market price so I noticed the price might be a little higher so that might be how they're making their Commission's through the app here so it doesn't look like there may be a fixed amount it looks like there may be a slightly higher exchange rate that you might be buying it but again it does give you another way to access cryptocurrency to buy an to sell like I said I will probably make a more detailed video on this coming up let me know if you guys have any specific questions I could explore for
