Some resources say that your net worth is close to ₹14,000 crore. Meaning you are a billionaire. For example, if I have personal wealth of Rs 2 lakh crore apart from the company, then I need Rs 100 crore tomorrow. I can get 100 crores tomorrow. So, that thing has become deeply ingrained in my mind that brother, I am financially independent.
There is no worry about money. What's more difficult to you? Earning 1 crore from zero or earning 10 crore. Meaning, really only God supports you there. Seems like After Rs 100 crore, everyone in India is financially independent. Meaning, out of 100 people who start, only one or two are successful. I have not even spent a lac to build this 50,000 crore company.
And I did have a lack. From there to here. When we briefly cut the salaries of the employees, which still remains a scar in my mind. I do n't understand what is going on in IT. I wood say Indian IT is head winded. Now it could even degrow also. You have ₹1 lakh to invest. We cannot earn ₹1 lakh sir.
Take care of yourself. It is my job to explain but the other person should also understand it. Hi everyone, welcome to a new episode of The Networth Show. I am Shagun and today we have a very legendary guest from the world of investing joining us. We have with us Mr. Raamdev Agarwal who is the cofounder and chairman at Motilal Oswal Financial Services.
And of course because we are sitting with Ramdev Sir. There are going to be a lot of insights into our conversations. So make sure you stay tuned till the end. So hi sir. Hi Whenever I start a podcast I ask everyone how are you feeling? But that question is a little changed for you. How are you feeling and how are you feeling about the markets?
No I'm I'm I'm I'm good and I'm always I'm always optimistic about the markets. So, markets might be a little down or up. That doesn't impact my feeling about the market. I am always bullish. Right now also I am feeling in the same way. You have been in the market for a very long time. I think the market has grown with you.
You've seen all the faces I think. How has that evolution been? And most importantly, how have you seen investors change? Are there any new habits? Are there new frameworks? How has the journey been? So I don't know about the investors but my own evolution is of course what happens is that once you enter the market then you are with the market and if the market is not evolved then you are also not evolved so as a fresh chat account when I came in 85 83 actually so markets were very primitive ah one of the biggest thing was there was nothing to read newspapers were thin barely anything in the newspapers books were not available global books were not available information flow was very patchy.
The only way you could know about the company was from the balance sheets and they were very difficult to get by with all the physical details. So it was a very dark age of investing in the sense that their information flow was very, very limited. So all sorts of you know speculation and insider trading and parallel running all those kinds of practices were prevalent and they were like the right things.
They Were Not Wrong Things. Hmm. So that's how the market started slowly than the information flow. As a computer started becoming that a desktop started becoming common and the networking started becoming. So by 95 you could see between 85 and 95 there was a major change between the information flow and as the information flow is started coming, the efficiency of the market also started becoming much better.
Hum and by 2005 another 10 years and the markets became dematerialized you know ah there was no papers and the trading was also computerized and settlement was also computerized. So that completely changed and that made the market very safe. And then Sebi also came into being. So they set the rules of the game and the markets became very safe.
And that changed the market, it made it very safe. It became very what you call reliable and people had trust and since a lot of large investors started coming into FI domestically and participation started increasing that was 2005 then by that time then by 2015 it became very global in that time the economy had become kind of a two to two trillion dollar economy the markets had become one and a half trillion dollar markets so there was a scale also so that's how the market started even it becoming much more efficient and foreign participation was very large and since all kinds of research were returned and the substitution was as much as in the global markets.
And now we literally have one of the most subscribed trading systems in the world. Yeah. Ah we have the highest volume in ah futures and options. Ah stock futures are very-very unique in India. And we do 7-8 trillion dollars of trade in a day. Hmm. So now it's a very different ball game but it is decade after decade, the scale is increasing, the sophistication is increasing and the complexity of the market is also increasing.
Sir, as we were talking off screen. Today I don't want to talk to you only about the markets. A little further than that, you have to know about your life, about your personal finance. I want to know. So you just mentioned that you used to read balance sheets at that time because there was no information.
But where will this interest come from to have so much passion for something that you go and read its balance sheet. That is very interesting. So where did it start? Ah while I was doing my B.Com ah since then I mean like I was interested in the stock market um and when I came to do CA in Mumbai so then I started seeing the impact of stock market in the sense that I used to read a lot of fiction books so all the American fiction books they would mention about making billions at that point of time in 80 so there would be a lot of stories about making money in the stock market so that seeded in my head so I did have any money in my pocket but that kind of gave me the imagination of making money through the stock market and since I had day I had liking for stock market imagination of the stock market and my brother was in the Navy so he had few lakhs and that we said let's invest in stock market so I used his money to learn all the rules of the game between 1980 and 1985 Hmm so it was availability of a little bit of money from my brother and ah my passion to learn about the market because so somewhere I realized that there is an asymmetric return possible hmm in stock market compare to other place here you can make lot of money and there was also fear that you can lose lot of money.
So I didn't bother too much about the losing part of it. I thought in such a way that yes I can I can buy it at 100 and sell it at 1000 and something like that. Or I think it is the same that almost every career has a ceiling somewhere. But when it comes to the stock market, it is completely up to you where that ceiling is.
So that is very inspiring. Sir, anytime you go to Google and if you search your name, Ramdev Agarwal Net Worth definitely appears somewhere in the search list. And there are speculations that you are worth around Rs 14,000 crore meaning you are a billionaire. So talk to me about this journey. I know your father was a farmer.
So, how was the journey from there to here ? And sometimes do you get you know, do you shock yourself realizing that you are now a billionaire. What does that feel like? It's tough. No but yes I mean I realised when I came to this tower when I entered I was in 85 and when I came in 17 of course I did not have a place to stand even you know for staying and so that was a situation and now when I entered the tower hmm I feel proud that yes we have a place where we give employment to thousands of people and it is really a big edifice and then I have an office of my own.
So, I feel proud of what we have achieved but it's okay as things happen over a period of time. So a good thing is that nothing has happened overnight. We started with zero and C in 87 and from there it took the first crore to come in 5 years. First five years is 1 crore. Then the first 100 crores have come in 15 years by 2000 we saw the first 100 crores.
Then we saw the first in some time in 2008 years then first 10000 we saw in some time in 2020 also and now first 5000 we have seen in 25 so the scale change has been happening over a period of time so overnight nothing has happened yah so it has sunk into the head and we know I mean we have a journey for a much longer period yah ah but yes it feels nice to see from how far we have covered yah.
So, was it more difficult to get an AUM of Rs 1000 crore or now that you are scaling it further, what is more difficult for the first crore? The first crore is very difficult or it is very difficult to earn the first crore, which means earning one crore from zero or earning 10 crore, that is the meaning, it really seems that only God supports us there, when I look back, so many people started with me and very few made it, or you know, so there is a massive eye I red somewhere, 98-99% it happens there, I mean, like 100 people start, only one or two people are successful, so I think we are lucky once to survive and come forward.
So I think surviving that first five years is extreme. And we conducted ourselves in a very disciplined manner, a lot of hard working but we were very disciplined. We Never Went for Quick Money and We Didn't Want Anybody to Give Us What We Didn't Dies. No like we did want I mean if you are earning about ₹1 lakh we are pretty happy we did want to earn a crore ahead of time we not that would have been unhappy somebody had given but or but we never aspired to get something which we did deserve that is how we I mean we have set our own compounding process in the sense that we will go at this pace only I mean nobody can decide the pace but we were the people who were not in hurry.
I mean I wanted to earn a lot of money but I had a lot of time. So that was very clear to me that I am going to earn a lot of money. And I was also confident that I would earn. And but there was no timeline for how much time you will take for me to make? Yeah. Ah as much as I want to make. So since you wanted to make a lot of money, do you feel satisfied now that you made a lot of money and is there more that you want to make?
No I mean I will make a lot more money but yes we have made a lot of money now another challenge has come how do I dispose of it I enjoyed making money I am making money but now I want to enjoy giving it back to society so that's a different journey where we are still a kid or ok so now we are talking about your finances can you tell us about your asset allocation what does your portfolio look like in what percentage have you allocated where.
I am 100% in equity and 100% in equity right from day one the moment I got the first money some time in 87 when I must be my net worth must be ₹23 lakh hmm since then I am 100% in equity no leverage no cash 100% equity may be because of being a chartered accountant and something I have understood is the power of equity if you are right then it is asymmetric and that is what I want to bet on yah.
You know so I know that I can always make some lax here and there. So I have never had a fear about what will happen to me. So I was fearless about buying stocks in the market and that led to what you call my voracious appetite for buying stocks around the clock. I never set on market. I never bother weather the market is up or down.
I will always be 100% invested and that too in equity. Yeah. That has been it right from the beginning and I never borrowed it either. One of the things is, we never borrow. Never never. It will be only my only net worth if I am worth 100 crore the 100 crore belongs to me. I don't have to give it to anybody.
I don't have to give an answer to anybody. I don't have to pay a single penny of interest. So, I am 100% what you call allocated always, and allocated only in equity all the time. Yeah. How have you diversified your equity ? Equity is equity in the sense that all sources of equity I have. I have direct stocks, I have the mutual funds, I have the private equity.
There are three types only. I have a three line statement for me. Got it. All my one is of course I own Motilal Oswal. So that is the biggest source of strength. Hmm. We build for literally nothing. Hmm. We might have I have not even spent a lac to build this 50,000 crore company. Not even a lackey.
So I I did have a lack. So from there to here. From there to here, clearly that is my biggest portion of whatever you are counting and then we have some dividend and something which has been reinvested, you cannot do anything against the shares of the company. Hmm now whatever little you have extra that ₹1000 crore from dividend and 2000 crore dividend you have that you have again invested in equity only.
Or so it is 100% into equity. Or but that kind of allocation is possible because I have a running company which earns 100s of crores. So my fixed income is coming from there, assurance is coming from there and my investment is here in the companies. Sir, you know when I was shooting, I mean when I was preparing for this podcast, one of the things I was thinking of was that if there is some person in a tier three city who is watching this podcast and they decided looking at this podcast and they are inspired and they say I want to be the next Ramdev Agarwal, they want that kind of journey, they want that kind of success, but life is not just about income or just about career, there are lots of things in life, you have family, you have emergencies, you have your own aspirations, how did you balance those personal needs while also making sure that your wealth building journey is never compromised.
So, I have always had income from Motilal Oswal since 1987, when my career started. In any medical emergency or financial emergency, there are two things, one is that I can sell equity on a 24-hour basis. For example, if I have personal wealth of Rs. 2,000 crore apart from the company, I need Rs. 100 crore tomorrow.
I can get Rs. 100 crore tomorrow. Or I can do marriage expenses. I have Rs. 25 crore, Rs. 30 crore, Rs. 40 crore. I can buy jewellery. Whatever I want to buy on a 24-hour basis, it is very liquid. Hmm. Whatever is there, whatever needs to be bought, I have the purchasing power in my hand. It is just that it is lying in equity form while it is not being used.
Hmm. No, till you make a call on that, the money is lying. Now, money has become so big, I mean. What would be my expenditure? My expenditure would be half a million dollars. I have done a lot. I have spent a lot. I do n't know, even after all the travel, tourism, gifting, everything together, it is half a million dollars.
True, but in a billion dollars, where is half a million dollars, it is not even a percentage. So, it is very important to understand that now my financial independence is total or financially I am not a dependent on you. I mean now I am completely independent, the way I don't have any leverage on my head.
I don't have any kind of an incumbency on my net worth. I can do whatever I want to. So, even if it comes down by 50, 60%, if there is a collapse in the market, it goes down, still it is half a billion dollars. What will I do with that? So, that is all you have to do to understand financial independence.
That you are financially independent. There is a fear in everyone's mind that brother, do I have enough money for my future? After 100 crores, everyone in India is financially independent, that is why you have ₹100 crores. Even if you earn 7-8%, you can make a million dollars every year. You can't spend or so you know, people understood that after 100 crores, everything is just a matter of counting.
It is true that this thing has become deeply ingrained in my mind that brother, I am financially independent. So I am not worried about money. Or I I need not I don't earn for the sake of earning. I must enjoy what I am doing. Or I was actually going to come to that. Because after accomplishing so much professionally you know your own personal goals, have you ever thought about retirement because nowadays there is a bit of a trend on the internet if you have what is financial independence retirement early so base for early retirement yes then retire after financial independence then why are you even talking to you then that is what I wanted to ask you right now, has the thought ever come to your mind whether to retire or not our gurudev is Warren Buffett sir hmm he is old he was born in 1930 now it is this is 25 so he is 95 years old or ok and he says that I am I mean he comes to office everyday so investing is one field where actually be a blessing we can work till we are senile true you know so now my whole stress is on the health management the biggest my wealth will be made by compounding hm ok 12 We'll compound it with 15 20%, we'll do it okay, but 15% on a billion is like 15-50 million.
So that compounding will continue without much effort. Of course I have to. But health, health requires my real attention. So, very because now at this age, if I don't take care of it, it will decay it and then when the compounding the best of the fruits will come. I should be there to enjoy it. When I watch any of your conversations, almost every podcaster asks you about the QGLP framework, which you talk about a lot.
And like I said I am very new to finance so can you teach me the whole framework once? And more importantly, how do normal regular retail investors use the strategy in their own portfolio? See it's very common sense, actually anyone can use it. But that is the thing about maintaining discipline. You will not understand that thing.
It is my job to explain but the other person should also understand it. Why ji means quality, now quality stands for good quality business, good quality management, okay, if you buy any company then its underlying business is brother, if you are in share market business then it is a good business or if you are in consumer products like HL or NSE then you are in a good business.
Good business, good management, okay, good business run by good management, or the two, 99% of the analysis, 95 99 99 %, 99% analysis, we then third is buy at reasonable price, qji, then growth, good quality business, good management, and how much growth is ahead, do you see growth, is it static or is it growing, we then how long will the growth last, l why qji, l and then p when the KGL is there, at what price are you buying, we have to see the price first, KGL later, or I say you cannot assess the l sorry p until you know the KGL or you know, like you do not know the brand of a watch, can you tell the price, no you cannot, so it is like what does the company do, who runs it, how good is the business, for how long is it going to run, good, until you know this, how will you assess the underlying like value.
So what is there in the market? There are two things: price and value. Everybody knows price, nobody knows value. True. So this is our job, this is my job and for that matter all the investors like Buffett and anybody their job is to figure out the value of the companies. or ok? The end price remains the same for everyone.
For example, today the value of Apple is, say, 4 trillion. But it is available for 2 trillion or he will go and buy it, it is that simple or for the same reason whatever research is done in the market, there are millions and millions of people, there very few have the what you call tendency and passion to try to understand value or what is good value, it is not taught at any one place, there is no single book where it tells you that if you do these four things you will understand the value, no, for that also you will have to read a lot of Ramayana, Geeta etc.
and new things are coming every day. New work is being done in business. The internet is coming. AI is coming now. You have to learn everything to understand the value of a company. Recently Sameer Arora from India had tweeted that India's IT sector has missed the growth of new age tech, AI, cyber security etc.
because they did not invest in it. Recently TCS has also laid off 12,000 employees. For a very long time. Even When I Was in the Market. Even since then I have been hearing that there is a boom happening in the IT sector. It Was One of the Strongest Growing Sectors Is What It Felt Like. And now looking at the current state I am a little confused as to what is going on in IT.
So what's your opinion all. I am not able to understand. I know one thing they are head winded right now. See from 95 till 2025 and set 2020 and whatever for 25 years they were tail winded. We see there are only two winds. Either the wind is fairable and the wind is against or there is no wind at best some businesses are tail winded like my capital market businesses stock market businesses there are all tail winded or so many customers are coming some businesses are head winded I would say Indian IT for the time being is head winded now how head winded it is is how they will come out of it how they will reform themselves and find a newer model they have been very smart in ah becoming relevant.
Every time new change comes. You know when the web came, they again adopted very quickly. So, now the AI is another deception. How they will adopt to the AI services. You know, how fast they will train their guys? How will they become relevant with their client, so that they can deliver value on AI also with the client.
So, but right now, in terms of number of people, number of top line growth particularly. The model is still the same, the model is not bad. But growth is missing and since I would say it is now it could even degrow also hum so that I think a little so there is a head win right now it could be temporary also you never know or I think that is again very scary because I feel like IT sectors is I mean again in the last five years I have been hearing so much about IT left and right everybody was talking about how it is you know record high revenues.
The world was relying on our IT services. So the world will still remain dependent on Indian IT services but IT services can come in two three formats. One is the way conventional companies are going to deliver the service. Second, now global competition centers are coming. Or the global corporations are setting up their own back offices here.
And they're deploying all the IT people in their own what they call backyards. So as a country we will export lot of IT services. But will it come from my traditional company like TCS Infosys and will it come from GCC plus Infosys and TCS so or let's see how it shapes up? So if not it, I think this question is quite a big subset question for the investor audience that is listening.
What are some sectors you're excited about? Considering everything that's happening for what may be the next decade. Right Now I See the Tail Winds in Our Capital Market Companies and Businesses. We that is one than energy transition you know than even banks and financial services they look to be good so like that you will go business after business and try to because right now the economy in any cases even slower right now yah.
Real estate is doing very well. So you have to keep finding sector after sector than like all the electronic manufacturing companies. So there are segments in the market which are doing very well and there are segments which are advantaged. Hmm. Or. Let's go back to your personal finance journey. You obviously were earning and like you said that Motilal Oswal was your primary source of income.
And while you are doing all of that, did you ever consciously think in your mind that I have to do only income earning is one thing but wealth building? I want to make a big corpus. So was that a turning point in life or was it always a drive? The moment you start earning more than what you are consuming.
From In 87 I Started When I Did I Was Single. So I was not married. Hum so obviously my expenditure may be 50600 bucks here hum then as I got married the expenditure must have gone up to ₹2 lakh ₹ lakh or then by 2020 then I bought a house I bought my car first time I bought a car in life so those things start but then even there your expenditure may be ₹2 lakh ₹15 lakh ₹20 lakh a year and you are already running into cross or by 9293 we are running in cross hum so , I was way beyond my whatever was my day to day needs.
Yeah. So, I was already looking at it and I never said in cash. I was always continuously buying stocks. So, my wealth generation was very much like I never thought I would generate wealth. It was always a natural phenomenon. Like you said, I think starting from the beginning of your journey at Motilal.
Somewhere, with the income you had, you were able to support yourself financially from a very early stage. But were there any mistakes in this finance journey? Have you ever faced any such problems in your personal finances or with Motilal ? Not problems but in 20023 we for two three months we incurred loss we there was a post nine 111 there was a depression for two three months.
So a I think in 2003 for two three months we inked loss. So that time I mean we were very well off. Our net worth must be 30, 40 crore, 50 crore but our company was not doing well. So my whenever I had any concern that was the only point of time when I thought are we in a are we making in right line are we a have we devoted our time a precious time at the right place that was the only point of time I thought not financially but in general you know that time I was thinking then I said nothing doing boss I mean this country has to come up and that is how we rededicate ourselves and you know we passed those five six months when we briefly cut salaries of the employees this still remains scar in my mind or so that was a point of time it was not a financial difficulty but it was a business difficulty for sure or so now for this question now you are not Ramdev Agarwal and your name is now Aman we are Aman yes yes ji and now you are 24 years old and you have ₹1 lakh to invest For this, you live with your parents, there is no problem of rent, you have a stable job, now if you are Aman and you want to invest that ₹1 lakh.
How will you do it? We are earning ₹1 lakh per month, not ₹1 lakh but one lump sum. You have this amount. What is your kind of running thing? Meaning, is something coming monthly too? No. No, this is ₹1, you have ₹1 lakh. All you have to do is invest it. Yes. But what is the purpose of investing ? You understood this, right?
Look at your purpose of becoming rich. There is a very long way to become rich. See, you cannot become rich with ₹1 lakh. You take care of this. You will also have to work with him. True. Ok? And then it is like ₹1 lakh. ₹1 lakh is fine. ₹1 lakh, I will buy an index. Meaning I will buy any mutual fund that I understand.
Hum I Will Not Straight by Into Stucks. Ok. When particularly I am Aman and I don't know anything then I will first go and buy mutual funds. Well run mutual funds, I will do whatever my advisor says. Ok? So now it has become my source of earning 121%. Ok? So it will slowly double every 5 years. But in 5 years one lakh will become two lakhs, so what is going to happen to me?
Isn't it? So for that I will do another thing that brother, what is my salary? If you consider my salary to be ₹6 lakh per month. So I see that I am single right now. I am staying at home with my parents and eating and drinking. So I will try to I will I will have a nice life. I will spend only 50%.
So I will spend 3 lakhs out of 6 lakhs. But I will invest Rs 3 lakh more in the same mutual fund. If I add another ₹1 lakh on top of ₹1 lakh, it will become ₹4 lakh. Ok. So what happened in Year One? I will earn Rs 15,000 on top of Rs 1 lakh and I added another Rs 3 lakh. So how much is it? It became 415,000.
What will happen to him next year? 15 lakhs will come back. So my 415,000 will become 6 lakhs. And I will add another 3 lakhs on top of that. So it will become 639 lakhs. Then what will I do the next year? If I get ₹ lakh back on top of ₹ lakh, it will become 12 lakh and I will get appreciation at 15% to 1.5% on ₹ 9 lakh, that will become around 13-14 lakh, gradually within 10 years, I think if my salary also increases like this, my salary will not be 3 lakh at all, I am spending three out of six, but when my salary will be 10 lakh, then also I will spend 34 lakh, so I will invest 6 lakh 7 lakh in it, so gradually that compound machine keeps on increasing and in 10, 15, 20 years I will have 10 crores.
You should live your life basically without compromising, yes you should invest and compounding is very important, you must see that, you must live your life, that is why I tell the young guys, you all get 20-25 lakhs here in the beginning, you do not blow it, do not save much because you are going to make so much money that you do not realise or because if you are starting with 20 lakhs, ₹25 lakhs, then you are going to earn a lot of money in future, how much will you spend, you are living with your parents, transport, you are getting everything from home.
You are getting so many gifts, so do n't just spend it in your pocket, spend it happily. But keep the remaining Rs 101 lakh very carefully. That is very important. How do you make that? You try to understand compounding. People don't know compounding. How is compounding done? 1 + 3 +3 +3 and then appreciation on that.
As they watch, a huge bundle is formed. I think today's generation is also into general investment, what do you do? How do you build your wealth? I work and I invest. Isn't it ? So you do the same thing, whether you have savings of Rs 10 lakh or Rs 20 lakh. If you invest another Rs 20 lakh on top of that, 20 becomes 40.
Absolutely. It will increase 32 times in 5 years. If you keep doubling it every year. I think you have given me a good guideline. I will have to do this after going home. Yes, you try that and see how it goes. Okay done. I have observed one thing. And I think you were saying that you did n't want overnight success.
I think you are incredible for saying that because in today's time our generation has become so used to instant gratification. What is your advice for that in life as a life lesson and also when it comes to your investments. See Don't Aspire What You Don't Deserve. If you want to earn Rs 100 crore from nowhere.
Or you should have some talent to deserve it. Or you have to become Elon Musk. You have to be a disruptor. Do you have that in you? If that happens then do it, no need to think. It will bring the world from you and take you away. That is, Rs 2025 lakh which is the startup salary that good kids are getting these days.
He got Rs 2025 lakh for coming back after doing MBA from a good school. If you become a good CA, have a good chart account and pass out from a good MBA school, you can get ₹25 lakh, that's a good starting point. Now how do I build on top of that? How have I made that 25 lakhs salary Rs. 2.5 crores, how can I earn 10x in the next 5 years, for that you will have to work hard, you have to also work, let me tell you one more thing, the work that you are doing, all these people, all those who are working, they must deliver, if they are getting 25 lakhs, they must see to it that they deliver value of at least 50 lakhs or what kind of attitude is there now, I am getting 25 lakhs, hey, the person next to me is getting 50, why should I work for even 25?
This is the attitude. What is that? He is fired and then he doesn't get the job again. Or That's How They Spoil the Career. You work double. When I was there, I used to get a salary of ₹3000 in 86. We are worth 3000. Ok? ₹36,000 per year. We used to open the office at 10 o'clock. And I used to work 12 hours and shut the office at 10-10:30 in the night and then come all the way from Narman Point to Andheri.
By train that's how that's what I did for two years and that's what I am enjoying that only right now or what is it in the young age, those whose fathers are very big, it is a different matter for them but for us normal people who are rising from the top, coming from the bottom, have got good education because of our parents, then all these values are very important for them or if you are getting a salary of ₹1 lakh or ₹1 lakh you must deliver to three four x your boss should completely be sold out, this guy is mad, what is he doing?
Or Nobody Can Stop You If You Have That Attitude. Or I think the biggest takeaway for me right now is that investing is one thing, but early on in life, nothing can replace your hard work. Like hard work has to be done smartly. Hard work means where you enjoy. Like I'm doing 10 to 10. I feel like I worked for 12 hours.
I don't know for how many days I have not had lunch. Or because I was enjoying what I was doing. Or so if you are aligned in whatever you are doing it's fun it's a research you know you are going because they pay ₹36000 what they pay in fact they paid me to learn I learn everything and yet he paid me ₹3000 or so he took care of me financially and I learn everything or so what can be a better deal than this?
So for all the viewers who are watching this podcast. A lot of them are going to be young investors who have entered the market. Who have started their careers. What's your one message for them? No They Have to Work Very Hard to Understand the Value. As I said, everyone knows the price. No one knows the value.
We try to understand the value in our own way. You guys are internet and computer literate. Hum You Can Read Anywhere. You can reach anywhere. We ah but the process of understanding the value business by business, you will have to work hard on that. Or no matter how much AIA There Is No Shortcut to Understanding the Value of a Company.
Or you will have to bring that discipline. This should also happen. You should also have patience that you will learn it and learn it well and attentively. And you will know whether you learn or not. And you can keep checking your performance. So you think by reading all this this stock looks to be cheap to me or go and by two months you will know whether you are on the right track or wrong track and you will also know if you are on the right track of course you are on the right track but if you are on the wrong track you will know why you are wrong and that is the biggest learning in investing and like this you will make 10-15 mistakes and you are through.
Sir, we talked a lot about your journey. We talked a lot about your past, but you know what they say in finance that past performance is not indicative of future returns. So what's next for Raamdev Agarwal? What does the future hold for you? It's more of the same for me on the investing side. Ok. Isn't it ?
So we will make a lot of money. And at least I will inspire you, I will work hard to make a lot more money. Hm ah but now as an I was telling in the beginning. Now I have to give back. Yeah. So we started this process of giving bag and we have placed 10% of the equity for the philanthropy. Ok. And that I have to learn.
So even there, I was in 87 in investing, hmm, in giving, I am back to the pavilion. So I think in the next five to ten years hopefully it will become good and very good. Or in giving giving back to society. Thank you so much sir. That was a brilliant conversation. And I think whatever may happen, it may not happen.
I am very inspired to pay a little more attention to my own work. And to you, I am sure you would have liked this conversation. What was your biggest takeaway? Let me know in the comments and I'll see you next Tuesday. Take care. Investment in the securities market is subject to market risk. Read all the related documents carefully before investing
