His father's death in 10th grade, a loss of lakhs in share trading, no stable income, marriage, and only a one-room house to live in. Despite all these problems, Vijay Katiya never gave up on his stock market dreams, and today his network is worth more than 8 billion rupees. Friends, in this video, we are going to explore this amazing journey of Vijay Kedia and also learn how he reached this point.
Friends, Vijay Kedia was born in a middle-class family in Kolkata. His father was a stockbroker. When Vijay Katiya was in 10th grade, his father passed away, due to which he failed in the final exam. When his school headmaster learned about his father's death, he took the exam again and passed Vijay Kedia.
Friends, after his father's death, the financial condition of Vijay Kedia's family deteriorated, and hence he decided to leave his studies and do something else. But his heart wanted him to at least complete his graduation, so he somehow completed his graduation. By the time he graduated, he was 19 years old, but his family's financial situation was still poor.
At that time, his family of six lived in a one-room apartment. Vijay Kejriyan wanted to do something to support his family, but he had no working experience, no education that could lead to a good job, and no money to start his own business. So, he decided that without any skills or education, he could only do one thing: trading in the stock market.
The rules for trading were quite different, and trading with margin required very little money. Thus, Vijay Kejriyan's journey in the stock market began. Within a year of starting trading, he made a significant profit and felt like a master of voter ID. However, Vijay Kejriyan says that thinking so was a big mistake, because his profits in trading were due not to his skills but to luck.
Within a year, his luck gave up, causing him to suffer huge losses in trading. The losses were so severe that he even had to sell his jewelry. In this incident, Vijay Kadia saw for the first time how dangerous trading could be. Around this time, Vijay Kedia got married, which also presented many difficulties, as his house consisted of only one room and he did n't even have a temporary job.
He would make profits from share trading, but when he tried to make a bigger profit by investing his profits, he would incur losses, and his previous profits would also be lost. Once, the condition of his house became such that his wife asked him to buy milk powder for his daughter, which cost 14 rupees, but Vijay Kedia didn't have even 14 rupees at the time.
However, his wife searched for coins in the house and collected 14 rupees and bought milk powder for his son. While trading, he was worried daily about whether he would be able to earn enough money to run the household. Due to this, he started supplying raw sewage to tea gardens, which started generating a small regular income.
Vijay Kedia was very fond of music and for this he bought an extremely expensive music system. But a friend convinced him that music systems are depreciating assets, and that minimal investment should be made in such assets and maximum investment in uplifting assets. Believing his friends, Vijay Katiya bought a Satsang music system and invested the remaining money in silver.
Vijay Katiya had always wanted to do something big in the stock market. To fulfill this dream, he decided to move to Mumbai, the city of the stock market. There, he asked a broker for a position on the Mumbai Stock Exchange, but the broker told him that joining the Bombay Stock Exchange was beyond his means and that he should give up his dream.
Vijay Katiya returned to Kolkata with a heavy heart and began supporting his family. Vijay did return to Kolkata, but his passion for the stock market remained unchanged. After a few years, he planned to move back to Mumbai and, through a friend, secured a position on the Bombay Stock Exchange. He lived in the Malad area of Mumbai at the time, and to reach the Bombay Stock Exchange, he had to travel by train from Mala to Churchgate.
He spent only three days doing this. When he became extremely upset with the crowds on Mumbai's local trains, he got off the train and returned to Malad. He did n't want to travel by train every day in such a crowded manner. Seeing no solution to this problem, he returned to Kolkata. Friends, Vijay is not one of those people who accept their circumstances as their fate; rather, he is one of those who make their own fortunes through their hard work.
After six months, he decided that no matter what happens, he will live and die in Mumbai. He returned to Mumbai and found cheap and old houses to live in. He had to change his place of residence several times, but he stayed in Mumbai because he had ruined his own decision to go back to Kolkata. It was in the stock market that he came across Vijay Kedia.
He bought Punjab Tractor shares worth Rs 35,000 from Kolkata, which increased fivefold in Wednesday's run. He sold these shares and bought SSC shares, which increased 10-fold in one year. This was Vijay Kedia 's first big success in the stock market. He sold SSC shares and moved to Mumbai. He bought a 375-square-foot, one-BHK flat and moved his entire family from Kolkata to Mumbai.
However, as happens after every bull market, the stock market crashed badly, and Vijay Kedia suffered significant losses. He barely managed to save his house and some money. Due to repeated large losses, Vijay Kedia lost confidence in trading. He began focusing on long-term investing. Meanwhile, a friend invited him to Germany to start a business.
He went to Germany and stayed there for 16 months, but his business didn't do well there either. Frequent travel to and from Germany cost a lot of money, and by the end of the 16 months, his entire savings were exhausted. Meanwhile, while traveling from Mumbai to Germany, he felt suffocated as soon as he boarded the flight.
He got off the plane and returned home. The following year, he remained confined to his home and watched the market. Friends, this was the time when the bull market of 2002 and 2003 was starting. Vijay Kedia had some shares, which he sold and invested in three companies. The prices of these three companies, Auto Aegis and Shera Sanitary Ware, increased 100-fold over the next 10 years, and after that, Vijay Kedia became a very successful investor.
Friends, amidst all this, in 2009, Vijay Kedia got the opportunity to buy a milk company that made powdered milk. He bought the company and gifted it to his wife, saying that this gift was for the day when he could n't even pay ₹14 for the powder. Then he got the opportunity to buy a tea plantation, and he discovered that this was the same tea plantation where he used to supply raw sewage to earn some money.
He also bought the tea house. Others say that his first, second, and third love is the stock market. That's why he stayed in the stock market despite repeated failures, and continued to learn and understand it thoroughly for years. His hard work has made him such a big investor today.
