This time, I would like to share stories about gold and silver investments recommended by Jim Rogers. Basically, as Jim, I am not an investor who actively recommends gold investment. Back in 2011, when the price of gold soared to $1,900 per ounce, I showed a skeptical reaction to gold investment, saying that the price had risen too much.
Ah, there was a time like that. While reading the book *Three Cards*, I discovered a very interesting passage. Around 2015, he met with a source who had gone to his house. Among the conversations the two had at that time, there was a dialogue like this: Gentry Card asked him sternly, "Are you not going to invest in gold?" At that time, in 2011, the price had peaked at $1,900 per ounce, but by around 2015, it had dropped to $300 to $1,200.
So, now James is going home... He likely asked Source out of curiosity, asking, "Since the price of gold has dropped significantly, you won't buy gold, right?" and Source replied, "I will buy gold if it drops by 50%." 50%—that means compared to the purchase price. It had risen tremendously from the peak.
So, when James calculated it at the time, it was roughly $1,050— half of its value. So, James probably said, "If the price of gold falls to $1,100, which is used as a house, he will buy it." It was likely January 2016, or late 2015—the price did drop to $1,100. We can speculate that he might have bought up some distressed properties used as houses at that time.
However, what is even more interesting is that he is a representative investment guru who says that investing in silver is better than investing in gold used as a house. The reason silver is better than gold is... People say it is because the price is relatively lower than gold. However, if you take a close look at Jim Nooss's investment principles, they are surprisingly simple and concise.
That is why I find Roth's book on investment principles quite appealing. Even when reading his book, he doesn't discuss things in a complicated way. He speaks very simply and straightforwardly; his personality is refreshing. He talks very honestly about where he invests, saying things like, " I hold such-and-such stock," "I hold a TF," or " I am going to short-sell such-and-such." I calculate that it is highly likely that Jim Nooss would have strongly invested in silver around the end of 2015, when the price hit its lowest point, and around the beginning of 2016, when it hit bottom and started to rise slightly.
If you look at the graph, you can clearly see that the silver price graph, which resembles the gold-grab couple, shows that the price has definitely risen. Recently, international silver prices have been fluctuating. However, they showed a slight downward trend over the past few days. So, for those who feel a bit burdened by the prospect of making a quick sale investment...
For those who find investing in gold a bit burdensome due to price considerations or the recent surge in gold prices, I recommend considering silver. I suggest investing in physical silver. While ETFs are also acceptable, hands-on experience is generally better. Many investors are currently recommending hands-on investment.
By the way, did you know that Warren Buffett, George S.O.S., and even Bill Gates once invested in silver and struck it rich? It is said that there was a time when even Warren Buffett made massive profits by investing in silver. You can clearly see this if you look at the graph from 10 years ago. Also, one thing we must remember when investing in silver is that the demand for industrial goods is much greater than the demand for precious metals.
Therefore, with the recent development of various high-tech industries, the demand for silver has been increasing explosively. Currently, the global demand for silver exceeds the supply; in other words, supply cannot keep up with demand. It is said that the situation is such that it is impossible. Therefore, if we invest in silver at the current price level, we can anticipate that we might once again enjoy an explosive upward trend in the future.
It seems that Jim Rogers is suggesting that we invest in silver rather than gold by combining all these various factors. However, that does not mean we should be gloomy about investing in gold. This is a time when numerous investment masters are recommending gold investment. Investors like James Rickas, Braided Alio, and Logo finally 4 recommend holding physical gold.
Please keep in mind the fact that gold or silver will play a significant role as insurance regardless of the situation—whether inflation, deflation, a recession, or even a depression—and use this as a reference for your investments.
