After listening to the story of Ramdev Agarwal, you will feel that dreams really do come true. This journey from a farmer 's son to the owner of assets worth Rs 14,000 crore is one that inspires every investor. Today we will know how Ramdev Agarwal achieved the position of becoming one of the most successful investors in India through his hard work, intelligence and patience.

Born on 5 April 1957 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, into a middle-class Marwari family, Ramdev Agarwal had a very ordinary childhood. His father was a farmer and as he himself says, his father's only investment strategy was to invest money in his children. This may seem strange in today's era, but this was the thinking at that time.

Ramdev 's ancestors were from Rajasthan and there was no special tradition of business in the family. But as Ramdev grew up, he developed a desire to do something different. Ramdev came to Mumbai for his studies. Here he studied Chartered Accountancy and this was the place where he met Motilal Oswal.

Both lived in the same hostel and according to Motilal, Ramdev was a very bookish person who was always busy reading company reports and balance sheets. Perhaps this is where his interest in financial markets began. In 1987, Ramdev and Motilal together entered the stock market. He became a sub-broker in BSE and this was the time when trading was still done through the open outcry system.

People would stand in a hall and shout orders. Ramdev's beginnings began when his brother Sukhdev gave him ₹4 lakh of his savings and asked him to invest it in the stock market instead of keeping it in a savings account. This is where Ramdev 's investment journey began. By 1990, he had built a portfolio of Rs 10 to 15 lakh.

Then came the bull run of 1990 which was associated with the Harshad Mehta group. During this period, Ramdev's portfolio reached Rs 30 crore. But when the scam was exposed, it came back to Rs 10 crore. This was a big shock. But Ramdev did not give up. After this loss, Ramdev seriously reconsidered his investment strategy.

He went to America in 1994. Bergsch attended Hathoy's shareholders' meeting and met his idol, Warren Buffett. This meeting proved to be the turning point of his life. There he read all the letters of Warren Buffett and understood that there is a difference between quality and quantity. After returning from America, Ramdev changed his approach.

At that time, he had 225 stocks in his portfolio which he reduced to just 15 stocks. This was his focused approach. With this strategy, his portfolio reached Rs 100 crore by the year 2000. Today, according to Forbes, his net worth is 1.7 billion i.e. approximately Rs 14,000 crore. It is important to mention some special investments in the success story of Ramdev Agarwal.

In 1995, he bought Hero Honda shares for ₹30 and held them for 20 years. When he sold them for ₹2600, it became one of his most epic investments. He also received a dividend of ₹3 to ₹4 crore annually from this investment. Similarly, he invested in Infosys in the mid-90s and got 12 times returns. But Ramdev Agarwal's story is not just about making money.

His son Vaibhav was kidnapped in 2005. When he was preparing for IIT in Kota. The kidnappers had demanded ₹3 crore. It was a very difficult time for the family. But with the help of police, Vaibhav was safely rescued. This incident shows that success also comes with challenges. Today, Raamdeo Agrawal is known for his KGLP investment philosophy.

KGLP stands for Quality, Growth, Longevity and Price. He has created this framework after 30 years of market experience. In this he says that before investing in any company it is important to look at these four factors. Quality includes two things. Quality of business and quality of management. If any of these is zero then the result will also be zero.

Growth refers to whether a company can increase its revenue and profits over a long period of time. Longevity looks at how long this growth is sustainable and price means whether you are buying at a reasonable valuation. Ramdev Agarwal believes that patience is the most important thing in investing.

He says that if you invest ₹10,000 monthly and get 25% annual return, you can have crores of rupees in 25 years. This is the power of compounding which he calls the eighth wonder of the world. Warren Buffett has a great influence on his investment philosophy. He says buy right so tight, that is, choose the right company and then be patient.

There are ups and downs in the market. But if you have invested in a quality company then you will get good returns in the long term. Every year, Raamdeo Agrawal brings out the Motilal Oswal Wealth Creation Study, which is one of the most widely read investment reports in India. In this study, they identify companies that are consistently creating wealth.

This study dates back to 1996 and remains a valuable resource for investors. Ramdev Agarwal's advice to today's youth is to avoid instant gratification. They say wealth creation is a marathon. Not a sprint. If you are young then you have the advantage of time. Use this time properly. Invest in quality companies and be patient.

The story of Ramdev Agarwal teaches that success does not come overnight. He has also seen failures. I have suffered losses but did not give up. He learned from his mistakes, improved his strategy, and consistently focused on his goals. Today he is not only a successful investor but also an inspiration for thousands of people.

His journey shows that if you have dedication, a desire to learn, and a long-term vision, you too can achieve financial freedom. Ramdev Agarwal 's message is that investing is not just a means of earning money but it is an art that can change your life.
