Hello friends, how are you all? I hope you are reading something new and learning something new. Friends, our book today is called The Little Book of the Stealth Bits of the Market and it is written by Joel Green Black. Friends, the author has written this book for his children. He wanted to teach his children financial education.
He wanted to teach his children how the stock market works and how to invest their money in good companies in the stock market and there is a good creation there. If you also want to learn how to make your best by investing in the stock market and how to select good companies, then this video is going to be very interesting for you.
Friends, and here a very unique story is shared and it is said that his son and sister, who are studying in class six, have a friend who sends chewing gum. He takes a packet of chewing gum from the shop and he has to buy the packet for 25 cents and he saves him 1.25 download, that is, he gets five domestic products which are inside the packet.
He sends 25 cents for one mist, so in this way he sends the entire packet for 1.25, so his profit on one packet is $1, so in this way he sends 100 packets in a day and his profit is 100 dollars. Now here the author gets a very new idea, he says that he wanted his son to learn something from this story, so he asked his son, son, tell me how much profit Jason makes in a day, his son replies that he makes $4, he then asks him how much he makes in a week, he replies that he makes $20, then he asks how much he will earn in a month, he says that by selling at $4 in this way, he will earn $80 in a month and in this way, how much will he earn in a year, in a year he gets the answer that the average school time is 36 weeks and in this His earnings will be ₹720.
Jason has 6 years left to graduate, so in this way, whatever he earns after 6 years will be ₹4000. He tells his son that if you get a chance to invest in a company like this and want to sell your 50% ownership to you, would you like to invest in it? If you want to, then how much money would you like to invest in it?
His son does the calculations, but after doing many calculations, he does not reach a fixed figure as to how much money he should basically deposit. So the author says to him, mother, if you get a chance to invest $2000 in Jason's business, would you like to invest in it? He tells his grandfather that this is a big deal because I will make the payment now and then I will have to wait for 5 years for its profit and I will get its recovery after 5 years, so this is not a good option for me.
Then the author asks his son. Let's say, what if you were to invest $1 in your business? Here, his son tells him that it's not a big deal, it's a good deal, but maybe some fool will sell his business for so little. So, if he tells his son, "This is what I do: when companies are trading much below their actual price, I buy them, and that creates good wealth.
Because we should buy businesses when they are available much below their actual price." So, basically, the author is giving this lesson to his son: you should invest in a business that is good and is available at a much lower price than its actual price. Talking about savings, you should save your money instead of overspending, so that you can invest whatever money you can.
If you don't save money, you wo n't be able to invest it. So, now when you want to save, where will you save? And they say, to save, your money is yours. There are three options available to you. The first option is that you can either keep your money under your pillow or keep it in a good lock. The disadvantage of doing this is that even after 5 years from now, that money will remain the same as it is today.
If you put ₹500 in a piggy bank today, then even after 5 years it will remain ₹500, it will not increase. This is a problem with that money and the fear of inflation is continuously increasing, so in this way the value of money is decreasing. However, the second option you have is to keep your money in the bank.
You know that if you have your money in a savings account in the bank, then you are getting a hard 3% or 3.5% interest in a year and if you invest in FDS, then in FDS you know that you get a rare return of around 5%-6% and if we talk about inflation then around 7% Inflation rates are high in India, so consider whether the value of your money is rising or falling.
The third option you have is to invest in shares or bonds. Shares means that when you invest in a company's business, it is called investing in shares, and bonds means you can invest in the bonds of a big company. What a bond means is that you are basically lending money to the company, so support it.
If you invest your money in a company's bonds and expect a 10% return, it's a good option. But the problem with the company is that if that company doesn't perform well in the next 10 years, your principal will also be at risk. For this type of investment, you can invest in government-backed bonds, where you'll get a lower return, along with a 6% or 8% return, but your money is almost safe.
So, the second way is to invest in a business and basically invest in shares. You select good companies, find shares in good companies, and invest in those companies. Stay with them for a long time, and from there, you can provide good healthcare. Now, let's talk about what a share is. Let's go back to Jason's story.
Jason wants to open more stores under the name Jason Loom Stores. He needs money for that. He needs 60 lakh rupees. He wants to sell 50% ownership so that he can get 60 lakh rupees and invest it in his business. When he comes to you for 60 lakh rupees, you may not have enough money to invest ₹7 lakh in his business.
So, if he is a businessman, he comes to you with an ID. He divides his company into shares. So, what he does is he issues 50 lakh shares of his company. Out of that, you keep 25 lakh shares for yourself and he issues 25 lakh shares to the public so that other people can also want it. So invest in his business, now suppose the price of one share is ₹10, the price of the share should be kept at ₹10.
In this way, suppose you bought ₹50,000 shares at ₹10, so your total amount invested is ₹5 lakh. In this way, you can invest in his business by paying ₹5 lakh. Now let us understand how much profit you will get on this 5 lakh. To know this, we will have to look at the last year's performance of the company, how did the company perform last year.
Now suppose the company had sales of ₹1 crore last year and out of that, ₹40 lakh is all the expenses of the company, including taxes, and all other expenses which are necessary for running the business. After deducting all these, the net profit of the company is ₹ 60 lakh. So, we will divide ₹60 lakh by the total number of shares of the company.
This was 50 lakh. We divided 60 lakh. What we get from 50 lakh shares is 1.20 i.e. ₹120 paise. Now suppose the price of one share of yours was ₹10 and if we add ₹120 paise to ₹10, then the price of the company's share becomes ₹11.20 paise and the shares of the company that you have are 50000 shares, so you had invested ₹5 lakh and its value to you is ₹ 560000, so the profit you made is ₹60000.
Here you made a profit. Now it is not necessary that the company repeats the same performance every year. It is possible that the company may perform better next year and it is possible that the company may perform worse next year. Let us talk about how to find shares of good companies. For this, the author tells a formula here which is called the magic formula.
It is said that you must keep two things in mind about a company. Earnings and secondly, return on capital. We have a lot of data available online. You can buy a scanner, you can buy a ticket tape, from websites all over the world which provide you all these things. Now let's talk about earnings. First of all, earnings tell whether the company is available cheaply or expensively, and return on capital tells whether the company is good or not.
When we talk about earnings, to calculate earnings, we have to divide the earnings per share by the current market price, that is, the current market price of the company, which is ₹120 paise, i.e. 1.20. So, if we divide it by the current market price of the company, which is 12, then it means 10%. The earning value of the company is 10%.
In this way, if we talk about return and capital, then suppose you had invested ₹1 lakh and you made a profit of ₹20,000, then your return on capital is 20% of the company. In this way, you have to find a good company. Yes, the one which has a good return on capital and a good earning yield, so in this way, a good company which you are getting at a low price, a good company plus a low price, then you basically make good money in the long term by finding a good company in the market.
Now for this, the author says that you will have to make a table, basically in which A B C D I F Yes, yes, companies which are listed in the stock market, you should make a list of them and the first thing you should do is rank them on the basis of return on capital, for example, the company which has the best return on capital, the one with the highest, should be placed first, then the one with less than that, should be placed second, the one with less than that, should be placed third, the one with the highest will be placed at the bottom, in this rank, then you have to make a rank of earning yield, the one with the highest earning yield will be placed at the top, the one with less than that, and in this way, the one with the worst earning yield will be placed at the bottom.
When you create both the lists, then you have to compare these two lists and what you have to do is merge these two lists. So basically, what you will do here is Aarushi's rank table. You will put the rank of your return and capital of all and after that what you have to do is to see that company, suppose that company was at number one in return on capital, then where is it in earning yield and for example, if we take the return of a company, company A was at number one in return and capital but in earning yield, that company was at number 1503, so now the combined rank of both will be 1504, similarly the rank of return on capital of company B is two while its earning is 35, so the combined rank of both has become 37, if we are looking here in this way that company A was at number five in Aarushi's rank and in earning rank it was at number 13, so the combined rank of both is 18, so in this way we have seen it and if we talk about the worst company in a small chart, then if we see company Yes, it is at number eight in the chart and at number 512 in earning, so the rank of the company The rank is 520, so in this way when you have a charge, then you have to select the top 30 companies.
When you have this rank, then you will short this rank and you have to invest your money in the top 20 or top 30 companies and you have to stay in those companies for the long term. If you want to generate good money from the market, then you should not do this that you select them all at once and invest money in all the companies at once.
What you have to do is once you did this chart, then you saw two-three companies from there, you took out four-five companies in a month, then you repeated this process, then you repeated this process. You should not sell the selected stock before 1 year. You have to do this regularly. So in this way you will see that a time will come when you will have 30 companies here which will be the top companies.
In this, you keep those companies whose market cap is more. If you look at it this way, your money will be diversified. Your money will be invested in many companies. In this company, you have to create a portfolio of 25-30 companies, which will generate very good returns in the long term. If we talk about this magic formula, then from 1988 to 2004, it has given an average return of 33%.
If we talk about the market, then the market has given a return of 14 to 15% during that period. So you can imagine yourself how effective this formula is. You can also very easily select a good company on the basis of earnings yield and return on capital and invest your money in it. Friends, in this video you learned how you can also keep some basic things in mind and select the stock of a good company and invest your money in it.
