I am here to talk about how the world's going to transform during the next 5 to 10 years and how much more rapidly we will see real GDP grow and how low inflation's going to be and why. So, here we go. Here is a timeline of innovation. And you can see it goes into the 1700s. And what you're seeing here is the impact of innovation on productivity.
And you can see in this time we've had two great eras. The first one was in the late 1800s, early 1900s. Telephone, electricity, internal combustion engine. Huge boost in GDP growth. And in fact, prior to that, for the 400 years prior to that, real GDP growth had been averaging about 0.6% per year. Very slow.
After that, we went into a 125-year period of 3% real GDP growth. So, a fivefold increase from 0.6 to 3%. You have to move forward to today to see multiple innovation platforms evolving at the same time. So, for the first time in 125 years, this time there are five platforms, not three major platforms, and they involve 15 different technologies.
This is very important in terms of how to research and analyze the world. It's not going to be by sector or industry anymore. It is going to be by technology because technology is permeating every sector, every industry, and blurring the lines between them. We believe that the productivity uplift here is going to be so strong during the next 5 to 10 years, and I think President Trump's tax package is going to turbocharge this.
That real GDP growth will accelerate from that 3% where it has been for the last 125 years, towards 7% plus. And we think that could be conservative. So, get ready, but the other thing that we think is going to happen is that inflation is going to surprise significantly on the low side of expectations.
We would not be surprised to see 0% inflation or less as we exit the tariffs here and the way they're getting through the indexes and move forward into this new age of technological explosion. One of the reasons for this explosion is not just the five platforms. So, I should have named them, robotics,
Where will Tesla be in 1 year? If you think the past year was interesting, the year ahead can come with even more twists and surprises. Despite posting its first set of declining revenue in 2025, Tesla stock is beating the market over the past year. Analyst price targets are all over the map with one bearish seeing Tesla stock 70% downside from current levels, which I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen.
And a lot is riding on the rollout of robotics and robotaxi, but betting against Elon Musk has proven to be historically very dangerous. A lot can happen in a year to any stock, but that seems to be the factory default setting when it comes to Tesla. And before sizing up how high or how low shares of Tesla can go in the coming year, let's look at back at the past year.
Go back a year to mid-Feb of last year, and all of these things were true. Through almost two decades of operations, Tesla had never posted an annual decline in revenue. The business would deliver a 3% dip on the top line for 2025. The Model S and Model X were a small but important part of the business.
Both high-end models are now being discontinued, paving the way for the production of humanoid robots. Elon Musk was an off President Donald Trump's top advisor, heading a newly created department for cost-cutting. Elon Musk left the administration in May. Two months later, a Trump bill would end the $7,500 tax credit for most domestic electric vehicles purchased by the end of the third quarter.
Full self-driving could be purchased for a one-time payment. Tesla's autonomous driving feature becomes available only as a monthly subscription to new members as of this past weekend. The Cybertruck was still turning heads, but by the end of 2025, the next-generation pickup, along with the soon-to-be discontinued Model S and Model X lines, accounted for just 3% of the vehicles delivered in the last year.
So, if you look at that, it might make sense for Tesla to discontinue those models. The problem here for everyone is it seems a step back from the electric vehicle business. And now, talking about 2026, now for the plot twist, despite seeing its automotive revenue plummet by 10% in 2025, along with 60% plunge for the reported income, Tesla's stock is actually trading 16% higher over the past year.
Yes, Tesla stock is beating the market over the past year. Can Tesla keep the upticks going this year? Analysts are understandably all over the map. Price targets are as low as 125 and as high as $600 for the share, implying 70% downside on the bearish and a 46% upside on the bullish front. The mean price target is 421, a mere 3% increase, and it would be shocking if Tesla simply marched in place in the coming year.
And here you can see why we think we're going to see explosive growth. It is the convergence between and among these technologies. So, just to give you two examples of convergence. In the autonomous mobility space, that is the convergence of robotics, energy storage, and artificial intelligence. Each one of those technologies or platforms is following its own S-curve.
And we are moving into the sweet spot of the S-curve now that autonomous taxis are debuting in the case of Tesla in Austin and San Francisco. Waymo's been there for a while. One S-curve feeding another S-curve feeding another S-curve. Another example is in the healthcare space. While the autonomous mobility space might be the biggest revenue generator in the short term, we believe that the most profound application of AI is in healthcare.
And that's the convergence of sequencing technologies and artificial intelligence and technologies like CRISPR gene editing. It's the most inefficiently priced part of the market. Here is what we think is going to happen to the equity market in terms of valuations. So, you can see in the turquoise there, that's the Mag 6.
The Mag 6 used to be called the Mag 7, but they threw Tesla out when it wasn't behaving like the rest of the Mag 6. So, you can see from 2019 to 2024, the Mag 6 tripled. They tripled in valuation and the cap. Whereas, truly disruptive innovation in the purple at the bottom there went up only 30% and that's because investors were playing it safe and they were investing only in the largest, most cash-rich stocks in the market.
You can see what we expect to happen between, well, really, the next 5 years. The MAG 6, some of them will do well, some are facing headwinds Apples in the AI space are well documented and now we think it is truly disruptive innovations time to shine in the market with the election of Donald Trump. That's when truly disruptive innovation started to shine and the stock market started to broaden out from the very concentrated MAG 6 strategies into much more widespread disruptive innovation.
In other words, risk appetite and time horizon is starting to extend here and I think the tax package, especially the corporate tax cuts, which most people haven't focused on, full depreciation of structures first year they're put in service, full expensing of equipment, R&D domestic and software in year one.
These are huge huge incentives to invest now and I think that's exactly what's going to happen. Now, we did this chart at the end of last year. During the next 5 years to deliver a compound annual rate of return of roughly 50%. Now, we've had some of that, so maybe it's 40 to 45% compound annual rate of change and this is in the public equity world.
In the private world, just wait until you see. And lost in the slump in car sales, Tesla's revenue declined only 3% in 2025 despite the double-digit slide on the automotive side. Thanks to strength elsewhere, energy generation and storage revenue went up 25% last year. Services and other revenues climbed 18%.
New offerings are in the works. The Cybertruck will kick off production in April, ending the Model S and Model Y production at its Fremont facility next quarter. We'll transition to the production of Optimus humanoid robots. And despite the end of tax credits and deteriorating sentiment towards electric vehicles, analysts expect Tesla's revenue to grow by 9% in the in 2026.
It will find Tesla cracking the $100 billion in annual sales ceiling for the first time. Profitability will grow even faster, widening margins at a time of major production rollout. Tesla has always been overvalued as a car maker, but it's a different story if the year ahead is about robotics, FSD breakthroughs, and other high-margin opportunities.
The stock will be volatile this year, but as in the past year, Tesla is always full of surprises. Tesla's China-manufactured EVs saw record levels of sales with a surge of 91% in Feb. Sales of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles manufactured in the Shanghai plant recorded sales in China and Europe. A total of 58,600 units were sold last month, up 91% from last year.
It also saw an increase of 9.3% from Jan with robust sales this year. Tesla stock is now on the radar as it experienced a major slump in EV sales last year. So, will the rise in sales benefit Tesla stock? Tesla stock opened on Wednesday at $400 and remains on the red side of the spectrum. The lackluster performance comes after the car maker saw a 15.2% dip in sales in 2025.
The company also faced challenges with Feb deliveries last year due to the fluctuations in shifting the Lunar New Year times, which resulted in a partial assembly line suspension. A series of events also led to a slowdown in production. Now, that's a thing of the past and Tesla's China-made EV cars have sold the most this year.
Tesla stock could pick up steam from the boost in revenue and investment research firm recently revised Tesla's price prospects with a bullish prediction. This makes the stock a must-watch as the chances of an uptick remain high. Tesla's 91% rise in sales is impressive despite the cutthroat competition in the EV sector.
And according to the price prediction, Tesla stock could reach a high of $600 next. Now, that is everyone's target. That's an uptick and return on investment of close to 50% from its current price. An investment of $1,000 could turn into $1,500 if the price prediction from Zach Research Investment Analysis turns out to be accurate.
However, on the downside, the firm has given a doomsday prediction of $125 if the market experiences a crash. So, that's it guys from me, Astoria. Thank you so much for watching. Please subscribe and do hit the like button. It really helps.
