Vijay Kedia was born in a middle-class family in Kolkata. His father was a stockbroker and he was the family's sole income source. When Vijay Kedia was in 10th class, his father died and due to this, Vijay Kedia ultimately failed when his teacher When Vijay Kida learned about his father, he was re-examined and passed.
After his father's death, his financial situation deteriorated significantly. Vijay Kida considered dropping out of school to support his family financially. However, his mother wanted him to continue his education, so he somehow graduated. Over time, his financial situation worsened. His family of six lived in a single room.
Vijay Kida, who had no work experience, proper education, or money, decided to start a business. It was only a matter of time before margin trading became so costly that Vijay Kida's journey in the stock market began. He did very well in the early days and began to believe he was going to become a millionaire.
However, Vijay Kida says that this was a big mistake, as his profits in stock trading were not due to his skill, but due to his luck. At the same time, his luck also left him, and he faced huge losses. The losses were so severe that he even had to look at his wife's jewelry. After such losses, he felt that trading was beyond his reach.
After such losses and financial difficulties, his marriage also faced problems. However, he finally got married. The condition of his house had deteriorated to such an extent that his wife asked him for 14 rupees for milk powder for their son, and Vijay Kida did not even have 14 rupees to buy milk powder.
The situation was so bad that Vijay Kida says that while trading, he was afraid whether he would be able to run the house today. Vijay Kida decided that along with this, he would also work in a tea garden to generate a regular income. Vijay Kida says that he is very fond of music and hence he wanted to buy a music system.
At the same time, a friend of his convinced him that this is a transitory asset and we should invest as little money as possible in such assets, while we should invest as much money as possible. Heeding his friend's advice, Vijay Keeda bought a cheap music system and invested the money in silver. He always wanted to do something big in the stock market.
To fulfill this dream, he decided to go to Mumbai, the city of the stock market. He requested a broker to let him work on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The broker refused, saying it was very difficult to get into the Bombay Stock Exchange. He should give up his dream. Vijay Keeda returned to Kolkata. Friends, Vijay Keeda left Mumbai, but his passion for the stock market and his urge to do something big remained intact.
After a few years, he made a plan to return to Bombay and, through a friend, took a job on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Vijay Keeda was living with his cousin in the Malad area of Bombay. To get to the Bombay Stock Exchange, he had to travel from Malad to Churchgate. He had been on his way for only three or four days when he suffocated in the crowded Mumbai local train.
He got off the train mid-train and returned home. He went to Malad and, not wanting to be suffocated like that, did n't have enough money for a taxi, so he returned to Kolkata. Six months later, Vijay Kida returned to Mumbai and, despite facing many difficulties, never returned. Meanwhile, the 1992 bull run occurred.
Vijay Kida bought Punjab Tractors shares worth Rs 35,000 from Kolkata, which increased fivefold in the bull run. He sold them and bought shares of ACC, which increased 10-fold in a year. This was a huge success for Vijay Kida. He sold his ACC shares and bought a small one-BHK flat in Mumbai and moved his entire family from Kolkata to Mumbai.
As happens after every bull run, the market crashed badly, and Vijay Kida once again faced huge losses. Due to repeated losses in trading, Vijay Kida lost confidence in trading pressure and started learning long-term investing. Meanwhile, a friend invited him to Germany to do business there. Vijay Kida went to Germany and stayed there for 16 months, but nothing significant happened.
It was costing a lot of money to travel from Germany to India and gradually his savings were almost over. Similarly, once he was taking a flight from Mumbai to Germany. As soon as he sat in the plane, he started feeling suffocated and he left the flight and returned home. Due to his ill health, he remained confined to his home for a year and kept watching the market.
That was the time when the bull run of 2002-2003 was starting. Vijay Khedia had some shares, by selling which he invested in three companies - Atul Auto Age Logistics and Cera Sanitary Ware. The share price of these three companies increased 100 times in the next 10 years and this made Vijay Keera a very successful investor.
Vijay Keera got an opportunity to buy a milk company which made powdered milk. He bought this company and gifted it to his wife and said that the milk company was for her for the day when he could not even pay ₹14 for milk. Then he got an opportunity to do the same thing where he worked. He says that his first, second and third love is only the stock market, that is why despite failing again and again, he did not leave the stock market and kept learning it for years.
His hard work has made him such a successful Mr. Friends, this is the first part of the video. In the second part of the video, we will talk about Vijay Kida's investing strategy, which he calls Smile, and about the psychology related to Mani. You will find the link of the application in the description below.
