01. Something is about to happen to the money in your bank account , and almost no one watching this is prepared for it. I'm not talking about a recession. I'm not talking about a stock market correction. I'm talking about the value of the dollar itself, the thing you measure everything by, that is starting to come apart at the seams.

02. And here's the part that should really grab your attention. Once it starts, gold and silver will be next in line , and by the time it appears on the evening news, the move will be over and you will miss it. I spent almost 50 years in the markets. I played long positions when everyone else was afraid.

03. I played short when everyone else was greedy, and I lost more money on single bad decisions than most people will ever save in a lifetime. I'm telling you this so you understand that I'm not here to sell you fear for clicks. I'm here because I've seen this exact pattern before, more than once, and every time, the people who moved earlier were fine, and the people who were waiting for CNBC's permission were denied.

04. Before I continue, I need to ask you something . And I'll be honest about the reason. What I'm about to tell you about took me decades and several painful, expensive mistakes to really understand. Most people pay a financial advisor a percentage of their savings each year for a small fraction of this thinking.

05. And most consultants don't even anticipate this because they're not paid to look beyond the next quarter. I'm giving it to you for free right now on this channel . All I ask in return is that you subscribe before you continue watching. It doesn't cost you anything. This takes 2 seconds. And that means the next time something like this is building up, you'll see it in advance, rather than finding out from the headline when it's too late to do anything.

06. Let's start with something no one wants to say out loud, which is that a dollar isn't actually worth what you think it is worth. He is worth what the world is willing to trust. He is worth it, and trust is a much more fragile thing than a number on a screen. For 80 years, the dollar has been what all other currencies are valued by , what the price of oil is measured by , what central banks around the world keep in their vaults instead of gold.

07. Because everyone agreed, without discussing it, that America would maintain order on its property, and this agreement was never written down anywhere. It was just a guess. And such assumptions are valid only as long as the numbers underneath them make some sense. Now they don't have any. The government is running trillion- dollar deficits in years when the economy is supposedly doing well, which was almost unheard of before.

08. Previously, such deficits occurred during times of war or depression , not during what politicians call a strong economy. Interest payments on the national debt alone now consume more of the federal budget than the entire defense budget. And that's before you even consider what will happen if rates stay near their current levels for a few more years.

09. I calculated this the same way I would for any position I was going to invest real money in, and the math doesn't work. She hasn't been working for some time. What has changed is that the people who actually move the big money, the ones who manage trillions, not thousands, have also quietly stopped pretending that it works.

10. You can see it if you know where to look, and I want to show you exactly where. Because this is not a guess, it is a pattern. Central banks around the world, not hedge funds, not retail traders, but real central banks, are buying gold at a rate we haven't seen in my entire career. Not gradually. Aggressively.

11. Countries that previously held almost all of their reserves in dollars have quietly converted a significant portion of that into physical gold held in vaults, rather than some paper contract that can be settled in cash. When I first started in this business, such movements happened slowly , over years, almost imperceptibly.

12. What is happening now has been happening for several quarters. And when the biggest, most conservative, most biased buyers on the planet start moving so quickly in one direction, it's not noise. This is a message. They are telling you, without saying it outright, that they no longer want to hold their savings entirely in a currency that a separate government can print more of when it decides it is necessary.

13. They hedge risks. And if the institutions with the best information and longest time horizons in the world are hedging against the dollar, you should ask yourself why you aren't doing it. Let me give you some numbers, instead of just making a statement, because I've never trusted anyone in this business who tells you to be afraid without showing your work.

14. Interest payments on the national debt have become one of the fastest-growing items in the entire federal budget , growing faster than defense spending, faster than health care spending, faster than almost anything else you could name. And a huge chunk of that debt needs to be refinanced every year at whatever the current rate is, which means that every time rates stay high for another year, the interest bills get bigger, which means the government has to borrow even more to cover the interest on what it has already borrowed.

15. This is not a sustainable cycle. I sat across from people facing much smaller versions of the same problem at the corporate level , companies drowning in debt that had to be refinanced at rates much higher than when they first took on the task. And I can tell you exactly how this story will end if nothing changes.

16. It ends either with serious spending cuts that no one in power wants, or serious tax increases that no one wants to vote for, or the quiet option that governments have always preferred throughout history, which is simply printing more money to make the problem look smaller in nominal terms, while in fact it is getting worse in real terms.

17. This third option is the one that is ultimately always reflected in the value of the currency. There is another aspect that is not given enough attention, and that is the slow but steady move away from the dollar in global trade itself. For decades, if you wanted to buy oil in another country, you needed dollars, no exceptions.

18. This single fact created a huge built-in demand for dollars across the Earth, and it goes a long way toward explaining why America was able to run these deficits for so long without immediate consequences, because the rest of the world needed dollars, no matter how messy America's own finances looked.

19. This arrangement is no longer what it was before. More and more trade between major economies is conducted directly in other currencies, bypassing the dollar entirely, which would have been almost unthinkable a few decades ago. Each individual deal looks small on its own. Over the years, this is destroying the very built-in demand that has allowed the dollar to escape punishment that would have sunk almost any other currency.

20. When this demand is sufficiently reduced, the dollar should rely entirely on America's own finances, without the artificial support of being the only game in town. And it's at this point that these Corral deficit numbers, which just take you through, stop being background noise and start being the whole story.

21. Now this is where it gets awkward, because I know what some of you are thinking. You think this story has been going on for years. People have been calling for the collapse of the dollar since elementary school, but it never happens. So why should it be different this time ? This is a fair objection.

22. I have made the same argument to other people panicking about currencies for years, and many times I have been right to resist. But there is a difference between a currency that slowly loses value over decades, which is normal and has always happened, and a currency that loses the world's trust all at once, which is rare and happens quickly.

23. What I am describing to you is not slow bleeding . This is a condition where pressure builds up imperceptibly over a long period of time, while everything looks fine on the surface, and then it suddenly decreases over months, not years. I have watched currencies do this in other countries. I traded because of this.

24. This is not announcing itself as a press conference. It manifests as a sudden, sharp movement that catches almost everyone off guard. And by the time financial news channels cover it as sensational news, the first easy money has already been made by people who paid attention months earlier. So let's talk about why gold and silver are next.

25. Because this is where most people get it wrong. They think gold is rising because of fear, some vague sense of panic in the market. In fact, this is not true. Gold and silver rise relative to the dollar because they are the oldest , simplest form of money that no government can create with more than a click of a button.

26. When people, and I mean big institutional people with real capital, start to lose faith that a currency will hold its value, they don't just sit around with cash from another country because every major currency is now dealing with some version of the same debt problem. They are switching to something that has functioned as money for thousands of years, regardless of what government was in power or what that government's finances looked like.

27. This is gold. Silver tends to follow gold, but moves in more exaggerated swings both up and down because the silver market is smaller and has real industrial demand layered on top of monetary demand–from solar panels to electronics and a dozen other uses that are growing every year. When gold starts to move due to currency issues, silver historically doesn't just follow it, it tends to outpace gold once the move really starts because there is simply less of it available compared to how much money starts chasing it.

28. I want to be honest with you about one thing, because I think it's more important than the forecast itself. I've been wrong about the time more often than I'd like to admit publicly. Early in my career, I was convinced that a certain movement was coming, and I was right about the direction and wrong about the timing for almost 2 years, and that mistake cost me and some people who trusted me a lot of money and a lot of sleep.

29. So when I tell you something is happening, I'm not telling you that I know the exact week or the exact month when it will happen. No one knows, and anyone who tells you they know is selling you something you should be suspicious of. I'm telling you, the conditions that historically preceded such a move have come together in a way that I've only seen a handful of times in my entire career, and every time those conditions have come together in that way, the people who positioned themselves early have achieved much better results than those who waited for confirmation.

30. Even though some of them had done it before, which was uncomfortable at the time. Let's talk about what this really means for you. Sitting here, not running a hedge fund, not moving billions, just trying to protect what you worked for. The first thing I would tell you, something I wish someone had shoved in my face decades ago , rather than me learning the hard way, is that cash is not automatically safe just because the amount in your account doesn't decrease.

31. If the purchasing power of that cash imperceptibly drops, and the amount remains the same or even increases slightly from interest, you still lose. You just don't realize it until you go buy something and realize how far your money falls short. This is a trap that almost everyone falls into. They keep track of their account balance, not what that balance can actually buy.

32. Secondly, this does not mean panic and does not mean that you need to do something radical with all your savings tomorrow morning . This means understanding that having a significant portion of what you own outside of currency that the government can dilute at will is not some marginal idea for those who are willing to do so.

33. This is what serious, sober capital allocators have been quietly doing for the past few years while everyone else has been arguing about interest rate decisions. Let me tell you about a mistake I made that taught me most of what I just told you. Because I think it's more useful than any statistics. Years ago, I watched a currency that I was convinced was overvalued stay overvalued for much longer than it made any logical sense to me, and I became frustrated and gave up trading altogether, telling myself that the market was simply irrational and I was wasting my time.

34. Then, almost exactly when I gave up and moved on to other things, everything unfolded in a matter of weeks, and the move happened almost entirely without me, because I let my own impatient self convince me that being early meant being wrong. This lesson has stayed with me throughout my career. Markets and currencies, especially, can remain disconnected from reality for much longer than seems reasonable, right up to the very moment they come to a standstill.

35. And that moment rarely gives you much warning when it actually arrives. I'm saying this because I don't want you to hear everything I said tonight and expect some dramatic headline tomorrow morning. I want you to understand that things can sit quietly and build for what seems like an unreasonably long time.

36. And your task is not to predict the exact day. It's about being ready before it happens, instead of rushing to react after everyone else has already done so. I also want to address people who think this is somehow anti-American or pessimistic in and of itself , because it's neither . I made a lot of money by believing in American business , American innovation, and American workers.

37. This is not a bet against the country, it is a bet on basic arithmetic. And arithmetic doesn't care about patriotism or politics. Any country, any currency, any government throughout history that has run such a large deficit for such a long time, while its debt load has grown faster than its economy, has eventually faced serious pressure on its currency.

38. This has nothing to do with which party is in power, because both parties , to be honest with each other, have been promoting the same trajectory for decades. This is a mathematical problem, not a political one, and mathematical problems don't solve themselves just because we all wish they did n't exist.

39. Here's something else I keep thinking about, and it's this . By the time something seems obvious and safe for everyone, the transition is usually almost complete. I remember watching people rush to take positions after the transition had already happened, convinced that they were still too early. Although in reality the smart money had been quietly building up these same positions for a year or two before it hit the headlines.

40. This is exactly the stage we are in now with what I am describing. This is not the story everyone talks about at dinner. It's still something that sounds a little extreme if you talk about it in passing. That discomfort you may feel listening to this now, that little voice that says, “This sounds too dramatic to be true,” is actually a good signal that you’re hearing this at the right time, not the wrong one.

41. When something like this becomes common knowledge, it ceases to be useful information and begins to be confirmation of a move that has already been largely taken into account. So what to actually do with all this? I'm not going to stand here and tell you to liquidate everything and take a truck to buy metal, because that's not how experienced investors act prudently .

42. And I would be lying to you if I told you otherwise. What I will tell you is , understand at your own risk. Take an honest look at how much of your assets are denominated solely in dollars, sitting in accounts that are earning you less income than the actual rate at which your money is losing purchasing power.

43. Familiarize yourself with how gold and silver have historically behaved during periods of currency crisis. Not from the headline, but from a real analysis of the numbers over the decades. Think in years, not days, because the people who suffer from such moves are almost always the ones who came in late, chasing the headline, expecting the price to double overnight , rather than the ones who positioned themselves early and were patient enough to let the thesis unfold the way these things actually unfold, which is slower than you expect, to the point where it becomes faster than you can react to it .

44. One more thing that's worth saying outright, because I think it gets lost in all the noise surrounding this topic. Protecting yourself here doesn't mean becoming a different person, obsessively checking prices every hour, or living in fear of the economy. The people I've known over the years who handled the currency crisis best weren't the loudest or the most panicky .

45. They were the ones who made a sober decision early on, developed a sensible plan, and then mostly went about their lives while that plan quietly did its work in the background . The goal is not to perfectly predict every turn. The goal is to make sure that if what I'm describing tonight does indeed happen as the historical picture suggests, you won't be left wondering why no one told you, or, worse, having heard it, you'll simply refrain from doing anything because it was uncomfortable or unusual.

46. I made my share of mistakes in this matter at the time. Many of them were expensive, many of them were shy, if I 'm honest with myself. But the mistakes that have cost me the most over five decades have never been the ones where I acted a little too soon on something I believed deeply in, after the work was done.

47. These were times when I sat back, waiting for more reassurance, more validation, more comfort. And by the time I got that consolation, the movie I was watching had already happened without me . I'm not telling you this to scare you into doing something reckless. I tell you this because I truly believe that in a few years we will look back on this same period the way people look back on several other moments in financial history and ask themselves why the warning signs weren't more obvious at the time, when in fact they were right in front of anyone willing to look.

48. So, here's my challenge to you, and I say it sincerely, not as some one-time phrase at the end of a video. Don't take my word for it. I am one voice, and I have been wrong before, and I will be wrong again at some point. That's just the nature of this business. Look at the numbers yourself. See how much debt is actually outstanding and how quickly the interest on it is increasing.

49. Look at what central banks have actually done with their gold reserves over the past few years. Not what they say in polite statements, but what they actually buy. Then come back here and tell me in the comments what you found, because I read every one of them. And I would honestly rather be challenged by someone who did their homework than be agreed to by someone who did n't.

50. If this was helpful to you, don't miss it. Share this with the one person in your life who will need to hear it before it becomes obvious to everyone. Because it's usually the difference between arriving early and arriving too late. And if you haven't already , subscribe, because what I just took you through is exactly what I'll be tracking here as things unfold.

51. And I would rather you hear it from someone who has been through several of these cycles than from a headline after the fact . Take care of your money like no one else will do it for you. Because, after all, no one else will .
