01. Just imagine, if you are 19 years old, your father has passed away, the responsibility of running the family falls on your shoulders and your savings are completely wiped out twice while trading in the stock market , then what will you do? When a young man was standing on the floor of the Kolkata Stock Exchange and was rebuked by brokers calling him a pauper, he mortgaged his mother's jewellery and put in the final price.

02. But that price also fell flat. There was no money in the pocket to pay the house rent. Relatives had started taunting me and the situation was such that even talking about dreams seemed like a crime. But when the same person catches the local train from Kolkata to Mumbai and steps on the threshold of Bombay Stock Exchange, then in the next 25 years he gets his name written in golden letters in the history of the stock market.

03. Today he is called the market magician in the Indian stock market. Whose personal portfolio is more than ₹1000 crore. We are talking about Vijay Kedia and today we will learn about Vijay Kedia's life, his struggles and the money lessons he created with his famous Smile Formula that can show any ordinary investor the path to extraordinary wealth.

04. Lesson number one: the gamble of trading versus the austerity of investing. Vijay Kedia was a pure trader when he started out in Kolkata. Checking the prices in the morning, closing the deal with margin and trying to squeeze out profits by the evening. What was the result? Even after 10 years of staring at the screen day and night, all he was left with was debt and frustration.

05. He realized that trading is a game in the market where you throw the dice of your luck on someone else's money. When he came to Mumbai in 1989, he changed his entire thinking. He made a promise to himself that now I will not run after the share prices but will run after the real capabilities of the companies.

06. This is the biggest mistake most new investors make in the stock market. They keep changing stocks every week after watching tips on TV or social media and think they will become rich. Vijay Kedia's experience teaches that if you want to make real money from the market you have to shed the millennial mentality and think like a business partner.

07. Shares are not a lottery slip. That's a small part of the business that makes a living. Lesson number two is risk management and the art of surviving in the market. Vijay Kedia often repeats one of his sayings. Making money in the market is a secondary matter. First learn to save your capital. When he became poor, he understood that a person does not lose when his deal proves wrong.

08. Rather, it ends when he takes risks beyond his capacity. He decided that he would never invest by borrowing or using leverage. Even if the market drops by a whopping 50% , their family kitchen shouldn't stop. This is the most basic rule of personal finance . Unless you have an impenetrable safety net, i.e., debt- free and a solid emergency fund, venturing into risky assets is tantamount to suicide.

09. The person who saves his boat from sinking in the storm of recession is the one who takes advantage of the biggest jump in the market as soon as the sun rises the next morning. Lesson number three: The smile rule. The magic rule that transformed Vijay Kedia from an ordinary man to a billionaire. Vijay Kedia says that if you are going to invest in any company then keep these five letters etched in your mind like a stone line.

10. The first letter is S. Small in size. Small in size. If you bet on the elephant, it can give you protection. But he can never run at a speed of 100 miles like a cheetah. Companies that are already worth lakhs of crores may double your money, but they cannot give you multibagger returns. The real wealth is made in small and emerging companies that have immense potential to capture a large share of the market.

11. The second letter is M Medium in Experience. Strong in experience. Just being a small company is not enough. The management running that company should have at least 10 to 15 years of solid experience in that industry. They should be people who have seen bad times before and know how to handle business.

12. Giving money to novices is like burning money. The third letter is L large in aspiration. Big ambition: The promoters and management of the company should have the hunger to become big, i.e. fire in the belly. If the thinking of the management is limited then the company will never be able to grow big.

13. His ambition should be such that he wants to make his company the biggest leader in that sector in the country and the world. And the fourth letter is E. XL in market potential. Infinite potential in the market. The company may be small today, but the market for the sector it operates in must be huge.

14. If a small fish is swimming in a small pond, it will never grow big. But if the same fish is swimming in the deep sea then it has every chance of becoming a shark. The product should be such that its demand continues to increase for the next 20 years so that the company never faces shortage of expansion.

15. Lesson Number Four: Patience and the secret to a 2-inch jump. Vijay Kedia invested in companies like Atul Auto and Cera Sanitary Ware when no one was paying attention to them. He kept those lions with him not just for a year or two but for 10 to 15 years. He gives a famous example. The bamboo plant remains underground for the first 4 years and grows only 2 inches upwards.

16. But in the fifth year it grows to 90 feet in height within six weeks. Compounding works in a similar way. In the initial years, you will feel like nothing is happening. The portfolio is moving very slowly. People with weak hearts sell their shares here and leave. But the person who knows how to choose the right company and wait quietly , the real storm of compounding makes him a millionaire.

17. Lesson number five. Staying grounded in life and sharing knowledge. Even after amassing assets worth thousands of crores, Vijay Kedia never became arrogant. He still lives a simple life. Through poetry and songs, he teaches financial wisdom to ordinary investors and always remembers where they came from.

18. They say that with money you can buy facilities. But mental peace comes only from contentment and discipline. Vijay Kedia's life proves that no matter how poor your starting point is , no matter how many degrees you have , if you have the courage to learn from your past mistakes and stick to the discipline, the stock market can give you everything you never imagined.
