In this video today, we will learn about the investment philosophy of the Indian Biggest Bull, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala . I will discuss some important points with you. If you follow these, you too can create good wealth.
Today, India is shining and markets are going well. So it is the time to understand how to invest in a portfolio or in a trade. Rakesh Jhunjunwalla's investment philosophy tells you how to actually invest in the stock market. First, follow the 50 30 20 rule for investment, which means that 50% should be invested in diversified index funds like Nifty or S&P and 50% in index funds.
He also tells you to invest 50% in all of these like Aventi Bank Bees, Nifty Bees, Pharma Bees, ITB Bees, Gold Bees, Silver Bees . 30% in individual stocks, blue chip stocks or mid caps, 20% in high risk high reward stocks, 20% in high risk small cap or new trend stocks, but do not invest in these. The 50 30 20 rule is a type of investment philosophy, so 50% should be invested directly in index funds, 30% in top risk blue chip companies, and 20% in mid cap or small cap.
Looking further, what should we look for when investing in individual stocks? First, buy stocks with a PE ratio below the industry average. Now, the PE ratio of the stock we buy should be lower than the industry PE of that sector . What this means is that we will never buy a stock at an overpriced price.
For example, if the banking sector PE is 20, and now an individual company has a PE of 40, then we are buying an overpriced stock, so you should avoid it. If the bank index PE is 20, then we should buy only those whose individual stock's PE is less than 20. So that's the first example. The second is to never invest more than 10% in any single stock.
That means, suppose I have 5 locks, I should not hold more than 10% of the 5 locks, which is 50,000 or a maximum of 20%. Because when individual stocks become risky, the total portfolio becomes very diluted. This is a major mistake that many people make. They buy too many stocks in one company. If we have 5 stocks, we put about 3 stocks and 2 stocks.
We are buying too many stocks in the same stock. That is wrong. So, we should not invest more than a maximum of 20% in any stock. Next, we should look for sales growth of 10% or more in the fundamentals. If we choose a company, for long-term investment, that company's sales growth should be at least 10%.
Suppose a company's revenue is 100 crores, then this year it should be 110% of the compulsory tax. If we invest in such a company, it will be safe. Later, the return on investment should be above 15% . Suppose we have a company with equity of 100 crores and its profit is 20%, if we take return on investment, if we get 20% growth, it is a good investment.
At least 15% to 15% should be mandatory. Return on investment. Look at the ROE on equity investment. In any company, the ROE should be above 15 to 20%, then the dividend yield should be above 2%. This means that a company has 500 shares and a stock has given 10-year annual dividend. Now if we take this dividend yield, it will be above 2%.
So if we invest in such a company, we will get a good fair value, so look for such a company. Also, the debt to equity ratio should be below one. Debt to equity means that there should always be more assets than debts. Suppose a company has a debt of 500 crores and if it has 1000 crores of equity, then you will get 0.5% of debt to equity.
On the other hand, if there is 1500 of debt and 1000 of equity, then the risk will be 1.5%, so it seems to be a little risky. So if we learn these, the next thing is that the five-year rule should be followed compulsorily. Long-term investment means that if you tell us it is mandatory, then if we want to invest in any company, we should invest only if we think that we will invest for at least five years .
Moreover, what happens in one to two years is that the market oscillations happen, up and down, resulting in heavy losses. Suppose you invest 1 lakh in a stock and get a 15% return, then the CAGR will double in five years, which will be 2 lakhs . Otherwise, if you sell in a panic, the returns will be very low.
So, if you understand and follow these, you can develop a good portfolio and make long-term investments and gain good profits . Thank you and hello.
