India is a country where it is said that after every 100 kilometers, the local language, food and clothes change. India is the only country whose constitution recognizes 28 languages. This country with a population of over 1.4 billion has completed 76 years of independence and in these 76 years, countless famous personalities have contributed, be it our great leaders, scientists or businessmen.
But exactly one year ago, on August 14, 2022, India lost a legend who possessed all these qualities. That man was interested in inventions. He was a businessman, a movie director, had political connections. In short, he was an all-rounder. But most importantly, he was the biggest well in the deep ocean of the Indian stock market.
Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, the Big Bull of India. A man whose vision was so powerful that it could expose any scam. A man who, following in the footsteps of his guru, was able to teach the Indian economy something that many What governments failed to do was investing, and investing in India, Jhunjhunwala believed that one day the Sensex would touch 60,000 points.
He made this prediction when the Sensex was only at 1,500 points. He believed that the stock market was India's future, helping India become a world leader and helping India compete with countries like the US, China, and Russia. With this belief, he trusted India's economy and dedicated his entire life to the Indian stock market.
The story of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, who achieved just ₹5,000,000, is an example in itself, from which we can learn a lot. In today's video, we will look at some important stories from Rakesh's life and learn what he wanted to teach us through these stories. He also explained the decisions Rakesh made throughout his life that allowed him to build a fortune of ₹45,000 crores.
There are countless interesting stories from life that will help you become not only a good investor but also a good human being. Chapter One: The Nine-Year-Old Boy Who Dreams Big. Rakesh was born in 1960 in a middle-class Marwari family in Mumbai. His father was an Income Tax Officer and his mother a housewife.
Due to their middle-class mentality, his family believed that their children should pursue higher education and a professional degree and take up a safe and secure job to secure their future. Being in the Income Tax Department, his father often discussed finance and the stock market at home. Being in the finance field, his friend circle was also similar, who would always ask him questions like what the stock market is, which investment is how risky, what is the condition of which company.
That 9-year-old boy, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, used to listen to all these things quietly, standing behind the curtain. Now, Mr. Radheshyam, from a middle-class family living in an expensive city like Mumbai, Jhunjhunwala, Rakesh 's father, wanted Rakesh to study well, get a good job, and settle down to support his family.
However, as they say, a child 's future is visible in the cradle. Similarly, from the age of 9, Rakesh developed an interest in the stock market and investing, and he decided to pursue a career in the stock market. At the age of 13, Rakesh 's passion for the stock market grew even more. At an age when every child thinks about video games, movies, TV, school, and sports, Rakesh was thinking about stocks and would ask his father, " What is the stock market?
How can I learn it?" What are shares? How do I invest in them? His father began to understand that Rakesh was developing a strong interest in the stock market, but he knew that this was n't a normal real estate or bank investment; it was a stock market investment that was extremely risky. Whenever Rakesh asked questions, his father would n't answer them, but instead, he would ask him questions.
He asked Rakesh to read the business page of the newspaper and asked him what the market was and when it went up or down. Rakesh learned the answers to all his questions. He developed a habit of reading the newspaper and gradually gained confidence that he could pursue a career in the stock market. Finally, one day, he decided to tell his father about all this.
However, his father was reluctant to listen. His father knew that a career in the stock market was extremely risky. He never knew when he would make millions in profits or when he might be forced to beg on the streets. Therefore, he advised Rakesh to complete his graduation and then consider whether he wanted to pursue a career in the stock market.
Rakesh followed his father 's advice and completed his CA studies. Rakesh was always grateful for his father's decision and his guidance. He also said that people who believe that dropping out or abandoning their careers will make them successful, He becomes a CA, which is the biggest mistake of his life.
After becoming a CA, his parents thought that Rakesh would now practice or get a good job somewhere and that in all these years the ghost of stock market would have gone away from his mind, but this was not going to happen. After becoming a CA, Rakesh again proposes to his father in front of his family and this time his father gets angry with him and says to him, if you want to live, then stay in Mumbai and do whatever you want to do, I will not give you a single penny from my pocket to invest in the stock market, earn it yourself and invest it yourself.
Rakesh considers that harsh world as his biggest strength because he himself did not want to take money from his father and invest it in the stock market, so with just ₹5000000, he sets out on a journey and stands outside the BSE Sensex and starts observing people, investors, bulls, bears, everyone and invests that ₹5000000 To help Rakesh, his brother gave him two clients.
Now those clients had to trust Rakesh. He was about to believe it, but when Rakesh started explaining to him about the stock market, he felt that there was something special about this guy. In those days, the highest interest rate on fixed deposits was around 10%, and Rakesh promised his clients that he would earn them a return of 18 to 19%.
One of the clients gave Rakesh ₹1 lakh, and another gave him ₹10 lakh. Now, based on his knowledge, he was to play the first and biggest bet of his life. Between 1983 and 1985, the global tea market industry saw a huge boom. The tea market, which had cooled down all over the world, suddenly started reviving rapidly, and being the biggest supplier of tea, Indian tea companies were going to benefit a lot.
Rakesh studied the trend and invested in the most famous tea company of that time, or you can say today, whose name was Ta. With the money he received from his clients and a little investment of his own, he started Ta. He bought 5000 stocks when their price was ₹ But within just three months, the price of Tati increased from ₹ To ₹ 1.43 and his investment not only doubled but tripled.
His first investor who had given him ₹ 1 lakh says that on that day I gave Rakesh a check of ₹ 10 lakh and after 3 months, Rakesh gave me a fully filled briefcase. After this investment, Rakesh's confidence started boosting and now he was not going to stop. After this, Rakesh started coming in the notice of everyone and he started building his friend circle in the stock market.
Meanwhile, he also got many good clients and in 1987, he had earned ₹ 25 lakh and his net worth had increased to 1 crore. In 1987, i.e. at the age of 27, he married Rekha Jhunjhunwala ji and in the meantime, he made a risky investment in Sesa Goa, which you know as He bought 4 lakh shares of Vedanta Industries at a price of ₹ and his graduate worth doubled in no time.
Chapter Number Three: Some Risky Bets: By 1989, Rakesh had started ruling the stock market. The central government was headed by Prime Minister VP Singh, who was in the news a lot in those days because his Finance Minister, Mr. Madhu Dan Vote, was about to announce the financial budget, under which everyone and investors felt that this budget was going to be only for social causes and there was no benefit for businesses and investors.
Rumors started coming that many companies were going to go bankrupt, but due to these rumors, everyone started selling their shares. Rakesh says that in those days, everyone used to call him only to sell shares, but Rakesh believed that this budget was going to be business-friendly because VP Singh had been a businessman and while everyone was selling shares, Rakesh invested heavily, even at the insistence of his wife.
He did not even install an AC in his house. Its result was visible. Within the next 6 months, Rakesh ji's prediction proved correct and his wealth of Rs 2.5 crore increased to around Rs 40 crore and gradually people started believing in his investing technique. After this, in the year 2003, he invested in penny stock whose price in those days was only ₹ and Rakesh ji bought 6 crore shares of that company.
People started criticizing him for this thing, but friends, that share was none other than Titan Company share. After spending two days in Bangalore and meeting more than 27 jewelers and watch maker executives, Rakesh ji played the biggest bet of his career. He saw a long term vision in the company of a stock worth only ₹ and he felt that its Tanish and Watch Brands could bring a new revolution in India and exactly the same happened.
The price of the stock gradually increased from 10 to 100, from 100 to 500. 1000 and today's stock price of Titan Company is ₹2000000 He left home with ₹ 2500000 by investing in Titan stocks in 1985 and earned ₹2500000 and then in 1989 by investing that 25 he created wealth of ₹2 crores but Rakesh ji always used to say one thing about taking risk - you should strike a balance between taking calculated risk and preserving capital, that is a rich man can become rich only when he can take calculated risk and also preserve the money kept with him.
Now what is the problem of our youth today that they want success tomorrow, that is why they invest all their money in whatever good they hear without thinking anything. Before investing money anywhere, Rakesh ji used to analyse that company completely to know what are the opportunities in that company, who are its companies, what is its branding value, what is the world of the mouth, what is the capital and debt After looking at all these things, they used to invest in them.
So if you also have the quality of risk taking, then first of all calculate how much money you can invest where. Index funds and mutual funds can prove to be a very good investment for the initial stage, then gradually by learning you can also take calculated risks. Lesson number two: long term investing.
Rakesh ji tells in one of his interviews that once a lady came to him and asked Rakesh ji that how would these stocks be for investing. Rakesh ji advised that your money will double in three-four years with an interest of 12 to 15 percent. On this the lady was shocked that three-four years is so late, then Rakesh ji took out a slip from his pocket and wrote the address of the race course on it and said that if you want to double your money tomorrow then invest in horse races.
Madam, you have no business in the stock market. Rakesh ji says that the world's richest investor became a millionaire at the age of 40. Even on his wealth, he had a maximum term of 20 to 22 percent. Growth was achieved but our youth want to become rich tomorrow, so brother, invest money only in horse races, investing etc.
is not in your reach. To enjoy the power of compounding from stocks or index funds, you have to remain invested for the long term because compounding grows faster the more time increases. All you need is to remain fully invested with discipline, be it stocks or index funds through SIP. Lesson number three: Philanthropy and give it back.
Along with the art of acquiring, Jhunjhunwala ji also had the art of giving. It is unlikely that India will ever get a personality like him, who not only knew how to take with both hands but also knew how to earn with one hand and distribute with the other. At the age of 56, he announced that he was going to donate his 25 lakh wealth to charity.
His father always used to tell him that you are doing such work which benefits only you, so donate some part of your earnings also. Rakesh tells that His father used to force him a lot and later he realized that a patriot is one who believes in the welfare of the country along with himself and Rakesh ji used to help many education centers, health care centers, NGOs and disaster management teams a lot over the years.
Lesson number four is the tale of choice between wealth and health. Even the richest man becomes poor when he realizes that he has sacrificed his health in the pursuit of earning money. Now it is up to you which one you choose. Who does not like wealth and everything can be bought with wealth which makes you healthy but in reality it is not your money but your habits that make you healthy.
No power in the world can save you. If your habits are not good then mostly problems like heart disease, mental illness, BP and sugar are seen in rich and wealthy people due to their wrong drinking habits and on 14th August 2022, the same shocking news shook everyone. When we came to know that Rakesh Jhunjhunwala ji passed away due to a heart attack at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, Jhunjhunwala ji, known as the giant of the stock market, left us all at the age of 62, solely because of his unhealthy habits and hectic work life.
He had even told the doctors that when my last time comes, give me only 3 hours to work. By the time Rakesh ji realized this, it was too late and that is why he says never make the same mistake as me. Take care of your family and your loved ones as much as possible and give yourself true financial and mental happiness along with them.
Rakesh ji was very fond of art, culture and music along with investing. He was a humble, super intelligent and a loving personality who could take India to a different level and such a jam will hardly be seen in the future of Indian investing. At the end, I will only say this much that Varvar he is he is At a better place and it is our duty to follow his rules and principles and make India a true dream country Jai Hind and
