Hello friends, welcome back to this channel. So today we will talk about a powerful code from Peter Lynch which is If You Don't Understand Market Declines You Don't Understand Markets. That means if you do not understand the decline of the market then you do not understand the market. That's what he says.
Every trader and investor should remember this line. And that too for new traders and investors. Ok? Here market decline means market correction. That when the market goes up and then after some time it starts coming down, then it is called market correction. That means you can call it market decline.
Ok? So the market never goes up in a straight line. Sometimes it goes up, rallies a little , then comes down, then goes up again , consolidates. Ok? So this is the nature of the market and we should understand this nature. Ok? Only then will we be able to work well in the market. The problem is that as soon as the market starts falling, people start panicking and sell everything because they get scared.
Ok? Therefore, when the market starts going up, some people become overly optimistic. So this shows that people are taking the market emotionally. Do n't take it logically or practically. Ok? Now here Peter Lynch's point is clear that if you understand the decline then you understand the behavior of the market.
Ok? So what does Decline teach us? So, decline teaches us patience that if we have purchased a good stock at a good price, then we should remain patient in it. When our selling price comes, we will exit from it. Ok? Second is the concept of value, that is, we should create a position in those stocks which are good valuable, that is, those which have potential and whose fundamentals are also good.
That means they should be on our watch list. Third is market psychology that the market does not go straight up. It goes up, it comes down , there is correction and there is also consolidation. So what do we get from this because this cycle gives us an opportunity and we also get the opportunity for profit booking.
Ok ? So both these things happen. If we actually understand from this then what will happen to us is that ultimately it is beneficial. Ok? Fourthly, we come to know the difference between a strong versus a weak company, that the weak company falls a lot and the strong company does fall but very little and whenever the market becomes stable and starts going up, then it also starts going up along with it and either the company which is strong goes up very quickly.
Ok? So we get to learn all these things. So see, whatever correction happens, it gives us opportunity. Every correction gives us opportunity. But in which company? A good company which is fundamentally strong and has growth potential in the future also, that company gives us opportunity. Ok ? So decline allows us to buy quality stocks at cheaper prices and this is the real edge for the investor.
So what is the difference between a successful investor and a normal investor, the behaviour during the time of correction. So this is the difference that during the time of correction, what successful investors do and what normal investors do, that is the difference. Ok? So if we can bridge this gap, that is, if we understand what successful investors do and start doing the same, then we can become successful to a great extent.
Ok? So those who are afraid of decline miss the long term power of the market and those who accept the decline and have a logical approach, they grow slowly and steadily. So friends, next time when the market is falling, do not panic but observe and take logical decisions. Ok? So correct because what happens is that correction is a part of the game.
Right? So this is what Peter Lynch's thought teaches us a lot about: correction is a part of the game. We should understand that. We should take advantage of the opportunities that come our way. So that's all for today's video and yes, share in the comments how you handle corrections. Ok? Whatever your mindset is, please write it in the comments.
Ok? So that's all for today's video. See you in the new video. Bye bye till then.
