Would you believe me if I told you that just 5000 rupees can become 40,000 crore rupees? It may seem impossible. But someone made that possible too. In 2002, the Titan's share price was reduced to just 32 . The entire market is in panic. Big investors are running away saying they don't want this company .

But, only one person stood in front of the crowd. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. What he bought wasn't just shares. India's middle class is the future. That one bed made him the Big Bull on Dalal Street. But this victory is not for luck. There are crores of rupees of losses behind this. There are incorrect results.

There is courage to see opportunity where everyone else is afraid . This is the story of how a common man who started with just 5000 rupees became the Warren Buffett of India . Today, let 's watch the interesting journey of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala on our Paisa Store. Before going into the video, if you haven't subscribed to our channel yet, please subscribe to and hit that bell icon.

Welcome to Paisa Stories. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was born on July 5, 1960. His family hails from a region like Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan . His father, Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala, worked as an officer in the Income Tax Department . His father's friends often come to the house. Everyone would sit together and have a very serious discussion about the stock market, like which companies would go up and which would go down .

Rakesh, who was still a child at the time, would have listened to all this very quietly. One day he asked his father. Dad asked why the price of these shares was going up and down every day . His father and mother didn't give him a big theory. He said only one thing very simply . He said, "Try to understand the connection between a news story happening in the world and the price of that stock according to the Daily News ." Little did the mother and father know that this little piece of advice they had given would be the first seed planted in the thinking of India's future greatest investor .

But his father set a condition. He said that first you have to finish your studies. Rakesh also studied commerce at Sydenham College . He then completed his Chartered Accountant degree in 1985 . He doesn't think he should settle down and work at a big company right after completing his CA. His entire mind was on Dalal Street .

I'm going to invest in the market . He asked his father to give him some money . But my father refused very firmly. Do n't ask me for money. Your friends never borrowed money. He said that if you want to win in the market , try to earn your own money through your own hard work . At that time, Rakesh's total savings were only 5000 .

He entered the market in 1985 with that 5,000 rupees. At that time, the Sensex was only 150 points higher. By today's standards, that 5,000 may seem like a very small amount to us. But for him, that was his first capital. More importantly, that was his first hope. He didn't just sit idle when he arrived at the market.

He buys about 5,000 shares of Tata at a price of 43 per share . Just as he had expected, within a few months the price of that stock skyrocketed to 143 . He made a profit of about 5 lakh rupees from this trade. For a young man who started with just 5000 rupees, 5 lakh rupees is a huge turning point in life.

That trade deeply impressed upon him the truth that if we do good market research and have complete confidence in our results, we can definitely make money. But that was n't his real big win. The original story was yet to come. In the late 1980s, Rakesh took a big bet on a mining company in Sesha Goa .

At that time, the company's share price had fallen sharply . Rakesh not only had his own capital but also took out some loans and took a large position. He strongly believed that the market was underestimating the true value of the company . Meanwhile, Sesago's share price rose several times . This one investment played a huge role in his wealth creation journey.

It was here that an important secret in Jhunjhunwala's investment philosophy began to be revealed to the outside world. He doesn't just look at today's price of a stock. He asked what the true value of this company was. Then, he wondered how big this company would become if India grew economically .

This has become his greatest strength. But this money- making journey had to involve some personal sacrifices. In 1987, he married Rekha and her husband . Rekha comes from a very wealthy family background . Their house had all the amenities like AC. But Rakesh's house didn't even have an AC at that time .

Because his priorities are different. First, I want to ask you a question. He was clear that his lifestyle was not like that. A few years later, a famous incident occurred in this regard. It was the time of the 1989 federal budget. The government led by VP Singh was in power. Will this budget be favorable for business?

Will it lead the housing market to the abyss? Everyone was waiting anxiously. But Rakesh was the only one who had such confidence that the market would definitely go positive. So when everyone was scared, he took many very aggressive positions. The release of the budget is a huge positive moment in the market.

That one day, there was a huge jump in the value of his assets . After that victory, the first thing he did was buy an AC for his wife Rekha. The philosophy he told his mother was very, very simple. Invest in your desires and enjoy the profits from them. But that's the kind of thing where you don't spend your original capital for any reason .

Where did he get the courage to take such a big [musical] risk? He would meet many big players on Dalal Street and discuss many things about the market. Radhakishan Thamaniya, a salesman at the DMART company, is a great friend and elder brother to Rakesh. Manu Manek, the market's old operator, was also an important figure during that period.

Rakesh doesn't just look at the bullish side of the market . He also observed the other side from a very close distance . He also learned the art of short selling. During 1991-92, Harshad Medha's gigantic Phulran market reached its peak. But when the scam came to light in 1992, the market collapsed like a pack of cards .

Many investors ran away in fear. But Rakesh saw an opportunity even in that crash. He earned several crores of rupees through short selling. But this 92 experience completely changed his perspective. You can make some money through short-term trading . But he realized the truth that India's true wealth creation lies only in long-term investing .

Their main question has become more about which businesses are going to grow in the next 10 or 20 years than what the next market move will be. It was as a continuation of this long-term thinking that his company, Rare Enterprises, was formed over time. The name Rare is a combination of the names of two people, Rakesh and Rekha .

Through this, his main task became to find long-term opportunities in Indian companies . Now let's get back to that Titan story. The Danish brand didn't grow that much in the early 2000s. Many people doubt whether people will buy branded jewelry . But Rakesh looked beyond the balance sheet and into India's middle class .

He saw the cultural bond Indians have over gold. They predicted that over time, people would definitely move away from local stores and towards a trusted corporate brand. It was with that belief that he started buying shares. He kept buying it in the following years. At one point, his holdings rose to several crores of shares.

Let me clear up an important point here . Many people would say that Rakesh Jhunjhunwala bought Titan Shares for just ₹3. But the original price he actually bought it for was in the range of around 30 to 35 . Titan grew enormously, just as he had predicted . At the time of his death, his family owned more than 5% of Titan Company's shares.

But here we must understand a truth. Everything Big Bull touched turned to gold. He too has suffered heavy losses. When DHFL Company got into debt problems, his investment also suffered a huge loss. Similarly, he suffered huge losses in a company like Mandhana Retail Ventures. There is no need for Big Bull to be successful with every investment he makes .

There were winners and losers in his portfolio . His strategy is always simple. The market is undervaluing a company today, but it is looking to see how much it will change in the future due to India's growth. He didn't just buy shares. He bought a piece of India's growth . There is no shortage of controversies in his career .

He was accused of insider trading in Aptech shares . SEBI took action against them. Finally, in 2021, they settled with SEBI for about Rs 37 crore . We should also note that this is a settlement, not a verdict that he is guilty [of music]. Now let's come to the last but most monumental risk of his life.

That's Akasa Air. Everyone knows how difficult it is to start an airline business in India . But Rakesh's view was different. Air travel is no longer a luxury. He believed that as millions of people became middle class, they desperately needed an affordable airline . He supported Akasa Air . On August 7, 2022, Akshaya Aero's first commercial flight took to the skies from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala saw his last big business pet fly into the sky . But he passed away from this world on August 14, 2022, just a week after the flight, due to a sudden cardiac arrest . He was only 62 years old then. Just a few days ago, a man saw the last dream of his life flying through the sky. He is not there.

But the legacy he left behind will always live on in the Indian stock market . Starting with 5000 rupees, he built a fortune worth over 40,000 crores by the time of his death . The real lesson of this story is not the money. Conviction. There is a famous mantra that Rakesh often recites. Bye right, sit tight.

Buy the right one and then sit quietly. Another amazing thing he said was that the market is supreme. The stock market is bigger than any one person . Bigger than any prediction . It's much, much bigger than an investor's ego . Today, Big Bull is no longer with us. But whenever a market crashes, someone trusts their research without fear, and a young person enters the market with big dreams by investing a small amount, the story of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala is definitely a driving force.

If you believe that India will definitely grow, choose the right business and give it enough time, even a small beginning can turn into a huge success. This is the true story of The Big Bull Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. Have you invested in a company for the long term, with full confidence, like Big Bull ? Tell me the name of that Shero in the comments below.

The next story may be another interesting true story from the Indian business world. Until then, be very careful with your investments and your hard-earned money.
