피터 린치 'One Up on Wall Street' 5장 요약.

01. welcome to the channel five minutes of value my name is Brock let's get right into it today I'm going to be talking about one up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch so I really like this chapter chapter five let's go head up is this a good Market please don't ask so going over chapter five he really makes the point of not being able to predict the market and not being able to uh guess the next move I think what he wants us to really know from this chapter is to pick companies that are undervalued uh quality and maybe a little hidden from Wall Street if he wants if you want to get those 10 Baggers those big money makers um you don't have to predict the stock market to make money in stocks or or else I wouldn't have made any money as he mentioned in his book um but yeah let's go over a couple points in this book or in this chapter and then he brings up the economists in the US many of them employed fulltime trying to forecast recessions in interest rates and if they could do it successfully twice in a row they'd all be millionaires by now so I think that's a really good point it shows that there's a lot of people with different opinions going against each other and that's why we have a market that's what makes the stock market go up and down instead of just going up forever because if everyone was on the same side of the boat the boat would too and that's another point that he brings up in this chapter is basically it's called the cocktail Theory let's see cocktail Theory so basically he's at a party and in phase one he mentions that he's inequities and people kind of R him off like Dennis other professionals doctors uh whatever and then stage two I guess the Market's up a little bit so those professionals actually linger around a little bit more and ask a little more questions stage three the Market's up 30% and this is when people start asking him what stocks they should buy um themselves asking Peter Lynch for advice and then stage four I believe that's another leg higher in the market which is meaning the market went up and more and then this is where everyone is telling each other like hey buy this stock and stock every Stock's going up at that point and that's when he expects the market to Take a Tumble so when everyone's kind of on the same side of the boat it's a little fishy and I I do agree with him because I've seen it before and uh it's happened in the past so I think that was a really good um chapter to go over and summarize because it's really important being an investor and kind of gauging where people are at when you ask normal people about the stock market they're not really interested but say if it's at alltime highs they have a little bit more to say about it say maybe they're watching it a little bit more all right let's keep going let's bring up the points that he wants us to remember them most from the following SE section don't overestimate the skill and wisdom of professionals um not sure exactly what he meant by that one but I guess uh maybe Professionals in the stock market world uh in equities uh don't overestimate their skill because they do it on a daily basis but you don't really bring up that point in this chapter um anyways take advantage what you know already so I think this is uh saying like what you're familiar with say if you're familiar with a certain company like apple you're like wow a lot of people use apple hey I super familiar with this company maybe take advantage of that if you know a lot more than other people just take advantage of it and say if you know about a company that other people might not be aware of that is a public company um yeah take advantage let's for opportunities that haven haven't yet been discovered and certified by Wall Street companies that are off the radar scope quote unquote off the radar scope so PayPal PayPal's a good example of this one I think PayPal's back on the Wall Street scope but PayPal for a while was written off by Wall Street you can kind of get a gauge of sentiment when if you watch uh stock market TV shows like CNBC or Bloomberg anything like that kind of under the radar stocks uh PayPal went down so much because of the market cap went down so much value of the company was dropping a lot of competitors and um seems like they're turning the ship around invest in a house before you invest in a stock I personally don't agree with that I think you should be investing in a stock um very early so you can learn this is a very outdated book but I think investing in a house is a good idea um but yeah let's keep going inves in companies not in the stock market so I think just means to do your homework invest in a company so investing your time your money your energy to learn about it takes a lot of uh due diligence but it's very possible uh ignore short short-term fluctuations I think that's super important especially if you're an active investor uh Want To Buy weekly and you see stock going down a bit and you believe in it long term why sell out just because you think it's going to go down down $4 stay longterm average down a little bit unless you don't believe in the company you don't see it you think it's overvalued those are some reasons to sell but yeah large profits and large losses can be made in Common Stocks so that's why doing your homework is super important and um yeah just being invested in the company predicting the economy is futile basically trying to predict the next move in the economy could be detrimental to your returns so I think just saying invested is best for the long term predicting the shortterm direction of the stock market is futile so that's pretty much the same thing long-term returns from stocks are both relatively predictable and also far superior to the long term returns from bonds so stocks return more on average than bonds keeping up with a company in which you own stock is like playing an endless stud poker h I think just staying up to date because if you're playing stud poker you always have to be paying attention so I think staying staying on top of the company uh listing the earning earnings reports annual reports stuff like that Common Stocks aren't for everyone nor even for All Phases of a person's life so sometimes you may not have time for Common Stocks because it takes a lot of time but I think um I think that's a good point but if you want to be in Common Stocks your whole life then then make it happen the average person is exposed to interesting local companies and products years before the professionals so maybe pelaton could have been a good example before I don't know what's going on with pelaton now I don't think it's doing very well but I think Pelon was a maybe a good example of like before got to the professionals like oh hey during Co this is quite uh common now but seeing it on Instagram stuff like that having an edge will help you make money in stocks so I think uh doing diving deep looking for great companies that professionals don't have access to or um don't mention quite a bit is a good Edge to have in the stock market one in the hand is worth 10 in the bush so yeah guys thanks for uh watching my longer video today almost went 10 minutes but uh this 5 minutes of value Peter Lynch one up on Wall Street peace out m
