If you look at this world, you'll see that Sutthi is currently in absense at speed . With past trade breaking news and overnight success stories like this, it's easy to think of our investing as a race . But the real edge is in slowing down. Yes, we have seen this firsthand at HolisticInvest.in. Have you ever seen any investors come and think about it, asking for a write-up and focusing on their long-term goals?

They are chasing the next big thing. They are more successful than them. This is exactly what Howard Marx said in his book The Most Important Thing. And this is a powerful book, so what they say in this book is not just about what you invest . They say that how you think about investing is even more important .

So in this video, we'll look at the key insights in this book, and how you can apply them to your financial journal . Hello everyone, welcome back to holisticinvestment.in. Our channel exists to simplify the concepts of the world of personal finance for individual investors like you. So, have you ever wondered how two investors can look at the same stock but reach completely different conclusions?

Howard Marx explained this concept in his book . This is called second-level thinking. First-level thinking is surface- level thinking. We are looking for a company called Dakun . Okay, this is a good company, this stock will be good. It's a surface level thing to think that we can buy it . But if you actually look at Second Level Thinking, it's like digging a little deeper.

Now everyone is saying this company is a good company, but we're already thinking, "Is this overpriced?" That critical analysis is what separates exceptional investors from an average investor . And in holistic investing we always challenge our clients to go beyond the aspirational not because it is easy but because it is essential so ask yourself am I actually thinking deeply enough or am I just going on the floor and what do many people assume is that high returns mean high risk and vice versa .

This is a dangerous oversimplification. Because if you look at what Mark defines as risk, you can define risk as the potential permanent capital loss . Not just short-term volatility. If you look at short-term volatility, if you take volatility now, it feels unbearable. But what is the true risk? It's losing money.

You can say that true risk exists only when you can't get that money back and recover it. So our clients are asking us what the cost is now, if next year your portfolio drops by 30%, would you be okay with that? Even if it can't be recovered later, we'll take the first cut. Because this answer has a negative connotation, your risk exposure may be too high.

It's tempting to think that if you read this key, you can time your market by understanding it, measuring it, and managing it . To buy low, sell high and come out just in time. But what Mark points out in his book is that it's very hard for even a seasoned pro like him to consistently predict these tops and bottoms for investors like him.

So instead of timing the market, what we can do is focus on understanding where our bicycle is . So, listen to yourself . Are the people Greek or not? Is the market currently overheated or is it ignored? So in holistic investment, we use this thinking. Not to predict but to prefer a common investor who is ready, a common investor who comes and thinks that he should be clever, a kind of open beat.

Another common mistake is that great companies don't buy at bad prices. Think about it like this for an example. Would you buy a high- quality blazer that is valuable but costs 10 times more than the regular blazer ? This is the same with stocks and mutual funds, even the best investments. If you say that the price is at the right price, then you get the value .

When we review our portfolios, we often come across high-cost funds that are popular but don't justify the associated expenses. This is why the discipline of valuation is so important. Because investing without checking the price is like shopping without checking the bill. Let me tell you another ironic thing.

You know when the markets are very volatile and dangerous . That's when it feels really safe . If you look at all of us, when we are bullish and come to risk and ignore it, investors generally make their bets in these same stock sectors. So what are they thinking? They are thinking that momentum will come and protect them.

But what Marx says is that where the best opportunities are, where others are not looking, where others are not looking, that is where the best opportunities are . No, the biggest risk is that everyone is in a very crowded place. You see, this is where we invested. That's where the actual greatest risk would have been eliminated.

Why do you think that when you look at Discomfort Investing, who is doing something right? This is why our clients come to us and remind us so much. Everyone agrees with your investment decision. Maybe it's too late. When things feel too easy, we should be careful. So the final takeaway is that when we look at our core, investing is not a contest of who can act first.

It's about sound judgment, emotional control, and rational decision-making. That's why Howard's book resonates so deeply with them. Because in the number we are not predicting our future, we are actually preparing for multiple buyouts and if you are wondering how to translate these insights into your portfolio, a certified financial planner will be helpful to you at this time because a good CPA will not just recommend products, they will actually guide your thinking, challenge your assumptions and help you build a strategy that is rooted in logic, because we cannot build long-term winning strategies just by reacting to the market .
